I have given Freeze and Shine Super Spray a 3 out of 5 lipstick rating. I will begin with my positive thoughts on this product. If you want a super firm hold that will allow no hair to slip out of place, look no further than Freeze and Shine Super Spray. This hairspray has the ultimate hold of almost any hairspray I have EVER used. But enough about its supernatural hold and let’s talk about the supernatural shine created by this non matte hair spray. Most hairspray, even though advertising to have a shiny finish, don’t actually produce any type of shine on the hair. This isn’t the case for Freeze and Shine Super Spray. It creates an extremely intense shine to help finish off any hairstyle. Due to this hairspray being a heavier spray with a maximum hold, it is recommended for medium to course hair types. Alright, now for the complaints. Because Freeze and Shine Super Spray is so heavy, it cannot be used effectively on all hair types and has a select group of hairs that it caters to. The shine is beautiful on very few people (most generally people with very dark hair) but too shiny, in my opinion, causing the hair to look almost greasy instead of beautifully vibrant and healthily shiny. Another complaint I have is the packaging. I’m not saying that every hairspray should be an aerosol spray but in the case of Freeze and Shine Super Spray due to it’s thickness, heaviness, and shine I feel like this product could be distributed more evenly as an aerosol than from a regular spray bottle. The sprayer on this bottle has a tendency to spray too much product into 1 place and causing unevenness in the hold or the need to use more product which can in turn distribute too much product onto the hair. I truly hate the packaging, limited versatility, and obscene shine. I wouldn’t and don’t have this as a product for a firm finish to use on my clients in the salon. As with all JPMS products, Freeze and Shine Super Spray is never tested on animals!

Amazing stuff and excellent value. It never feels crunchy, is extremely versatile, is non-aerosol and imparts noticeable shine.
I use it to:
-lift my roots: dry hair, concentrated spray and blow dry upside down
-light mist to hold style, dry hair
-prevent flyaways: mix with water in palms and skim over dry hair
-style: spray on wet hair at roots for volume, ends for hold and temples to straighten fuzz
It’s a great price and easy to find. What a gem!

I used to buy this then I went Curly Girl (I’m all 100% CG except this product), I make an exception for hairspray as I don’t really love Pantene 100% alcohol free “airspray” as much as this). I love how it gives crunch like 80s crunch <3 that it’s hard to find except maybe Aussie Sprunch Spray it smells amazing like coconut honey dew holds my hair really well like into the next day (I don’t cowash ev day). This stuff is amazing <3 <3 <3 #winning

Amazing smell(watermelon), freezes hair & adds unbelievable shine!

This does exactly what it says, it freezes your hair in place. Great hold, and a good price as far as salon brands go. I think they have tampered with the scent since I used it last, though. I seem to remember liking the smell. It smelled similar to PM Awaphui shampoo. Now it smells like melon and I don’t care for it. I can’t smell it once it dries so that’s not a deal breaker for me. I definitely recommend this hair spray.

I think Freeze and Shine has the wrong name. Unless you spray on coat after coat it does not freeze your hair into place! I’m aware it has the “helmet hair” reputation, but I don’t use if for that reason. I have a fairly simple bob, a few sprays with Paul Mitchell keeps my hair from frizzing up in humidity. I use little enough so that my hair swings freely, yet the texture of my hair is flattering. I’m able to comb through my hair easily, it doesn’t have a heavy, greasy feeling and it has a healthy, shine to it. Also, it has a very pleasant scent.

I have very thick hair and no matter how careful I am in washing, drying, and combing my hair smooth and flat, it still likes to pouf out like a lions main. Basically I end up looking like I never combed my hair in the morning. So I mainly use hairspray for keeping down the flyaways/’de-poufing’ my hair.
This stuff does the job. It holds down the individual strands that like to stick up, and also keeps the larger chunk fly-aways down. Additionally, it smooths down the bulk of my hair and makes it lay nicely.
And I can comb through it without breaking any of my hair. So while it goes on helmet-head-y, I can simply brush through it and it’s as if the hairspray disappears, but my hair stays fabulous.
It does impart some shine, but it doesn’t give a super shiny look. It does make my hair look healthier. Perhaps if my hair weren’t so damaged it would look shinier. But on the plus side, I can’t see this stuff ever making hair look greasy.

Hands down the best hairspray I’ve ever used. I have very fine wavy hair that typically gets flyaway and frizzy, but this stuff keeps my hair in control and gives it great volume. As someone else pointed out, my hair even looks good in the AM after sleeping. As long as Paul Mitchell keeps making this I’ll never buy anything else.

I work in a salon in Burton-upon-trent and we use all Paul Mitchell products, but freeze and shine super spray is my favourite by far! It always holds my hair in place even in windy weather ill brush my hair and it will go back to normal instantly. It has a lovely sweet smell to it too! Our clients love it and it is our best seller by far. Its not the cheapest of hairsprays but it is really worth the money.

Oh my gosh, ladies, gather round to hear what I have to say! This is the best hairspray that I have used in a long time! For reference: I have medium length, curly, crazy hair. My hair misbehaves when it is windy, rainy, humid etc. I live in the deep south so that’s like daily. I was getting really frustrated with my hair when I came across this little gem. I got the small bottle at ULTA so I could try it out, still very expensive. I spray this on my hair right after I have put gel in it (it is still really wet), and it helps my curls dry faster and set better, which is exactly what I was looking for! Also, most importantly, it keeps away fly-aways and frizzies. I’m so glad that I found this one. Will definitely repurchase and highly recommend.
