It seems I’m only one who hate this product, but I do hate it.
After reading all great reviews here I bought a set of three sprays. What was I thinking about? Once they arrived I gave it a try for a couple of weeks.
It smells pure chemicals, it feels like an alcohol was directly sprayed on my head (it does have alcohol among other ingredients), it made my hair look dull, lifeless and extremely dry.
This is by far the worst hair styling product I ever bought!

I am always on the prowl for products that will make my fine ass hair look normal. Over the years I’ve found that the less alchohol in any given product, the better. I found this while searching for alchohol free heat protectants. I read a couple reviews, found it to sound promising, and bought it online. I am very impressed by this product. For one thing, because my hair is so thin, by the second day or so after shampooing my hair would look insanely greasy. With this product however, I can go three days without shampooing. That was completely unheard of before I started using this. Yes it’s a little expensive, but if you search around you can find it for cheap like I did. I think I paid 11 bucks for it. I’d pay full price though if I had to, a great product for me!

When I first purchased this product ( after reading rave reviews in Allure magazine), I went and bought the smaller size in order to test it out before spending the big bucks. At first, I did not like the results of this product. It didn’t seem to give me the smoothness I was seeking. So, off it went to the dark & dusty recesses of the land of misfit products. Fast forward a few months and I was lamenting the oiliness of my current heat protecting spray, AG Firewall. It gives excellent smoothness but it definitely shortens the amount of time I can go between shampoos. I am a twice a week shampooer. Re-enter Oscar Blandi Dry Styling Heat Protect Spray! I was reaching for my Sebastian Shaper Spray and spied the lonely OB spray in the back of the cabinet. I decided to give it another try and I’m so very glad I did! I think I hadn’t been using it correctly at first. Ok, Pros: *Dries instantly so you can flat iron each section minus that scary sizzle and smoke moment. *It’s very lightweight and leaves only shiny hair in it’s wake. * I love the lemony scent of it and it fades quickly anyway. *Even though it helps me achieve the straightened hair I seek, it doesn’t take all the life out of it. I am left with smooth, shiny, straight hair that still has movement and bounce. I only gave it 4 lippies for the price review because it is on the high end of what I normally spend. BUT, when I find a product that does what it claims, I am willing to pay more for it. This is an overall EXCELLENT heat protecting & smoothing spray! I will be purchasing the full size bottle when mine is empty!

I picked this spray up after reading about it in Allure Magazine (see below). Its pricey at $23 but I first got it on eBay for $11. Kohl’s is giving them away for about $7 right now so I bought several. It’s a dry spray and smells like lemon Pledge but the scent fades away quickly. I like that it protects my hair from the heat of the blow dryer and flat iron. It does leave my hair shiny and I can also use it as a volumizer or dry shampoo. Great multi-tasking product.
Per Allure:
WHAT IT IS:
A heat-protective styling spray
WHAT IT DOES:
Shields hair from damaging blow-dryers and irons and works as a light hair and shine spray
KEY INGREDIENTS:
Patented polymer complex (protects hair from heat and prevents breakage); keratin proteins (strengthen)
HOW IT FEELS/SMELLS/LOOKS:
This fine mist has a texture akin to dry shampoo rather than the usual wetness and stickiness of a hair spray. However, it smells a little like lemon Pledge.
WHY WE LIKE IT:
We sprayed this on our fine hair before blow-drying to protect it from frying and found it also worked well as a light volumizer, adding a bit of thickness as well as heat protection, plus one surprise: extra softness. Hairstylist Matt Fugate discovered even more styling bonuses when he tested it on his clients: “Using this with a curling iron gives amazing shine to hair and increases the life of curls,” he says.

I have tried a ton of heat protectant products. I thought they all worked until I tried Oscar Blandi Heat protectant spray. The ingredients in this particular product were proven to work against heat in a scientific journal which is why I shelled out my cash to try it. I am glad I did!

I was looking for a dry heat protectant, rather than 1 that goes on wet/damp hair. I found this in a discount store and tried it: it’s fabulous! I guess I’m the only reviewer that doesn’t mind the fresh, lemony scent! I think it smells nice and it disappears immediately anyway. I usually put this on after blow drying and before using my irons. I swear, it seems to provide a light hold which is an added benefit and it definitely makes my hair less frizzy and smoother. It works whether curling or straightening and I snap it up whenever I find it at the discounters, but I have paid full price even though it killed me because it’s worth it!

Where has this been all my life?? This is probably the best heat protectant I have ever used. I have long (mid-back length), thick, wavy, damaged hair that I heat style almost every day. When I use the Oscar Blandi protectant I really feel like my hair is being protected from the high heat of my flat iron. I’m left with soft, smooth, and shiny hair that also smells great! It doesn’t leave my hair flat or greasy. It’s a bit on the expensive side, but I will repurchase for sure! It is worth the money.

I really liked this product, but deducted a lippie because usually heat protectant products have some other property to them; smoothing, anti-frizz, etc. This one is simply a heat protectant. I do feel as though it actually protected my hair from all heat styling, as it appeared shiny and healthy even after multiple blow drying/curling iron blasts within a few days. It’s a bit pricey, (around $20-25? at Sephora) but lasted me several months with almost every day use. If you’re looking for a good heat protectant, try this. However, there are many products out there that are multi-faceted that may be more of a bang for your buck!

I LOVE this product. I only wash my hair twice a week and use this to protect my hair when I blow-dry and re-style on days I didn’t wash.
It smells awful, like lemon pinesol…but the scent doesnt last long and once you style your hair it is virtually undectable.
This really protects your hair, It has made such a difference in my blow-dry routine.
I usually find this for around $7.99 at Marshalls/TJ Maxx, I have also seen it at Target for around $16, and Sephora sells for $23. Obviously better to find a cheaper source, but honestly I would pay full price because I really believe this product is protecting my hair from all the crap I do to it.

Finally found my HG heat spray! Every other spray I’ve used left my medium thick (but getting thinner since coloring over the past few months) hair flat, greasy and dirty looking. I looked over this and tried other brands at first, but that was such a waste! Goes on so fine, I got worried it wasn’t spraying at all at first. Not even remotely greasy and doesn’t cause buildup at all. And it dries fast, which is great if you’re getting ready in a hurry! It does have a lemony cleaning chemical scent, but it doesn’t bother me and it fades very quickly. I also love that it’s alcohol-free and I feel better about putting one less drying alcohol product on my hair. I tried the travel size bottle first, in case it let me down like every other product, but soon went right back to buy the full-size! Much pricier than my budget prefers ($24 for full-size, $11 for travel size) but a little goes a long way and my hair looks great. I especially love that I don’t wash my hair every day (fake redhead problems), but this doesn’t make it look greasy at all, even after a few days. I don’t think enough people know about this product and they’re missing out!
