   I was not as impressed with this product as I was hoping to be. It also broke my face out in pimples after just a couple of uses. It ran out extremely fast too. It’s not a lot of product in that bottle and wasn’t exactly cheap on the wallet. It wasn’t that great as a makeup primer. It did apply silky and was smooth. That’s about the only good thing about it. But I wasn’t overly impressed. Especially since it broke me out.

   I use retin-a on my face every night, and live in an extremely dry climate – in other words, my fight against dry, flaky looking skin is a constant battle. I was looking for a primer that would work well layered over heavy moisturizer, and smooth out any flaking that might show up once I add foundation to the mix.

   This product is marketed as more of a moisturizer from what I can tell, but the rep at the MAC counter recommended it for me to use as more of a primer. The $45 price tag seems more reasonable if using this as a moisturizer, but $45 primer? It needs to be fantastic.

   This product certainly didn’t make anything worse, but it also didn’t make anything better. I tried it for a week and now I’m returning it because it just seemed so unnecessary. Again, there were not any negative effects after using it, but it did not add anything beneficial to my skincare/makeup routine either.

   This product may have more potential for others that don’t share my skin type and climate, but I wasn’t very impressed.

   I’m so sad ????. I’ve been a fan of this product for the last 5 months. As I finished up my first bottle, I was heartbroken by a discovery. The ingredients list shows silica. I have an allergic sensitivity to silicone. So this is the cause of the relatively mild rash on the tops of my cheeks!

   I’m guessing that the reaction was mild because I always use a tiny amount of oil under all of my cheek moisturizers. I have combination skin with an oily t-zone and dry cheeks. Also, I only used a small amount of this product each time on my cheeks, say 1/2 of a pea, The oil was setting a nice moisturizing base and minimized the amount of this expensive MAC product that I needed. Since my daily foundation is matte, I was going for heavy moisturizing against my naturally dry cheeks.

   But if you don’t have a silicone sensitivity, there are many reasons to try this product. First, the primer made my skin remarkably smooth like butter. The makeup just looked like it was sitting flawlessly on top of my skin. Second, the product truly provided great moisture. Third, I only needed to use a tiny amount of the product each day. So while the product is expensive to bring home at about $45, the bottle lasted 5 months for me.

   You should definitely try this product!

   This stuff is weird.

   I wanted to love it. Badly. The MAC girl recommended it for my immature-mature dry-ish skin, to wear as a primer under all my MAC foundations. (I wear Pro-Longwear, Pro-Longwear Nourishing Waterproof, and Waterweight in NC20, plus she gave me a sample of Mac Mineralise, as I wanted to go for a more dewy finish.)

   Under the Mineralise, it was a definite NO. On me, despite being a non-oily person, the Mineralise just did not set (stayed wet to the touch) no matter what primer I used underneath, even a moisturiser which I allowed to sink in first. (The Mineralise worked best like a BB cream, with NOTHING underneath – see my review on Mineralise). However, using Timecheck UNDER Mineralise, it only compounded the non-setting problem. I may as well have worn a liquified form of vaseline on my face, instead of makeup. It NEVER set, remained completely wet, and just dripped off my face. To try to be as kind and fair as I can, I must mention I live in Queensland, Australia and it is summer. But I didn’t go outside, and wasn’t sweating especially. Possibly the heat may have just melted it.

   Wait no. It wasn’t the heat. Because I used Timecheck under my Pro-Longwear also (which always stays on for me no matter what the weather), and Timecheck turned it to wet sloppy mush.

   It seems to me that Timecheck is “The Anti-Primer”, spoken of in Makeup End Times Prophecy, since it makes any foundation I put over it UNABLE TO SET. (I haven’t tried it under the Waterproof yet, so may add to this review later. I only use my Waterproof if I’m going swimming, and it would be a shame to put Timecheck under it and it lose it’s water-proofability.)

   I see a lot of people praise this lotion/primer, which is why I’ve been careful to add my situation (climate, products used with it, skin type) in case these are factors.

   I won’t be buying it. Maybe it would work for someone with dry skin, under a very drying matte foundation. In winter.

