I have tried Buffet and now I have finished a bottle of Matrixyl. I like both, they both moisturize my skin well when used properly, on a mildly wet face and follow up with an occlusive moisturizer. I was a little surprised to read the previous review because I am allergic to castor oil but I have had no reaction to this or any other The Ordinary product. What I don’t understand is how Matrixyl is different from Buffet: according to The Ordinary’s site, their list of ingredients is virtually identical. Personally, I couldn’t detect any major difference in results, I like both of them. There is a slight difference in application for me: I found Matrixyl to be slightly easier to absorb than Buffet. I would repurchase both, but I have just repurchased Buffet because it comes in a larger size, which is more convenient for home use.

Several of the Deciem The Ordinary products have castor oil as an ingredient (particularly those with HA). This was, and is, one of them. I’m allergic to castor oil – found out the hard way while trying to lengthen my lashes – and didn’t scrutinize the ingredient list closely enough or think enough of it, but either way, oh MAN did I have an allergic reaction to this serum. I was curious as to why I was fine with the granactive retinol but this (and the HA + B5 serum, incidentally) made my face red/blotchy/puffy/eyes swelled up even tho I wasn’t applying near my eyes! I passed this serum on to someone who had no issues at all, but then again, they aren’t allergic to castor oil.
If you’re also allergic to castor oil (it’s not totally uncommon), *please* check the current ingredient listings on the Ordinary’s website – I notice even older versions change frequently. (Or, for example, the newer Mandelic Acid + HA does not contain castor oil.) Just a PSA.

Ive used a whole bottle of this serum solely for the fine lines on my undereyes and saw no improvement. To be fair it’s a very nice hydrator, but if you’re hoping for wrinkle reduction as peptides are purported to do I wouldn’t rely on this product.
Fingers crossed the retinol I’m using now for undereyes work

My skin didn’t cooperate that well with this serum. It gave a little bit of moisture but more in a superficial sense. I have tried and tested a lot of Ordinary serums, some are fantastic but this is not a keeper for me. The great thing is that the serums aren’t costly so you can try out what works best for your skin without breaking the bank.

This is a wonderful serum to aid moisture. Every time I use it on a night, I wake up with plumped up smooth skin. I have normal, fairly sensitive skin that tends to get dehydrated in winter. Such good value for money.

This is a thin, clear gel. I apply it as a first step, under other products from TO. It does give a little bit of hydration and doesn’t at all bother my sensitive skin. No smell, no color, good ingredients.
I give this 3 lippies because while it gives a small amount of hydration, it doesn’t add much to what I already use. One bottle lasts me a month, and I HAVE repurchased this, but I don’t find it an essential part of my regimen. I guess you can use this if you want to apply something thick on top that needs some slip and thinning out, but personally, I can skip this.

This is one of the best value and best products overall in the Ordinary range. What was – and is- so revolutionary with the Ordinary is that they brought high quality ingredients, developed and tested by specialist laboratories, previously available to manufacturers only, directly to the consumer at a fraction of the price. Matrixyl is one of them. Its a peptide product that has been proven to reduce lines and wrinkles and here mixed with hyaluronic acid it is moisturising and smoothing. Superb value for money and one I hope does not vanish from the market at this price point. I really like the fact that simple ingredients are available like this so that I am able to custom blend my own skin care routine as I choose. Excellent product. I am on my second bottle.

But no. I dont have any of those, thankfully.
I’m on my 6th bottle, and that says a lot. This is another gem from The Ordinary and I seriously love this brand. Matrixyl is a cocktail of peptides and hyaluronic acid to tackle the static and dynamic wrinkles. I dont have any-yet- but prevention is the key, as I’ve started my anti-aging regime since my mid-20’s. It’s a bit syrupy clear liquid with no distinctive odor, absorps quickly and leaves your skin hydrated. As for me, I always add a cream moisturizer on top since I have dry skin. It has been a part of my AM/PM routine, and it works well under make up.
The price tag is perfect, the packaging is simple and on point. And I will keep buying it.

I am 51 with modest wrinkles starting, horizontal wrinkles, vertical wrinkles due to sagging skin and lack of moisture wrinkles that I’ve always had. My regular skincare was Asian (actually Chinese, cheaper than Korean but same effects). I have used a combination of Ordinary products for over a month. It did absolutely nothing for me. If at all my skin looks worse because its not hydrated enough. Non of my wrinkles have improved not even the lack of moisture ones which usually improve with even the cheapest moisturizer. Back to my much beloved Asian skincare.
What I have used: Matrixyl 10%, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate and Natural Moisturizing factors + Ha. I have also used the Vitamin C Suspension 23% and the Caffeine eye treatment but I binned those right away because the Caffeine made my eyes look worse and the C suspension smells like plastic.
