I wanted to love this for all obvious reasons – it’s eco friendly and smells divine – but it made my hair terribly unmanageable. I was told I had to try it a few times in order to get my hair used to it, but it just made it more and more frizzy. Maybe this shampoo is just not the best thing for thick, frizzy hair, or maybe I just didn’t give it enough time, but it just didn’t work for me.

I usually buy lush’s solid shampoos because they’re zero waist (plus they’re not tested in animals), but this one I love: It works as a two in one and smells wonderful (jasmine). My hair is soft and has volume after using it. The only con is the price: it’s kind of a small bar and a little expensive.

After a month using it a am re-evaluating: I still agree with everything above except about the smell: I got sick of it, but If you don’t have a problem with the smell, then I recommend this shampoo.

Went in store in search of a new shampoo since my formerly beloved Copperhead shampoo bar is now only sold online. I have bleached, red hair in a long boy cut so I needed something super moisturizing that wouldn’t strip my color. This was suggested to me as it has chunks of conditioner in it and I will admit that the lather from this is far creamier than Copperhead. I was very dissapointed to find that this shampoo was super drying and made my hair hard to detangle in the shower (which I always do so that my hair dries in the style that I want). I was previously using a Paul Mitchell shampoo with silicone in it that makes my hair so soft and easy to comb through like butter so the fact that this bar is way more natural and lacks any silicone might be why I don’t get that immediate softness. To stick with the trend I might try out lush’s Jungle Solid Conditioner to see if that will help but as of right now I’m not impressed.

Smells like a bowel movement squashed through a drain in the shower with the hot water turned on full blast – honestly. It would not buy this again. Another smell analogy is a pooey smell that’s been left in the toilet bowl – dried, and not scrubbed off. I no like. No thank you. Nope nope noooope.

I am tired of getting caught up in beauty products conspiracy theories that malign ingredients without understanding them. It used to be that those entities claiming certain ingredients were dangerous or low quality, were marketers for competing brands. So many of the tried-and-true products we loved (i.e. Noxzema) got such a bad rap from those with competing agendas, we became “afraid” of them. Unfortunately, now that anyone and everyone has a “voice”, people continually “parrot” whatever is programmed into their susceptible psyches, without any rationale. I had been told by hair care “experts” that the sufactant in Lush shampoo bars was too “harsh” for color-treated and/or dry hair…I was supposed to stay away from a $12.00 shampoo that lasts for months, and instead pay $30.00 for a shampoo that lasts 3 weeks. For years I’ve been a “sulfate-free” or co-wash adherent, and my hair was its usual self. There was nothing magically good about sulfate-free, nor did it hurt my hair. I got bored with the limited selection of “sulfate-free” stuff, and I hate the mentholated smell of most sulfate-free cleansers. (I’m old enough to remember how wonderful it felt to use Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific and Flex. What happened to great-smelling stuff?) The incredibly beautiful scent of Godiva inspired me to look beyond propaganda and give this shampoo a try. I LOVE it! It’s amazing how much of an antidepressant a beautiful fragrance can be. I don’t even need conditioner with Godiva…and this is the ONLY shampoo I’ve ever used that I don’t need detangler/conditioner afterwards. My hair is left soft, clean, gorgeous-smelling, and thick. My husband loves the fragrance of this. I see him take huge whiffs, while half-closing his eyes, and smiling. If anything, this shampoo seems less harsh on my hair than most of the shampoos I’ve tried in the past few years. It definitely smells the best! The only downside to LUSH hair products is that it took me so long to try them! And I blame my own gullibility in light of propaganda. Some people might get contact dermatitis, etc. from some ingredients. My sister gets hives from Ivory soap, but she uses everything LUSH makes without any issues. Even EWG can’t find anything sinister to say about the properly-used ingredients in Lush Godiva shampoo.. Sure, anyone can be allergic to anything at any time, but, for the most part, as long as you don’t eat it, Godiva will likely do your hair far more good than bring any harm to it. This may fade salon and/or standard peroxide/ammonia haircoloring, but it definitely does not fade henna or strip my hair of moisture. This has a creamy, soft lather that rinses easily and it leaves my scalp feeling fresh, but not dry. I color my hair with henna and Godiva brings out the outstanding shine without stripping the red at all. People stop me in the street to compliment my hair, and I have friends copying exactly what I do, so they can have hair like mine! Never in my life has this happened before.

As much as I LOVED the smell, and was pleased with the performance of this shampoo bar, it fell apart completely after only a few uses. The chunks of conditioner fell out, and did not dissolve at the same rate as the rest of the bar. If you were able to dry it off completely after use, then put back in the tin, it may hold together. Personally, that’s a lot of extra maintenance for a product that’s already pretty expensive for what you get. I really want to love it, but I couldn’t justify buying it again.

I love the jasmine scent of Godiva. I’ve traveled with this to the Caribbean and a cruise and nothing is more awesome than using this at home and the smell brings be back to vacation mode. Well worth getting the tin too.

I love love love love love this, it smells amazing and washes the hair really well and I think that this is better than other shampoo bars because it’s 2 in 1 so it kinda softens the hair highly recommend it

I love the new shampoo bar by Lush called Godiva. It has the most fabulous jasmine scent. This is supposed to be a 2-1 bar – shampoo and conditioner. It does not seem conditioning to me so I just use it as a shampoo bar plus my regular conditioner. My hair is curly and sort of dry and it is also colored so perhaps someone with hair that is normal and not colored would find that this shampoo/conditioner would be enough. I have had great luck with all Lush shampoo bars and truthfully it doesn’t seem to matter what they say the shampoo bar is for – they all seem to work great on my hair. I especially enjoy the jasmine scent with this one – my bathroom smells great for hours after I have used this shampoo bar. Unfortunately the scent does not seem to stay in my hair. I shampoo my hair every other day, most days using a shampoo bar and once in a while I use Lush’s rehab shampoo. Lush’s shampoo bars are a real bargain at $11.95, it doesn’t take much to get a good lather and the bars last for months.
