I read so many good reviews and I really wanted to love this but after 3 days and nights of using this, 2 big fat bumps appeared on my cheeks (I don’t break out there at all unless my skin doesn’t agree to a product).
So I gave up. My friend and I decided to DIY our own body scrubs with salt since I’ve got 50ml of grapeseed oil and 50ml of castor oil (there is no way I’d apply castor to my face – it’s just way too thick!)
My back acne had cleared up recently with a couple small ones popping up every now and then, but after using the DIY scrub, my back broke out all over again. Big sigh.
No more oils for me.

This oil is perfect for my acne-prone, super sensitive and super dehydrated skin that gets oily and itchy. I’ve learned from mistakes that it is crucial to use an moisturising essence or face water first and then apply the oil. It works like magic and I have tried to find a solution for my skin for years and years! I’ve spent so much money and tried many other oils and fancy creams but nothing has worked as great as this. I no longer get that red, itchy oily feeling skin that was inevitable before.

I’ve been using 100% pure grape seed oil on my skin for about 3 years now. I use the grape seed oil to remove my eye make up. I then use a mild cleanser that contains almond oil to clean my skin. Then I moisturize as my final step with grapeseed oil before I go to bed. My skin has improved to the point where I no longer need to wear foundation every day. I love makeup and enjoy putting it on, it leaves a flawless look, however, I no longer need it. My skin looks great and provides a great foundation for a good face of makeup when I want to wear it. I recommend this oil as a moisturizer for everyone who has combination skin type. If you research your skin type you will find the oil that works for you – grape seed may not be it. Different oils are for different skin types.

I chanced upon grapeseed oil when I was researching rosehip seed oil for my face. I never could have believed that an oil will be the reason why I can now skip foundation and concealer entirely (back then, I couldn’t go anywhere without base makeup.) A little background :- my skin used to be extremely oily (makeup made it worse. By the middle of the day I used to have pools of oil around my t-zone) and I had terrible breakouts owing to clogged pores. I also had the habit of picking on my skin which resulted in leftover marks and scars that stayed for months. So when I started using grapeseed oil on cleansed skin at night before bed, it felt a little strange. I used it all over my face as a replacement to my night cream and within a week, my skin cleared up. Grapeseed oil is an astringent and has a mild drying property which cleans your pores and shrinks them, dries out any pimples and gives your skin an even, matte texture with a subtle glow. Now my skin feels “normal” which is saying a lot because it has never been that way. Ever. I don’t get oily during the day (but my skin never feels dry either) and I only get an occasional hormonal break out during that time of the month (which goes away in a couple days with the application of GSO). All my scars and marks have surely faded and I don’t need concealer anymore. Honestly I just need grapeseed oil and a good cleanser and I’m sorted. I switch between TBS drops of light foaming cleanser and the teatree facial wash and both seem to work incredibly well with the oil. I highly recommend giving grapeseed oil a shot. Especially if you’re oily and acne prone. It’s a lifesaver.

A lightweight, easily absorbed oil with non comedogenic properties (will not clog your pores). Grapeseed was chosen specifically for my reactive/acne prone skin because of it’s unique properties:
-Anti-inflammatory
-Antibacterial
-It’s also an antioxidant
When you have sensitive or blemish prone skin it’s very important to try and incorporate as many ingredients with these properties into your skincare regime as possible. I found the best use of the oil personally through my oil cleansing technique. I would work the oil onto my dry face before using my milky cleanser and it would begin to break down my makeup. This is amazing if you use waterproof cosmetics that are designed to not budge. If you’ve ever used coconut oil as your moisturizer and found it was a little too heavy, grape seed oil is the answer to your prayers. It makes a great lightweight body oil that has never made me feel greasy or overly saturated but still gives you the healthy, glowy skin we all want.
This oil has all of its bases covered, guaranteed to offer something to anybody at any age. If any of this resonates with you, I’d highly suggest to further look into grapeseed oil. I purchased the Aura Cacia Grapeseed oil from my nearest health food store for only a few dollars.

I love jojoba and sweet almond oil so I thought I would give this one a try… It irritated and dried my skin out. Bummer.

