I had severely damaged hair from a full bleach process. Apart from a combination of Aphogee 2-step protein treatment, Olaplex and Redken PH bonder, I used this to gently cleanse my hair. The company states that you can use it to replace shampooing every 2-3 times, but I use it much more often. The only time I use shampoo nowadays is when I use a clarifying shampoo to get rid of product build up, perhaps a couple of times a month. I find that the GOSH cleansing conditioner cleanses gently and effectively – when used correctly. I didn’t bother reading the instructions in the beginning and ended up with oily hair. I just massaged the roots with the cleanser and rinsed, like I would with a shampoo. The proper way is to lightly massage the cleanser into roots and pull it through till the ends, let it sit for a few minutes – very important; if you don’t leave it to react with the oils and dirt in your hair, you’ll end up with oily hair -, then rinse. Depending on the state of your hair, you can follow with a conditioner or a mask (which I always use instead of conditioner). I highly recommend this cleanser for hair that is chemically treated, dry or frizzy, or for people with a sensitive scalp, as either a supplement or replacement for shampoo. I have heard that it is similar to New Wash from Hair Story, though I haven’t tried this brand myself.
