Received this as part of a Sephora Amore Pacific rewards set. I like the enzyme peel, but the Moisture Bound Refreshing Hydra-Gel is horrible. I’ve used it twice and the smell is so overpowering and nauseating. It smells like cheap perfume. It is an average moisturizer, but nothing you put on your face should have such a cloying, unnatural smell. And I can’t believe this stuff is so expensive!

I have dry, combination skin that is (hormonal) acne prone and extremely sensitive. I have tried a million products, but was recommended this from a friend with similar skin and I’m SO HAPPY she did. I normally experience bad breakouts once a month, and I haven’t had any issues for the last three. On top of that, the pigmentation and acne scarring on my face have been noticably reduced. I live in a dry climate and used this for winter and summer and am extremely pleased with both. The price point is high, but I find I don’t need to use that much (especially in the morning) so the tub ends up lasting me a couple months. Still, for $130 CAD, this is one of those “buy it after you try a sample” products. I’ve also tried the overnight moisture mask from the line and really like that. If you’re looking for a *cheaper option with similar results. *($70CAD)

I sampled this gel out of a AP package 4 piece set I bought that contained the enzyme peel, treatment foaming cleanser, hydra-gel, and toner. I bought this package mainly for the enzyme peel and foaming cleanser but tried the hydra-gel not too long ago. I was skeptical about the gel because gel moisturizers don’t seem to be moisturizing based on my personal experience. They dry out my face and doesn’t make my face feel hydrated. Suprisingly enough, this gel was actually hydrating. The gel is a light blue-ish color and a little thicker than a normal gel lotion. There’s a faint scent to it which I don’t mind, even on my sensitive skin. It would be better without but it didn’t affect me. It comes in a tub sort of package which is bulky unfortunately, as the picture illustrates. Definitely not travel friendly. I apply this gel like it’s a facial cream, so after I apply toner and serum. I don’t apply this on my eyes as some reviewers have done. This is the hydra-gel for the face, not the eye cream. I use a separate eye cream for around the eyes. My face feels hydrated and not dry after applying this. Mind you, I have only applied this gel during the spring/summer months. I have yet to try this product in the dry winter time; however, I have a great facial moisturizier for people with dry skin and or winter time (Impruv brand). Wearing this gel did not give me any side effects such as acne or milia etc. The full price for this product is $100USD so again, not exactly in most people’s price point. I would not purchase this in full size, as it is quite pricey for a gel moisturizer. But just based on the product itself, I wouldn’t mind using it providing it wasn’t so expensive. If I were purchase this again, I’d buy it again in the 4 piece set as it is $50.

I have to agree with emmdub’s review on this eye gel. This product is an absolute NO NO. I received two samples of this and finally decided to use it one night. Immediately after applying this gel to my eye area, I regretted it. The gel has this artificial fragrant scent to it which was too overpowering. Frankly, an eye gel should not have fragrance as an ingredient in it because it is an irritant and can cause milia to develop around the eye. That is a big big NO. It is also appalling that this gel retails at $85, before tax. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

No, no, no, no. I got a sample of this from my Glossybox and was so excited to try it. I gave it a shot, using it for about a week – it didn’t take long for me to know this was NOT for me! Ew, it broke me out terribly! I hardly ever break out and my poor pores were clogging left and right. I wish it didn’t do this to me because I loved how it felt after I put it on. It feels almost like a silicone primer, which makes sense as to why it would clog my pores and break me out if that is the way it feels. Checking the ingredients, I was right! Polysilicone. If silicone breaks you out, avoid this!! Parabens and cones all over the ingredients list. Ick, nast.

received this as a sample with a recent sephora purchase; i am absolutely in love!! gel moisturizer is a must for me in the humid summer months. this sinks into the skin quickly and leaves my face feeling very hydrated. i have combo skin and get very oily in the t-zone, and while wearing this moisturizer i felt i had to blot away excess oil less frequently. i really wish i could purchase this, but at $100 it’s just not in my beauty budget. maybe for xmas 🙂

I cannot say enough good things about this moisturizer. I have extremely oily skin, really prone to clogging and I used to avoid moisturizer like the plague. They felt greasy, just sat on my skin and felt really uncomfortable, even the infamous la mer one. This one however, I love. Its really light but so amazingly moisturizing. Its perfect. Just perfect. My skin looks glowing and pampered. I cleanse with the cleansing foam, use the treatment toner followed by a vit c serum or an exfoliating one then top with this moisturizer. If i need a little more hydration, i spray the skin energy spray on first, then massage in the gel while my skin is still damp. This regimen has taken my skin from crappy, spotty skin that I was really embarrassed by to awesome. I don’t know why its taken me so long to write this review but this gel and the other products I’ve tried in the line get a big thumbs up from me.

I live in the desert & I admit that I don’t drink as much water as I should, so my skin is pretty dry. I’ve also had to have skin grafts on one side of the face so the skin is a bit irregular and red/splotchy in that area. The “normal” side of the face is also dry & prone to breakouts; what a combination! So I’ve tried the gamut of skin products; high end products, drug store products, natural, anything. I got a sample of the gel from Sephora & fell in love with it instantly. I bought the full size gel & use it both at night & morning.
It IS pricey, but it’s definitely not the most expensive thing I’ve tried/seen either. The results are worth the money & it should last you awhile; you don’t have to slather it on like cold cream. It does have a rather strong, fragrant odor which I’d say you’d either love or hate; no in between. The scent reminds me of something my grandmother would wear as perfume, but I can live with it. While my skin is dry, it’s not overly sensitive so I do have to wonder if something so fragrant may cause a person with sensitive skin to breakout or have some other adverse reaction such as the redness I’ve read about in other reviews.
For my personal use & purposes, the gel is insanely fabulous! My skin has never felt like this. It goes on extremely light and it instantly moisturizes without feeling heavy; I can deal with the smell as I bought it for it’s moisturizing properties, not the scent. After being so pleased with the gel, I’ve bought more Amore Pacific skin products for cleansing & hope to report on them soon!

pros:
light feel
not sticky
cons:
absorbs a little too slowly
strange fragrance
my experience:
used a sample of this, and was a little put off by the fragrance and how goopy it was. It takes a little longer than lotion to absorb because it’s a gel, but it leaves my skin dewy, smooth and hydrated. No allergic reactions and quick results within a half hour of application. Fragrance lingers a bit longer than most scented lotions, but eventually disappears by half-day. Retail price is unstomachable. Pass!