Grapeseed oil is my HG skincare product.
I have combination, acne-prone skin. I’ve dealt with serious dry patches in the winter as well as lots of oiliness in my T-zone as well as my cheeks.
To use this, I wash my face as normal and then slather my face in grapeseed oil prior to going to bed. It absorbs fairly quickly and you really don’t need a lot, but I like to use a little extra and really massage it in. I have also worn this under makeup with great success (just obviously you will need to use a little less). It doubles as a makeup remover and it’s very lightweight.
Not only has replacing my regular moisturizer with this oil done WONDERS for the hydration of my skin (passed a winter with zero dry patches, whaaaaaat), it’s balanced my skin to where I don’t get as oily anymore, and it totally cleared up my face as well! FINALLY something that doesn’t clog my pores. It makes my skin bright and glowy, and for the first time since I was a teenager I have regular compliments on my skin and complexion.
I recommend this to literally everyone I know because I want them to experience just how amazing it is. My boyfriend also has bad facial psoriasis, and this has cleared it up better than any kind of hydrocortisone cream. We both swear by it.
OH! And it’s wonderful and lightweight on your hair as well. All around an amazing little secret. 12/10

I’m a little late to the party but here’s what I’m using grapeseed oil for: I’ve just started a new Curology formula: Retin-A + Vitamin C + Niacinimides. After a few days I’m irritated so am taking a break and put this on for calming effect which was instantaneous. This oil came in an ugly bottle, so I decanted into an old artisanal olive oil bottle I had and was able to give it 5 stars for packaging — lol!

After reading about the entire Oil Cleansing Method deal, I decided to try it. I was going through menopause and having terrible problems with my skin. Rosacea, cystic acne, unexpected dry areas, blackheads, you name it, I probably had it!
I bought Aura Cacia grapeseed oil on sale at the local natural foods co-op and began the OCM that night. For six months I faithfully followed the protocol. All that happened was that my skin got progressively worse! I tried adding castor oil in judicious amounts as recommended, but to no avail. My skin looked worse than it had ever done in my entire life. I had to visit a dermatologist and use prescription products to get my skin calmed down again.
Sorry to say that this product and the much loved OCM didn’t work for my complexion. YMMV.

The last three weeks have had extreme cold winter temps and record breakers here in Toronto. I have been miserable and in need of even more moisture but was concerned about my clear complexion breaking out.
I have been using Rosehip Seed oil for about a month with success but was nervous about using MORE oil to MORE of my face as a barrier against the harsh winter weather.
I’m lucky to get samples of oils from a health food store of oils so I started reading/researching and seeing what was out there that could potentially work for me.
Enter Grapeseed oil.
This is a lightweight oil, with very little smell and great absorption.
I have used this for about 5 days in some of the most grueling weather conditions I have ever experienced and it has held up VERY well. My skin has not broken out – thank goodness! There is a tiny amount of flaking on both sides of my chin but I think I missed those spots when I applied in the morn because I don’t suffer from dry skin ever.
Once I get out of the shower, I put a tiny squirt into my palm and then pat all over my DAMP face. My face just glows within a few minutes and looks plumped and refreshed. It’s a really beautiful effect! Have not bothered with foundation or makeup. I just love the natural dewy look.
As a side note, I also put it on my neck to moisturize. My hair is past my shoulders and when I blow dry it, strands blow against my neck and get moisturized. As a result, my hair has been EXTRA soft! What a great bonus.
For those wondering about the amount dispensed… very easy fix.
Don’t remove the tin liner under the cap. Just puncture a SMALL hole in the center with a knife point or scissor point. Then it comes out in smaller, controlled amounts. The other alternate fix would to be put into a pump bottle or a spray bottle.
Aura Cacia is an excellent brand.
I know NOW brand gets a lot of good reviews and am confused as I highly doubt the integrity for their brand… I read something about NOW and Hexane use. Anyways, I would rather pay a little more for Aura Cacia as I trust them.
This bottle will last me a good long time.
You just need the tiniest amount.
Would like to put in a spray bottle and apply to my arms and legs out of the shower to damp skin.
Keeper!

