I think they changed the formulation of this mousse. It is no longer in the pictured container — New one is darker, but the name is the same. I bought this when Allure magazine gave it rave reviews and have loved it for several years. My recent purchase was the new can and the instructions tell you to dispense a palm-sized amount. The old formula indicates a golf ball size. I first tried this last week and used the palm-sized amount. My hair felt gooey, like I had used a dry shampoo (which I hate). I tried again last night with the golf ball amount and it’s better, but not the same as the original. This left my hair with tangles this morning (I have mid-back fine hair that I put in a topknot to sleep). I am a Wen user and rarely get tangles.

This didn’t give my hair much body or volume. Tried it because it was cheap, but I’m kicking myself. My hair just seemed soft and droopy after using this, and I needed to back comb it throughout the day to give it any volume. This was a bad-hair-day in a can.

I love tons of volume in my hair and am always looking for a great product. This really works! I typically use with something stronger on the roots. And as someone else noted, right after blow drying with this mouse, my hair feels sticky and seems not as shiny as usual. This seems to go away by the end of the day. It seems to me that with this mouse, second day hair looks the best. The volume is still there, but the dull and stickiness are not. I typically wash my hair every other day but this seems to also prolong the length of time between washes. I now can go three days without washing. Also a great plus!

I bought this to replace the pricey Redken Guts mousse, which I used to lift my roots and it worked fabulously. However, this mousse doesn’t do much for my roots, at least not like Redken. As an all over mousse it is great!! I really like how it has given the rest of my hair volume. It makes my hair look fluffy, not frizzy, without the dry or crunchy feel. I used it in conjunction with some beach spray, blew dry it, and BAM! My fine, flat hair has life. I’ll probably continue to use it all over my hair, but still need that product to lift my roots.

I like this mousse. I have pretty straight hair (slight wave to it in certain places) but overall i dont have a lot of volume. I can generally back comb my hair and within a couple hours its flat to my head again, so i’m always on the hunt for products that can give me a bit of life. This does its job, i massage it into my hair after a shower, blow dry then straighten and i can noticeably see more volume. The only thing i dont like (and maybe its just because i’m new to the whole mousse world and they’re all like this) but after i’ve blow dried my hair, it feels like straw. This generally goes away for the most part after i straighten, but it just doesn’t feel nice at all at first. Other than that its great, smells good and does its job!

A little bit of this mousse goes a long way. One tiny pump turns into a huge mass, so be careful not to over-press the pump. The product claims to build volume and thicken strands, and from my experience this product has been true to its claims!
I run the product through my hair and comb through, then either blow-dry straight or leave it to air-dry; either way, my hair turns out beautifully full and stays that way throughout the day WITHOUT hair spray. Take note that my hair is naturally straight and does not naturally have much volume, so the results I got with this mousse were a wonderful surprise. It has a pleasant scent and does NOT make my hair sticky at all.
The product is quite inexpensive at about $5 for the can and I will definitely buy this again.
