A great hair sealer! I have fairly dense 4c afro hair normal porosity and about medium(ish) length. After spending far too much money on so called “better” things for my hair I decided to go back to the 90’s. My hair is corse so light oils dont seal as well. But butters are more expensive and make the hair feel “sogged down” with product. A light hand and the correct application makes this grease my favorite sealer to use. The trick is to use a light hand after using your leave in conditoner and work the grease from the ends and up the length of the hair but DO NOT apply to the scalp. Grease in general dosnt allow the scalp to breath so I dont apply it there. Just gently work on the ends up up the length of the hair. Smells like scented vaseline but not too strong. Does feel greasy when you first apply it but it sinks into the hair over time. Carfeul using it in hot weather as it does want to melt so again a light hand! Cheap (3/4$), and you get a lot so a full sized jar should last you for a very long time. Available at most stores since I picked mine up at a grocery but is also sold at sallys, online, and at local beauty supply stores. Very happy with this stuff!

DO NOT PUT THIS ON YOUR HEAD! This product made my hair fall out! omg I just got out of the shower and made an account to warn others. This is garbage!!!! i spent months working on making my hair thicker and fuller, now its all disgusting and oily! I’ve washed it 3 times trying to take the product out and its still in my hair. Its so thick! please save your scalp DO NOT USE THIS ON YOUR HAIR! If you already bought it use it as lotion for your knees or feet, but DO NOT use on your hair! the first ingredient is petroleum thats BAD for your hair, it stunts hair growth and closes off your scalps pores. Im so upset right now! terrible terrible terrible product!

I use blue magic on my children’s hair to seal in the moisture on the wash days, before the braid days, so its been a staple in our house anyway, just not for me. I was looking for an oil to seal the moisture into my hair on wash day. I usually just use whipped shea butter with coconut, olive, almond, tea tree, carrot, and jajoba. But thats when I’m doing a wash & go, twist out, or braid out. my intention was to flat iron my hair on this particular day. I have 4a/4b hair, so I needed something heavier than the whipped shea mixture. I know petroleum is supposed to be bad for your hair and all, but so is flat ironing it, soooo…. anyway, incorporated the BLUE magic using the LOC method and it surely sealed in the moisture. Air dried, blow dried, and had the best looking flat iron i’ve had since I went back to natural, three years ago.

I’ve been a regular lurker on various hair forums, blogs, and sites that are supposed to teach you the proper way to care for your hair. On all of these sites the list of “bad” ingredients and products is endless, while the “good” list is whittled down to sulfate free shampoo(if any), conditioner(but only without silicones), and various edible oils and butters.
My hair was doing just fine but always open to improvement, I started a quest for “good” products and ingredients that would work magic on my hair. Hundreds if not thousands of dollars later I’ve found one such product for my hair: Blue Magic.
Being biracial, I’ve used this product and others like it before but assumed that because of the “bad” ingredients there had to be something better for my hair with “good” ingredients. After Aveda, Redken, Avalon Organic, Nature’s Gate, Paul Mitchell, tubs of shea butter and pints of every oil sold at Whole Foods, you can only imagine my shock and dismay that this $3 tub of goo keeps my hair moisturized, shiny, frizz and tangle free for DAYS. Another surprise is that it is not greasy when used sparingly! Something I always hated about oils & shea butter were that a small amount does nothing for my hair, but a larger amount leaves it oily and greasy.
I use it like an oil and scrape a tiny sliver onto the tip of my fingernail then emulsify it between my hands and spread over a damp section of hair. Comb through and style. Used this way it works great and is very easy to wash out.
I stated that I would repurchase but given how big the jar is and miniscule the amount I use, it will last me for the next 30 years.

I have this product in bergamot (the green one), which I like because it makes me smell like a cup of earl grey tea!
Alright, this isn’t a great product, but it does the job and for very little money. I use it to style my men’s undercut-type hairstyle. I’m probably going to move on to Murray’s pomade after this, but I don’t regret buying this product. It was my first foray into black hair care (I’m mixed race), and I think it was a success.
Oh, and I like to rub whatever is left on my hands into my cuticles, like Vaseline 🙂

I use this in a pinch to seal the moisture in my ends of my hair. I am not wild about the scent and frankly on my scalp, it does nothing beneficial. Will not repurchase because the small jar I do have will last me years.

LOL. Ok this product does have its place. I am a relaxed and have 3c hair. This product alone is way too heavy for my hair and I end up with greasy stiff hair. But I have a jar for basing my scalp when relaxing. I also keep it around for nostalgic purposes of when I was a kid =).
I probably won’t repurchase this product because I will never need to. I only use very little when I relax every 6 months. I dont think it will expire ever either.

I bought this because someone recommended it (she had blonde hair) and I went white-blond. But when I looked it up I found out that these ingredients should NOT be used for your hair. It does more damage to it than good- and doesn’t do any good for the long run. It is cheap, yes. But I’d say invest in a good conditioner!

This isn’t a bad product, but i wouldn’t recommend it for thin, caucasian hair. Blue magic is a hair gel/pomade, it is not a conditioner, deep conditioner, or “hair dress” as it says on the container. Directions don’t specify how to really use it, but I am guessing it is applied to dry hair to “style”. Think of it as a conditioning hair gel, though it’s hard to say if it has any effect on actually conditioning since any gel can mend hair.
It made my fine, blonde hair really really gunky. It’s still greasy after several shampoos!! I might use it when I style my hair but even then it could be too much. If you have thick hair try this, but otherwise I wouldn’t recommend it.