   I have open pores (they’re not terrible) but I just needed something to cover them slightly without clogging them up. I have tried many different blur creams and they seems to have this horrid thick layered texture and for someone who doesn’t wear much make up it’s not a good look!
   I paid a visit to MAC last week and came across this beauty! It’s absolutely amazing and lots of people have commented on how great my skin looks – this is definitely a beauty ‘must-have’ if like me you want something light and it definitely isn’t sticky on the face…less is more! Will definitely be stocking up on this 🙂

   I usually don’t use mac, but yesterday I went to the shop with a friend who was picking up some new lip colors. While I was browsing I came across this Timecheck Lotion. I asked what it was for and the salesgirl told me it was a primer, used to smooth lines and pores. I’m out of mine (I usually use Avon Magix), so I said why not give it a try.. Now, I’m in Hong Kong. Everything here is a little more expensive. It cost me $450 HKD which is close to 60 USD. The bottle is 30 oz.
   I tried this morning… YUCK! it leaves my face super sticky. it does nothing for smoothing or “perfecting”. It makes my foundation look really thick – which… I love my foundation… It never looks thick or cakey.

   This stuff is garbage. What a waste.

   I have tried many primers i.e. kat von d primer, smash box-photo ready, dr.jart, and even tried lush vanishing cream ( moisturiser) to try and find the perfect under makeup primer/moisturiser.

   Although, to no avail, until I tried this stuff! Yes it is silicone based, so to very acnegenic skin types, this may cause breakouts. But, this hasnt been the case yet with me * knock on wood*
   If you read paula choice she actually praises this stuff for all the ingredients in it, & admits that actually nourish the skin! ( the frosted glass actually keeps the contents not exposed to light, which in turn keeps all the antioxidants active)

   Works amazing under most foundations ive tried- albiet one, Kat Von D lock it foundation
   ( but nothing looks good under that)
   But so far;
   -tarte
   -revlon color stay
   -almay clear complexion
   -almay tlc
   -mac prolong wear

   I put it on and let it sit for a bit, apply my makeup it STAYS on while I blend in my foundation, which I felt smashbox lacked-seemed to sit on the pores and face and mix in with the foundation not actually stay put on the skin during application. This sinks in, creating a way more flawless finish. Good bye pores, dryness & superficial acne scaring.

   * one star off for price 44$$ !!! – But ill repurchase nonetheless.

   SO………… I got suckered into buying this at the MAC counter at Macy’s…..$44!!!!!!!!!! I used it twice, I did like the texture and consistency… I didn’t really feel like it blurred anything… and it’s just a moisturizer ( even though the gal sold it to me as a primer ) anyhoo, I couldn’t live with spending $44 on this product… SO I returned it and went to ULTA… I found RIMMEL LASTING FINISH PRIMER— Same consistency as this Mac lotion BUT.. this is longlasting and BLURS…. ANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNND was only $5.99 on sale..( normally, $6.99) UM HECK YES! SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO if you want to spend $44 on this be my guest but the RIMMEL is better and cheaper! Hope this saves someone money! =)

   Overall:
   This feels great, but my not-usually-sensitive skin reacts to it. I use it as a primer, either by itself or under MAC Face & Body foundation. The initial application is like a splash of cool water, and it leaves my skin feeling and looking silky all day. Though it definitely helps my foundation go on smoother, I’m not sure about its effect on wear time.

   Buying Experience:
   I bought this when I got matched for my MAC Face & Body foundation. The salesperson upsold this to me, which I was happy with because I had a large gift card and I had never used a primer before.

   My Skin:
   I have generally normal skin, which sometimes leans combination with flakes on my forehead and oil on my chin. I typically have 1-3 hormonal bumps on my chin. Before this product, I never noticed a reaction to anything I’ve put on my face.

   Reaction:
   Although this feels fantastic when I apply it, my skin instantly turns red and then slowly calms down. At the end of the day or the day after I use it, I notice a new pimple on my chin or even my cheek (where I never break out).

   Price:
   $44 for an ounce of lotion is outrageous for my budget. I got this for free with a rewards gift card, and I would never spend my own money on it.

   Packaging:
   It comes in a frosted glass bottle topped with hygienic pump. I like it, but I would fear breakage when traveling.

    CONS

    – price
    – a lot of product needed

    COMMENTS: Lightly hydrating primer/lotion. It gives a pretty, luminous finish. It doesn’t feel tacky or heavy. It’s very lightweight and absorbs quickly. It’s not going to fill in pores as well as other primers will, but it does help. I did notice my makeup going on much more smoothly and my skin retained moisture better. I’m not fond of the price tag, especially since a little does not go a long way. It absorbs so quickly that I find myself using more than I would like. It doesn’t have that slip that most primers do, so I end up going through the bottle fast. It’s a great product, but I wish I didn’t need to use so much of it.

    Will not repurchase.
