To start, I bought this product due to it being in the clearance area in Boots for around £2.50. I would not have bought it otherwise, it was in the after Christmas sale last year.
I have used it off and on all year and have come to the conclusion that it doesn’t do anything dramatic and I haven’t noticed a minimization in my pores. It’s very greasy, you can’t really use it on top or under a moisturiser/toner but on it’s own does not work as either so it’s a little confusing as to it’s purpose.
I am not a fan of no7 products, I do use their all day moisturiser which I was given as a gift but would not buy for £24 – their prices are steep for the performance of their products. I would prefer grabbing Cocoa butter lotion or something to use underneath primer and foundation.
I would not pay full price for this product, however it may work better on more mature skin (I am 23).

A little bit thin and slippery compared to most serums I’ve tried, and the dispenser gets clogged even with regular use, so the consistency is uneven. I’ve used this regularly through a whole bottle and haven’t noticed any changes. It absorbs quickly and is fairly odorless, but doesn’t bring anything to the table that I can tell.

If this is the one I have – Boots No7 Pore Refining Serum – then Boots recently rebranded this as the No7 Beautiful Skin Pore Minimising Serum. I’m guessing they probably realised that no one wants refined pores and would in fact prefer minimised (or in my case invisible) pores. Either way though, I just don’t get what all the fuss is about.
This did absolutely nothing for my skin or pores. I tried using it in the morning and at night after cleansing, then just in the morning and then finally just at night. In all that time (about 2 months in total) I didn’t notice any improvement in the look of my pores and for 16.00GBP a bottle I can’t afford to get another one to see if continued use would see any improvements. It also has a really runny consistency – more like that of cleansing milk – which I find odd when all the other serums I’ve tried have always been quite thick.
I’ve since discovered The Body Shop Aloe Protective Serum and although this doesn’t claim to minimise or improve the look of pores I’ve definitely seen a noticeable difference in the look and feel of my skin, so would recommend that above this one any day of the week.

I love this serum. It definitely tightens my pores at the very least. It also applies well, isn’t sticky or oily in consistency and has no annoying fragrance. I use it as a primer and just love the finish it leaves with my BB cream over it..

This Pore Refining Serum is very lightweight and almost watery in texture – it’s not slick or silicone-like like some serums. It absorbs really fast into skin. And most importantly after only 1 week of use (am and pm) on my t-zone, it has seriously shrunk the apparent size of my pores. I know that people always say that you cannot shrink your pores, and that topical products just “mask” large pores, but I can tell you that even after I wash my makeup off at night and there’s nothing on my skin, my pores look significantly smaller. Significantly. Smaller. Smoother. Refined. It’s awesome! I am very happy with this product, and I believe it does make pores smaller, because my skin shows it. I’m not sure if it’s permanent or just a temporary tightening, but my pores look really good now, and I plan on continuing to use this for as long as it continues to work. 🙂
