The Hand Treatment
It is a creamy emulsion that is somewhat easy to apply on the hands.
Although it does have an array of excellent actives and emollients, I find it on the light side and feel that it does not provide enough hydration especially after getting in contact with water.
It is more adequate during the warmer months than in the cold and dry winter month.
The formula is identical to two Estee Lauder Co. brands Re-Nutriv Intensive Smoothing Hand Crème and Make A Difference™ Rejuvenating Hand Treatment.

I love this cream, it sinks in so fast there’s nothing that I’ve tried in the past that comes close to this. But I have to give an honest review, my only complaint would be the scent! It has a very strong weird smell, sort of smells like a new doll scent out of the box but a ranched stale scent that’s why I cannot believe that some of the reviews are loving the scent but looking at the dates they were posted I’m wondering if this was reformulated a couple times. I even asked my husband and he said, with a question mark lemons?? If it were lemons I’d be happy ha I only put it on twice a day and gasp at the scent it leaves behind! I use another hand cream during the day because this is quite expensive so I try to use it sparingly but like I mentioned before I have a real hard time getting pass the smell which lingers for quite some time. I read all the reviews and a lot of reviews say it smells good, heavenly (I have yet to experience that joy!) and some say the same thing I said that it has an unusual scent. So because of the not so good experience, sadly I probably will not re-purchase this hand treatment, unless the formula changes/improves. Hence the three stars, believe me when I say I am hoping the scent gets changed to where I want to buy again, but for $90. and I’m not happy, this will probably be a one time purchase.

I rarely purchase luxury hand creams but the formulation, texture, scent and packaging is so elegant that it’s hard to resist. It smooths on beautiful after washing your hands and try to apply it whenever you can. Hands need to be taken care of especially in this day and age. I will not be repurchasing as I prefer Estee Lauder RE-Nutiv hand cream.

I remember purchasing La Mer’s ‘The Hand Treatment’ for the first time all the way back in 2004 when the packaging used to mention the formula containing the ‘whitening complex’ – and when it used to cost a lot less than the $90 it is today! Despite the increasing cost I have re-purchased this over the years a few times, alternating with Chantecaille ‘Retinol Hand Cream’ and a few other faves. Not a fan of greasy hand creams and in that department this works well for me, it sinks in and leaves hands plumped and moist but not greasy or oily. It does have a pleasant fragrance which is not overly strong or overpowering. I didn’t notice any brightening or lightening effect but as a hand moisturizer it does the job, and pretty well at that. I would have given 5 lippies if price had not increased so much, but alas it has and hence the rating. Will re-purchase nonetheless.

Within a month of use:
Pros:
-It immediately sinks into your skin, leaves no greasy residue
-Once applied, hands become airy, plumped and fluffy for some reason
Cons:
-Its effect is only temporary that lasts an hour or two, even after using it twice/thrice a day for a whole month.
-Sometimes the fragrance in it turns into an abysmal metallic odour

I’m wasn’t big on hand cream before, but this one made me change my mind! It instantly makes the skin soft and smooth, without any creamy or heavy residue. It’s pricey but delivers amazing results.

I’ve repurchased this almost 4 times now.
It softens the skin and the smell is lovely.
A tiny amount is suffice.
It’s a bit pricey but so worth it!

I alternate with La Mer hand treatment and Jo Malone’s vitamin E hand lotion. I use this this during the winter when my hands get so dry, they crack 🙁 I always keep a spare at work, the water is way too drying and this fixes that problem in a jiffy.

On the fence with La Mer’s Hand Treatment. I am a loyal user of the Creme de la Mer which obviously is infamously rich and pampering so I was expecting similar properties in a hand cream from this brand. While I think this is a nice product, I don’t find the formula quite rich enough, unfortunately. Applied before bedtime, it does leave me with soft hands in the morning, but nothing that a lower priced lotion would not do. Smoothing effects did not last beyond one hand washing, and for the high price I would expect some prolonged effectiveness which this light formula does not deliver for me.
Pros:
– Lightweight
– Sinks in easily without greasy residue
– Good product for on the go
– Pleasant soft scent
Cons:
– No lasting effects
– $75 (!!!!) per tube, 3.4 oz/100ml
I have indicated that I would not repurchase. I plan to use the remainder of the tube when I am out and about, but the current formulation is not HG material for me.
