I’ve previously only had bad experiences with purple shampoos stripping my hair of moisture and failing to neutralize brassy tones (I’m looking at you, Clairol Shimmer Lights and Ion Cool Blonde!), so I had very low expectations for the Eva NYC Tone It Down Blonde shampoo. I’m so glad the sales associate at Sally Beauty Supply recommended it! I ended up falling madly in love with this purple shampoo after just the first use: it smells like marshmallows and argan oil, it doesn’t dry my hair out, and it successfully removes unwanted brassiness.
I haven’t yet purchased the matching conditioner as I’m trying to use up a purple conditioner from a different brand.
UPDATE: I still love this shampoo BUT I had to take a break from it for a few weeks due to protein overload. My hair became brassy during the weeks I didn’t use it. I just used it again tonight and it feels and looks good again!
