First, I love Kerastase shampoos, conditioners, heat protectors and the fabulous Ultime. Can’t live without any of them.
This VIP in Volume spray, however, was the worst product I think I have ever used. It left me with a super-sticky scalp and dirty-feeling and dirty-looking hair. I have straight, fine, healthy blonde hair with no oily scalp issues.. I cold not believe the stickiness of the product on my hands or scalp and washed it out immediately. Moreover, it did nothing for the volume it promised. My hair looks much better without it. Big disappointment from Kerastase.

I love this stuff. I call it my liquid gold. I’m actually disappointed the smell doesn’t linger. I’d love for my hair to smell that good all day. I feel like there’s misconception on how to use it. My hair dresser used it in my hair & the smell grabbed my attention & I went home with a bottle, inspite of silently saying WTF $40. This is not a dry shampoo. It’s a dry powder texturizing spray with volume & a strong hold. While lightweight, it does add density/texture/volume. Because it’s not a dry shampoo it won’t dissolve the oil & dirt. But the powder in this product will absorb some of it. I can go 3 days depending on the products & then it’s time wash. I have medium length healthy curly fine hair. I like volume in my curls. But more importantly, I like to ensure my head has some “overall shape” to it. I want it full at the crown & shaped so it looks like it has some uniformity to it & not flat here & fluff there. If you use it like a finishing spray it’ll add weight. I use it underneath where I want a little more fullness & texture & then a little overall for the hold but sprayed from underneath. Basically the same as if you flipped your head upside down and sprayed it. I then finger style to shape & flat iron a few strategic curls & go. I don’t use a hairspray b/c you don’t need it. It’ll hold all day & still have bounce & shine. It’s expensive but it’s a wonderful product. A little goes a long way.

Have always loved this stuff but it’s ridiculously expensive. I have fine curly hair which I blow dry straight. That means by day two or three, it’s flat and a bit greasy but the ends are starting to curl naturally. When I spray this stuff into my hair, instantly it has volume and no grease. It feels like a combination of dry shampoo, medium hold hairspray and a light texturiser. Three products in one. Works with the natural wave coming back into my hair after a couple of days and looks really sexy – messy bed hair at it’s most fabulous. Caution, it has to be the finishing touch on your desired hairdo because it is sticky and hard to get your fingers or a comb through after you apply it. So some people will hate it. Overly perfumed but not offensive. I won’t buy it gain though – found a great inexpensive duplicate – Garnier Fructis Full & Luscious Volume Booster Texturising Spray (pink can). It has exactly the same result on my hair (with a different smell) and saves me about $40 AUD per can.

Based on the description on the Kerastase website and the reviews here, this sounded like exactly what I needed. I try to shampoo only every other day and needed something to help my hair look fuller on the days that I don’t shampoo since it tends to look flat on those days. I couldn’t get this product to work for me. It sounds like it is great for so many people, but on me, it really does nothing. After using it, my hair looks just as flat as before. Probably a great product based on the other reviews, but just doesn’t work for me.

Decided to splurge on this product based on the great reviews. I agree on it smelling great and not tangling hair or making it look dull like most other products in this category does. But there’s where the positives end. It does almost nothing for my hair. I have medium thickness hair with fine strands which usually lays flat on my head.
I’ve used this product both on blowdried hair with mousse and on product-free hair and there’s no difference in results. Some extra volume but within 30 minutes it just lays flat again. I’ve tried both light spraying and hard but more just makes my hair looking separeted and greasy. I’ve known since long not to expect miracles from any hair products but I was hoping for hair with light volume and a more airy feel but I got far from any of it. I have incredibly tangle-prone hair and I find that all the products that actually work(Batiste XXL volume for example) just makes my hair a tangly mess with hours of detangling as a result. This product didn’t do that and for those it has worked for I realize this is a great product but for me this just waste of money, I could just as well spray my roots with some cheap hairspray.

This product is nothing short of a miracle. I am 43 and have always had flat, fine hair that will be greasy at the roots by day 2 of not shampooing. I use the most expensive hair products and have tried many volumizing mousses and sprays, in addition to dry shampoos. Most of them make my hair tolerable, but nothing to write home about. Then I read the MUA reviews of this product and decided to try it. Wow. Just wow.
For the first time in my life, my hair does not stick flat to the top of my head. My hair has beautiful shine, no sticky residue and I can go longer than 48 hours without my scalp looking like a grease slick.
The other great thing is that it is easy. Previously, I would wash, condition, apply mousse, dry, apply hairspray, and on day 2, use Klorane dry shampoo, comb through, use hairspray. Now I wash, condition, dry, apply this stuff and tousle hair. Next day, brush, apply this stuff, tousle hair.
The price is atrocious, but believe me, it’s worth every penny if you have flat, fine, lifeless hair. Plus, I save money by not using 3 separate hair styling products.

