I wanted to like this and I think it’s probably a good hairspray but I simply can’t stand the smell and I’m pretty tolerant with smell (I used zero gravity for ages and I hated the smell of that). I realize that I’ve never stuck with a tresemme hairspray because of the smell. As soon as I sprayed it on I knew I couldn’t keep it no matter how it performed – can’t they vary the fragrance? It smells just like Two or whatever it’s called. It’s in the bag ready to go back but maybe, maybe I’ll give it one good try because I think it would work well for my fine thinning hair – and when I just sampled it on one side of my head it seemed to have potential….but that cloying freaky smell was a deal breaker…so maybe nah. The can is nice looking – wish the product was nice smelling.

I came across this hairspray because I heard lately that Tresemme products do not disappoint and this is their latest/newest line. I didn’t get nor try the mousse version of this because I already use a different mousse for now (might try it after I’m done my current bottle), but I had pretty high expectations for this particular hairspray based on reviews from other sites, lol. I’m new to ironing my hair every day to create volume because I have EXTREMELY FINE, THIN, LIMP HAIR. If I don’t use a curling iron, my hair is completely DEAD. Not to mention, I NEED TONS of help from hair products to help build up volume and make me look less like an alien head with no hair.
I am HAPPY to report that this hairspray did NOT disappoint! I spray it before I iron my hair and I spray it after I’m done. It creates a NATURAL volume that doesn’t feel OR look like my hair is weighed down at all and you can totally SEE the difference with the new volume in my hair. Just to double-check that this hairspray is really doing the trick, I decided to iron my SECOND-DAY hair that had NO mousse in it – just regular heat protectant spray + this hairspray – and the SAME MAGIC HAPPENED. Great volume once more and, like the product says, it is TRULY ‘BEAUTY-FULL’. I felt like I had hair from those hair commercials you see!
The only thing I noticed is that it might not hold curls too well, but that could be because my curling iron is not strong enough to make ringlets and tight curls so I can’t comment on using this hairspray for those kinds of styles. However, for an everyday, soft, beach-y, wavy, volumizing look, this is GREAT! Once you spray this initially, the effect is instantaneous and then it quickly disperses and you get the soft, volumizing effect. Since I curl my hair into beach-y waves, this hairspray is perfect for it!
P.S.: Love the packaging of this line! Whenever I use this hairspray, I feel like I’m using a high-end brand because of the way Tresemme designs their hair products! My only slight concern is that this packaging makes holding and using the hairspray a bit hard because I have to hold it at an angle and press down on it, which makes it somewhat awkward with the way this bottle was designed, but aside from that, everything great I’ve said about this still stands.
/Edit: Initially, I took one ‘lippie’ off because I felt that this hairspray would not be able to hold curls. However, upon re-reading the description of this hairspray, it seems that the purpose is to create ‘volume AND movement’. In that case, it does BOTH very well. I love my tussled, soft! (absolutely NO crunchy hair at all), beach-y, waves! It says ‘FLEXIBLE FINISH’ on the bottle. Full stars! If you want the curls to hold, Tresemme has other products specifically made for that! Once again. this is just to create volume and movement!
Now I’m looking forward to trying the mousse version of this!
