I bought this on a whim while visiting my family out of state at their local meijer since I had left most of my hair care products at home and needed a styling and smoothing serum. I guess nexxus was revamping their whole caviar/humectress line and this was their “older packaging” so I got it for half of the original price. For $10 bucks it’s not too shabby but I would be a little upset at the results had I paid full price.. reason being, I’ve been using it for over a month now and aside from softer hair I haven’t noticed much improvement. Yes I know there is no such thing as a magic potion but for the original price of this thing and for what it claims to do I found it a little lackluster. my hair is damaged from prior bleaching but it’s not a total lost cause either it’s just isn’t as soft and healthy looking as I want it to be and despite freshly having it trimmed can look rough without a serum so after reading the claims on this I and seeing that it was half off I pounced on it maybe expecting too much. I had previously used their pro mend leave in cream and it worked decently so maybe that’s also why I was optimistic about it to. Something to really keep in mind with this serum is that it is water based. So as much as it claims to keep the frizz out it really didn’t for me when used on wet hair. even on dry hair if it wasn’t styled it would still frizz up. So overall I can’t say it’s a terrible product since I did notice my hair was a little more soft but I can’t say that it’s a really good one. I’d say it’s pretty mediocre when it comes to it’s claims. I only find that I really like it as a finishing smoother after I straighten my hair because it doesn’t weigh it down or make it feel greasy or heavy and it smooths it out quite nicely. and I also like the smell which isn’t too overpowering these are a few reasons why I gave it a 3. I think if you have finer hair you will like it since it’s waterbased and lightweight but if you have medium or thick hair it won’t really do much, Especially if you’re gonna pay full price I’d probably try alterna’s version since everyone is always raving about it. or who knows maybe they revamped the formula with their newer line and made it better I guess I’ll have to wait to see some more reviews..

Nexxus Promise: Enriched with concentrated, 100% Elastin Protein and a precious Caviar Complex. This sophisticated blend marks the first time in the world concentrated conditioning oil has been encapsulated into pearls and suspended in a water-based rebuilding serum rich in nutrients and protein. Fused together, this weightlessly powerful blend targets damaged hair by intelligently reconstructing within and repairing hair progressively, and smoothes the fiber surface to bring it back to its pre-damaged state.
Problem: Severe hair breakage (naturally blonde, fine, colour-treated), tangling, lacklustre.
First impression: great solid packaging, generous volume (60 ml) and a little goes a long way. Serum dispenses evenly, with strands of burst caviar tracing through. It smells like fresh powder, not overbearing nor lingering. It detangled my hair very well, gave it nice movement without weighing it down. Coconut oil in the serum didn’t make my hair greasy like it does when used pure, even in smallest amount. It kept my hair straight without any frizz and when used in curled style, my hair remained hydrated.
It’s been a bit over a week and so far I am enjoying this, as my hair breakage diminished significantly. I’m not using this as part of the complete regime, just in conjunction with my regular SLS-free shampoo and weekly hot oil treatments. You may feel like $20 hair serum is a frivolous purchase but you get plenty of it and it works well in conjunction with other styling products as it does on its own as a plumping, hydrating and sealing product.
