This product is an absolute staple in the salon! Used for general to heavier clarifying, this shampoo can remove heavy product buildup caused from regular product use or products that are not salon quality and formulated with things like parabens. I use this product in nearly every service, especially color and men’s services, to ensure my colors deposit in a consistent manner and my men’s hair isn’t product ridden (because let’s face it, men seldom use products that are salon quality and good for their hair causing it to be more oily and heavy.) I use this before I shampoo my men’s hair with desired shampoo to make sure the products I am using act as they are intended to. I use this before nearly all color services, especially in cases where my client does not use salon quality product in order to maintain their hair, to ensure that the color deposits (or like with a semi, layers the outside of the hair) evenly and in a true to tone fashion, and in manner that would create consistency through out. Any time your hair is feeling too heavy, oily, or you have used a product that was formulated with parabens and such, this product is perfect for rectifying that. I never allow myself to be without this product in the salon because it is so helpful in providing consistent results among each and every service provided. I do not recommend Shampoo 2 for hair that has been treated with a semi-permanent or demi-permanent hair color as this product is very clarifying and could have a negative effect on the colors. Negative effects such as, stripping a semi-permanent to a point which it will have to be reapplied and processed again because it is faded out to a point of almost nonexistence and causing severe patchiness and stripping a demi-permanent to where it is super faded before it’s time or causing patchiness which will most of the time require a reapplication sooner than expected. I do, however, recommend Shampoo 2 before services such as these as well as before permanent color services, lightening services, shampooing before styling, and for an extra boost of cleanliness on the hair strands. As with all JPMS products, this shampoo is never tested on animals!

My hair is fine, straight, and somewhat oily. I don’t use a lot of styling products, but find that if I don’t use a clarifying shampoo every so often, it gets weighed down and looks dull and flat. I’ve tried a few clarifying shampoos over the years, but somehow I always end up at Shampoo Two.
This lathers up nicely and you don’t need to use a lot. It smells nice–lemony, and rinses clean. I do notice a difference when I use this–my hair seems to have more body. On the downside, I can’t use this every day because it does seem to dry my hair a little and make it more prone to tangling. Typically I don’t use this with a conditioner.
When I feel like my hair needs to be “purged” of styling product/conditioner build up, this is great. It seems to be a bit much for everyday, but 1-2 times a week keeps my hair from looking limp. I will likely try other clarifying shampoos, but it’s a safe bet that I’ll be back to Shampoo Two.

I have used Redken’s hair cleansing cream for a long time and decided to try a new higher end clarifying shampoo. I was debating between this and shampoo three but seeing as this is more for oily hair and the other more for swimmers I decided to go with this one. Redken’s hair cleansing cream feels exactly like the name implies: very creamy and gentle. This shampoo two is so thin and clear but has the same lemony smell that the redken does which is a very nice, fresh aroma. The shampoo two takes a lot more product to lather than the redken but my hair is still left clean without any residue from the daily styling products I use. I still need a deep conditioner after this but I just use the Color Protect Reconstructive Treatment from Paul Mitchell and my hair is left shiny and smooth.

This one is almost HG status for me. Clarifies without over drying and after a couple of months of once a week use, my hair is actually much less oily. I now use it every 2-3 of weeks if I feel its needed and I can keep washing my hair only twice a week in between. After years if being so oily I had to wash my hair every day, I love the results.
The reason its not HG for me is that it is strong and I think caused some shedding so I do find I use it less than I used to. Is there a once-a-month HG?

I love this shampoo. I have a very oily scalp and a lot of fine, wavy hair. This shampoo cleans my hair and scalp but does not strip or dry my hair. It leaves my hair shiny, soft, and full of body. I tend to shampoo every day however I can skip a day of shampooing with the use of this shampoo if I would like w/o feeling gross. I feel the use of this shampoo has boosted the results of my conditioner, which is at the moment Joico K-PAK Intense Hydrator.

I have still not found a better clarifying shampoo for price than this. I combine with #3 for cleaning before applying henna and for post-swimming, and always follow with deep conditioner. I wish there was an all-natural alternative but as far as I can tell, this is the best one your money can buy if you aren’t swimming in money!

I struggle with very oily hair and for awhile I was switching between sulfate-free shampoos (OGX) and Lush’s shampoo bars. The sulfate-free was not cleansing enough for my oily hair and the Lush shampoo bars made my hair feel dry and just overall bad. But this shampoo is amazing. Originally I thought that a clarifying shampoo would way too much stripping for my hair but this stuff is the perfect in between of just getting rid of excess oil leaving my hair shiny and healthier feeling. Did not expect this from a sulfate shampoo. As far as smell goes, it’s not a scent that I like nor dislike, but regardless the scent is very light which I appreciate and the smell does not linger after it has been rinsed out. If you don’t like strong fragrances, like myself, this is a perfect product for you.

I really like this shampoo, I’ve gone through several bottles in the past few years. My hair is fine and wavy, and prone to build up. This cleans my hair thoroughly without drying it out or tangling. Nice lemony scent, too. I use it once in a while to clarify, but if I increase use, it doesn’t dry my hair out. I wish there was a conditioner to match. The shampoo 3 clarifying and chelating shampoo is also fantastic.

I remember that, as a child, having my hair washed and later on moving/shaking my head to smell the beautiful fragrance of whatever shampoo it was that was being used. I was able to do that because I didn’t have a build-up of product in my hair; different products with different consistencies that just outdo each other. Well, today it was childhood revisited. I have a color appointment tomorrow and would like to prep so that my color will adhere quickly and easily. This clarifying shampoo lathers up nicely, removing product build-up and even chlorine, rinses out extremely well and smells great.
A reminder however – – this is not for daily use on color treated hair. Great product and I will buy again!

I really like this shampoo. Usual;ly, I use drugstore hair care products, but my roommate had a bottle of this and said I could try it, as I’ve never used a clarifying shampoo before. I was under the wrong impression that if I used it, my hair would be gross and dry. Not so! It really does remove residue from styling products and treatments, to make hair soft and full of volume.
