Update 12/2019: Of COURSE this has been discontinued and replaced with a product filled with coconut derivatives!!! Of COURSE it had to be changed, since I could actually use this & it didn’t originally contain my gazillion allergens!!! Am SO MAD!!!
Am halfway through my last bottle. (I stocked up at sale after I first started using this.. the one time hoarding a product worked out well) I have not found a similar replacement. Olay Daily Regenertist Serum Fragrance Free (the old version) would be close.. but the new Olay serums all contain my allergens. Am able to use Paula’s choice Regenerist Antioxidant Serum (not the light version—again with the allergens); those ingredients are great but the texture is completely different so I can only wear it at night—when I prefer to use my other products. If anyone knows of a good serum that’s not too greasy to wear during the daytime—and has no coconut/nut/seed oils or derivatives—please PM me with your recommendation! Thanks!
Original Review:
This serum comes in a glass bottle with a plastic pump; the pump works and hasn’t malfunctioned. The serum itself has an opaque white look, and is thick-ish, yet it spreads easily/smoothly and is completely clear on the skin. It quickly dries down to a comfortable your-skin-but-matteish-and-no-shine.” It lightly “airbrushes” my pores and fine wrinkles. I’m used to heavy feeling serums and make-up; this has a lighter feel than what I’m used too. It doesn’t exacerbate oil; I’m less oily when I wear this. I really like the texture, feel, and look of it on my skin.
I use it as a make up primer under my eyes, it gentles fills in my fine lines and feels comfortable–it does not irritate/sting my sensitive eyes, doesn’t migrate into my eyes, and doesn’t cause my eye makeup to migrate (problems I have with most serums/creams).
I alternate it with other skin care at night. I use it as a fabulous primer on my face. It plays well with others. My makeup applies smoothly over this serum, and stays much better. When I use this, my skin is so soft & smooth after I remove my makeup–as well as when I’m wearing it.
On light errand days–or on decent skin days–I will just wear this serum instead of foundation (my skin but better), and do lips and eyes and some blush. This has HG status for me. (I’m a well-preserved 56, so I now have fine lines in addition to pores and light crows feet.)
This serum is what Perfekt Skin Perfecting Gel wanted to be. It’s also the texture that I’d hoped Paula’s Choice light antioxidant serum (or any of her serums) would be. I’ve used it six months so far; my skin’s texture and tone have had noticeable improvement. (I do use Vit C products, those have remained the same for a few years now) My skin is clearer, smoother, and brighter. NOT something I’d ever expect from a drug store House brand. The ingredients contain good peptides and niaminicide.
I’m very pleased with its performance, and will continue to purchase/use! It is much more affordable online–I got it as a buy one get one free, plus a 20% promo code. It’s a Walgreen’s house brand product.. and their online sales (and promos) are much cheaper than their in-store prices.
UPDATE (3/21/18): The ingredients listed on the store/product page (walgreens) are WRONG!! I bought one in-store and just got 2 online from same store, all ingredient lists match each other–but the store site is wrong. The product has Niaminicide (10th ingredient)–not listed on the store’s ingredient list, and the product does NOT have beta glucans–which IS listed on the store product ingredient list.
