This is hands down the best sunscreen I have ever used, and as a skin cancer survivor I have used lots! It doesn’t break me out and smells divine. Goes nicely under make up and gives me pleasure knowing I am not only protected from the sun, but also from free radicals (pollution, smoke, oxidation, etc) because of the antioxidants in it. It is a smooth texture everytime because I order directly from the source rather than going the cheaper route (Amazon, Ebay, etc) These products do have a shelf life because of all the quality ingredients and the reason they are being sold so cheap online is because of the need to turn over product. Be aware of these tid bits of advice!

I used to LOVE this, but the “new and improved” version with SPF 33 is not at all the same. It almost feels grainy, and the smell is not as pleasant. It is possible I got a bad tube but somehow I doubt it. I have a hard time wearing this under makeup now as it “balls up” on me. Very disappointed that a beloved product was ruined. 2 stars because it still has high quality ingredients, and I can wear it at the beach (without makeup) and not burn.

Honestly, I expected a lot more from this based on the reviews on Amazon. It is not terrible, but it is not great. It feels like something is on constantly, and I hate that I can’t wait to take it off. Scent stays with (why put a scent?) all day. I’m sensitive to scents. You end up looking shiny when first applied (need powder, which I don’t wear), and then at the end of the day you look oily. Fail on all levels except that it doesn’t leave a whitecast. I stopped using it before I could break out to it, but it was thick — way too emollient and sticky feeling for my taste. Also, somewhat pricey seeing that you have to use 1/4 a tsp every day just to cover the face.
Since this, I’ve moved on to Neutrogena’s Breakout-Free SPF 30, which is only $10. That one feels like nothing on, smells like nothing, leaves no whitecast, and doesn’t mattify or make you look oily. I also can wear a serum underneath because it’s not thick. I highly recommend that one for anyone who likes a natural glow (not too much face makeup) and for those who have acne-prone or oily skin. In my opinion, trying to combine a serum with an SPF, which is what Jan Marini seems to have tried here, is not a good idea. It is better to find a basic SPF, then a serum that fits your particular skin’s needs.
VERDICT: Serum and SPF in one? Flawed idea, esp for acne-prone/oily/combination skins. Heavy, sticky, shiny. Would not repurchase.

I use all of the jan marini steps plus a few more, I love the consistency of this and the dewy finish it leaves. My 10 year old daughter uses it everyday too !

Lightweight sunscreen that wears well under makeup. I have oily skin and this does not create more oily or cause breakouts. Light fragrance.

product goes on smoothly and is not greasy. after application, can put on foundation without trouble. some spf products ball up but this product does not.
it seem to have a primer effect. Does not break me out.

Looked forward to using this product after reading lots of great reviews, but was disappointed.It made my face sting and did nt look as well under makeup as the Clarins u v protect ,also Clarins has a higher spf.I will be sending it back.

This has become my daily SPF + antioxidant. I can’t say anything negative about it. I have sensitive skin that gets easily irritated by fragrance or harsh products – this one has a mild smell and the SPF does not bother me. It’s very light, you do not feel sticky or like a film is on your face like some other SPF creams can. i have the pump bottle – it looks different than the pic here. Sleek, simple packaging. Yes it’s expensive but I need daily SPF and something that doesn’t make me breakout or itch and this does the job. I bought mine in Feb and now it’s almost July and it’s almost finished (daily use). I will be repurchasing.

I almost never wore sunscreen because I could find NOTHING that met my few expectations: 1) not make me an oily mess, 2) not break me out, 3) not mess with my makeup 4) not cause skin irritation 5) not give me a ghost face on my NC30-35 skintone
Almost every suncreen I tried applied (and stayed oily). The exception was La Roche Posay Anthelios, which was super liquidy and acted like super glue: sticky, and very quick drying (you barely had time to rub it in before it dried in a strip and was hard to apply makeup over!). It also broke me out. Neutrogena Non-Greasy caused my eyelids to become sore after a few days.
Consequently, when I first got Jan Marini, I thought it was the best sunscreen I was ever going to get. It didn’t apply oily (nor matte, just sort of like a regular moisturizer). Although it was waterproof (which I didn’t really need), it was’t ridiculously hard to remove and I didn’t have to use a cleansing oil (those tend to break me out too). It had antioxidants. The down point, however, was that my makeup faded MUCH faster with this on. I had about half of the makeup I usually have on my initial face wipe at the end of the day. However, I started playing around with primers, hoping to find something to counteract this.
Why the 3? I have since moved on. I have combo skin, and I don’t usually use a moisturizer in the morning. I think the Jan Marini is sort of like a facial moisturizer, which was why my makeup faded so fast. Plus, I have come across the miracle products: Peter Thomas Roth Uber-Dry Sunscreen SPF 30, Peter Thomas Roth Clini-Matte All Day Oil-Control SPF 20, and Obagi Nu-Derm Sun Shield SPF 50. These are wonderful cream sunscreens that apply DRY. Not super glue dry like La Roche Posay, but like invisible dry. They also meet all the requirements I first listed in this review.
Conclusion: Jan Marini is no longer the best in my book. It may be wonderful for dry skintypes, or for those that need a moisturizer in the morning. It is better than most I have tried, but no longer a 4-5 star product.

This is the BEST facial sunscreen I have ever used. It wears perfectly under makeup. The price is very high therefore I limited myself to one tube at the start of spring and it lasts almost to fall.
