I have gone through a couple of bottles of this, and I think it works very well on my particular type of hair for what I want it to do. It doesn’t create curls or waves out of nothing, but since my hair (fine-but-abundant, dry, color treated, wavy) makes waves pretty well on its own when it air dries this product works well. It keeps the waves from getting too frizzy or unruly and helps to keep the waves looking nice all day. To me, it seems like a regular wave spray mixed with a leave-in, and that’s pretty much how it works on my hair. I love air drying my hair since sometimes I like the wave, but since my hair is dry this can cause my hair to dry out more, so the Wave Swept spray helps to mitigate that damage while also doing a little bit to enhance the natural wave I already have. If you have straight hair and are hoping to get waves out of this I doubt it will work–invest in a waver, like Bed Head’s Deep Waver instead and save yourself the heartache. If you have hair that already wants to get wavy on its own then definitely give this a go.

Growing my hair out, to get rid of a bad choice to bleach it platinum last summer.
This calls for a lot of moisture, regular trims and absolutely no heated styling tools. I needed an alternative to get by while waiting for the damage to grow out. Hence this bad choice. I’m starting to see a trend.
I have medium length, layered, damaged, straight, fine hair. I used this after shampoo and conditioner. I ran it through my hair, and let it air dry, scrunching every three or so minutes. It took forever to dry.
It didn’t give me soft beachy waves. It gave me small, multiple crusty and crunchy tendrils of hair, mixed with dry frizzy tangles. Complete mess. The smell to me isn’t as bad as others have claimed. I actually can’t smell it at all. It’s basically watered down hair gel mixed with a light conditioner in a spray bottle.
I used it on my daughter’s thick, pristeen long hair, just to see if it was not compatible with my hair type and really a good product. We applied it wet, braided her hair and waited for it to dry. Same result. Her hair looked dirty.
That bottle seriously belongs in the 80’s and looks cheap.
Don’t waste your time and money. I need to make better hair choices.

I can’t even wait for my hair to dry. This smells like a scented garbage bag with fruit rotting inside. I don’t care how good my hair looks using this, it smells atrocious.

I have short, wavy hair that gets ridiculously curly in heat and humidity. I’ve tried everything to keep it from getting frizzy and unruly, and after reading a magazine recommendation for this product, I figured it was worth a try. And it works! I spray 5 or 6 pumps into my hand, rub my palms together, and then apply it to damp hair. I let my hair air dry, but I do hit it with a blow dryer for about a minute. But, with this product, my hair hasn’t deflated or gone curly/frizzy on me, even in the summer humidity. My natural wave is controlled, my hair is shiny, and it still looks good at the end of a long day – without any crunchiness or heaviness. I’m so glad I discovered thus, and I’ll definitely buy it again! And the price is very reasonable, especially after trying so many expensive salon products that weren’t anywhere near as effective as this.

I bought this product looking for something that would give me textured waves in my bob/lob hair that is color treated and somewhat damaged. My hair stick straight Asian hair.
The smell is divine, kind of like licorice!
The bottle is a cylinder and is easy to hold and spray but the spray just splotches out a whole bunch of product at once. For the price point I expected a much finer spray.
This product does leave my hair soft, no crunchiness of sea salt sprays. The effects with heat and mousse don’t quite make it to the end of an 8 hour workday. I’d say around 6 hours on me. I definitely need to use heat or I’d just have clumps where there was a bunch of product and every else would be flat.
This product does say it’s more for those who already have a curl or wave–learn from my mistake and believe them. Save your money for something with a stronger hold.
