Allies of Skin Bright Future Sleeping Facial would be an HG product for me if not for the price (50ml/$120USD). As with all AOS masks, it is intended to function as an all-in-one product, capable of fulfilling all skincare needs post-cleansing and toning. If you’re a simple regimen person, this is your dream.
This mask contains a mixture of 8% AHAs and BHAs (glycolic, lactic, salicylic) and 5% enzymes, retinal, brightening ingredients, and antioxidants, and high molecular weight hyaluronic acid to seal in the ingredients. It is layerable over other serums. AOS recommends something like a (lower weight) hyaluronic serum and I caution limiting serums in number and to those which are lightweight and water-based to avoid pilling. The mask struggles when layered with products high in oils due to the HA layer, so it’s best to use a gel moisturizer if you feel the need to add an extra layer of hydration (I would give the mask time to set) or to mix a very small amount of face oil into the mask. I’ve not had luck applying oil-based products on top of the mask, even after an hour’s wait.
This product really delivers on the results. While it is a retinoid product, I would regard it more in terms of acids and brightening than cellular turnover (the retinal content is low and intended to be used in conjunction with a retinoid regimen). I saw results after one use—my face appeared both brighter and smoother. Given the acid content, I’d suggest anyone with sensitive skin patch test first. (It’s worth noting that Allies currently does not accept returns, so purchasing through an alternate retailer with a flexible return policy may be worth considering.) The mask is intended to be used for three consecutive nights per week and alternated with another AOS product, though I’ve had no issues continuing my preferred regimen and using Bright Future either for the recommended consecutive nights or just as needed.
Bright Future comes in a soft tube with airtight pump, which is positive in theory as it provides protection but also ensures there’s minimal waste (as the tube can be cut open and isn’t susceptible to shattering). I’ve marked the packaging down one lippie as my current tube seems to struggle releasing product (presumably a faulty pump) and cutting it open this early compromises the product. I’m unsure what caused the pump to fail (i.e. manufacturing or a fall), but I do recommend storing upright in any case.