Do you want your hair to have volume, hold like hairspray, and still have softness to the touch? Do you want your hair to smell expensive and constantly have people asking what fragrance you are wearing when it is just your hair product? Look no further, this is the product for you. I was looking for a product that would give me that sort of Blake Lively lush thickness that would last through my work day. I like the Kerastase Powder Bluff and have always loved their hairspray that manages not to smell anything like hairspray and this product is a nice fusion without having to buy two products as one is already guilty pleasure expensive. If the price were more reasonable I would buy a huge case and stockpile them in case this little gem gets discontinued. I like using it as a finishing product after I blowdry, tousling in nice thick volume at the root. I love this product.

Great product. Makes the hair shiny, great dry shampoo. A bit expensive but awesome. Sometimes dry shampoos takes the shine away, which it isn’t the case with this product.

This is my first ever review, but I was so thrilled about this product I felt compelled to help others on their quest of achieving volume and for those that are not wanting to wash their hair every day due to the damaging effects, especially for us fine-haired girls, thus leading to inability to grow hair to longer lengths.
I apologize for the lengthiness of this review but I don’t want to leave any details out.
History – I am 44 and have super-fine hair that I get coloured every 3 months. I can not go without colouring because I have mousy light brown hair that I can’t stand. I have been growing my hair for 2 years from shoulder length. My hair length now reaches only 2 inches above my bra strap. I am aiming for that VS super model hair and can not accept that I can not achieve it. I’ve envied these locks for so long and I’m on a mission. My hairdresser only dyes my roots, as I don’t want the ends touched or I get more breakage and less growth. I currently feel like I am at a stand still with my hair literally begging for it to grow, but I have a hard time NOT washing it at least every other day. My hair is so limp it just lies flat and sticks to my head – not the look I’m going for but what can you do; you’ve got to work with what you got. I have tried numerous dry shampoos that promise full locks and I just end up with gunky sticky hair that feels dirty and just leaves it limp. I’ve also tried other expensive volumising brand s/c’s; currently I’m using L’Oreal intense repair s/c (I need the moisture, but only use a bit of the conditioner, otherwise it really weighs down my hair). Post s/c I use Joico blue bottle detangled. I use Aveda phomollient on damp hair before drying and I do heat style because my hair just has no body and I find if I put curls in the end, it gives it SOME body and yes fully aware it is damaging and is probably stunting my hair growth. I tried biotin for 1 week and ended up with cystic acne which I never get so I know it is the biotin. That episode had to end quickly, so moving along…My hair seems to be thinning as I become more mature and the texture is changing, which makes my hair more susceptible to breakage. Not cool.
Enter ^ this product upon the suggestion of my hairdresser. When I first put it in in the morning, I thought, “meh”, like any other dry shampoo. I think you notice the effects later as the day goes by. About 4 hours in looking in the bathroom mirror I noticed that my hair was not lying as flat to my head as it normally does. I was pleasantly surprised. It pretty much lasted the whole day – I had fullness, my scalp did not feel gunky and I could still run my fingers through my hair! That night, I put my hair up in a scrunchie and the next morning I had bigger and fuller hair. I am on day 3 of no wash and this product is still delivering fullness results and I have not had to use my curling iron, which is a challenge for me. Yes it is expensive but when I reflect on how much I’ve already spent on numerous useless products, it is so worth it! Will definitely be purchasing again! I will repost and make sure I’m not experiencing hair product honeymoon phase. I hope this review helps others as well. Btw, I am not affiliated, just inspired. Give it a try, I highly recommend.

This Kerastase spray is a powder spray styler which I bought from my hairdresser a few weeks ago along with a couple of other styling products after he did my hair using this and I was wowed. The premise from Kerastase is that it has some sort of “horizontal diffusion system” to enhance your hair’s volume from root to tip. I don’t know about that malarkey but I do know that it works very well to make my hair voluminous but still soft and shiny and not gritty or tangled. My hair is shoulder-length, fine, blonde and flat if left to its own devices and I have trouble with finding products that volumise without drying it out. So whenever I find a product that appears to add volume, I grab it.
The product itself comes in a tall purple aerosol spray (typically luxurious looking for Kerastase) and has a pleasant, inoffensive scent. After shampooing and conditioning I either let my hair dry naturally or blow dry it, and spray this on my roots in layers about 10cm out. I don’t need a lot of product which is good. I then tousle my hair and voila, it is full of sexy, shiny volume. It doesn’t leave any residue in the hair or obvious white powdery cast, doesn’t weigh my hair down and the hold lasts most of the day which is a miracle on my hair. I can also use it later on in the same day if necessary and also on the next day (a non wash day) and it acts as kind of a dry shampoo, refreshing my hair whilst also providing volume. The effect is meant to be that of backcombing but seeing as I have never backcombed my hair in my life I wouldn’t be able to comment on that.
I paid AU$42 for this from my hairdresser, although it can be found for a bit cheaper online. I would buy it again if I ran out or lost it.