i picked up this oil after i ran out of my beloved rosehip oil. rosehip oil converted me and made me firm believer in using facial oils over chemically laden moisturizers. however within the first two days of using this as i would normally, my skin began to feel tight, dry, and super oily! totally opposite effects rosehip had on my skin!!! then came the acne….omg….i had major clogged pores whiteheads and then some evil cystic ones. i was in utter disbelief. even fell into a slight depression over the agony my skin was in. so i quit grapeseed and went back to my old routine with rosehip. unfortunately that never gave me the same results as it initially had. nothing was helping with the major breakout i had incurred. ever since then I havent been able to get my skin to return to the clear, soft, supple, glowy look it had prior to grapeseed. this oil ruined my skin and i now stay away from oils period.

A great carrier oil or massage oil – suitable for blending with other oils and essential oils. the only problem? I can get great quality grapeseed oil cheaper at local organic food stores. Meanwhile, the packaging is nice and there is nothing wrong with this – just a bit pricey.

I am reviewing this oil as a moisturizer. This is a great moisturizer, my t-zone tends to get a bit oily towards the end of the workday, I tried this oil on Monday and no oily face. Bad me didn’t wash my face before going to bed and when I woke up the next morning, still no oily face, which I get those times I use regular moisturizer and forget to wash my face before bed. This oil goes on smooth, I pat it on my face instead of rubbing it in, the only thing is the bottle, if you squeeze it you may get more than you want on your fingers, I’m looking for a dropper bottle to put mine into.

i’m reviewing it as the body oil.
easy to spread, easy to absorb, easy to massage in, very good oil, no smell, amazing really, if you want it thicker, just add avocado oil with it, or essential oil if you want it to smell. loving it. just bought their large bottle size.
i am sure you could use it as facial oil as well or cleanser as it is so good and light. but i have not tried.

I also have acne-prone skin which loves oils. I use this as the first step in cleansing my skin at night, followed by a mild foaming cleanser. It may be too heavy to use as a moisturizer for some (including me). My last step is jojoba oil. Forget the fancy labels and high prices. Skin-healthy oils are cheap, effective, and available in the grocery aisle of your supermarket or Trader Joe’s. FYI, I find that my skin is less oily when I feed it with these oils.

I have oily acne prone skin i cut my black soap with this and i can wash my face longer. This is the only oil that doesnt break me out. This is an updated review. I used nature Republic aloe gel which left me with cystic pustules and irritated dry skin. I whipped out this still using my cerave foaming cleanser with drinking at least 5 bottles of water. I have a glow a real glow with in using this for two days morning and night. I also noticed when using this with cerave foaming cleanser this does not dry out my skin unlike when I use grapeseed oil with raw African black soap. The dry patch on my nose is gone. I have combination skin in winter and oily in summer. I am sensitive to all acids including hylauronic acids. This is my holy grail moisturizer and also a great oil for my hair.

I use Grapeseed oil to remove my makeup. It is a gentle oil with many benefits including: moisturizes skin, treats acne, diminishes scarring, tightens skin, anti-aging properties, minimizes dark under-eye circles. Those reasons alone are enough to add it to your beauty regime. I am currently pregnant and plan to use this on my belly as it grows, to help keep stretch marks at bay. I do enjoy using these simple, natural, nourishing oils in my skincare routines instead of other products found on shelves with diluted ingredients, additives, and a high price tag. I like to use Grapeseed oil, Rosehip Seed oil, and Jojoba oil for skincare.

I use this oil after waxing to get rid of wax stuck to my skin. It makes it very easy to rub the wax residue off. I do have to wash the oil off afterwards. The oil feels thick and sticky.

I have been alternating Grape Seed and Almond oils as my overall skin and hair moisturizers for several years now. Inexpensive and effective.

LOVE this. Jojoba was my initiation in the world of oils, but, after reading how this was a decent alternative for oily/acne prone skin, I bought a bottle and am fully converted.
It’s thinner than jojoba, but still fully blendable, and does not shine through makeup. Has not caused any breakouts in the few weeks since I switched.
I concur on the packaging being annoying, so I transferred into a little plastic cosmetic bottle from the Container Store that lets you squeeze out one drop at a time.
