   There were enough good ‘actives’ (Neem, Burdock, Tea Tree etc) in here to convince me to give this a try. That plus a decent amount of Salicylic Acid which is great for exfoliating and removing build-up. And my instincts didn’t prove me wrong! Similar to Briogeo Exfoliating Shampoo it has a cooling effect on my scalp when I use (although not as strong) which is perfect after a long, hot day or when you’re stressed. The shampoo actually works surprisingly fast. Results are meant to appear after a week of usage, mine were within the first 2 washes! Less itch, less dandruff and a cleaner, more refreshed scalp. There’s no SLS in here, for the most part this is very natural. The only slight criticism is my hair is left slightly tangled and lank after using this, but not a major issue for me. Especially effective when paired up with a good hair/scalp oil first for a double-whammy on scalp issues.

   I don’t have dandruff, but I do have an itchy scalp. After trialing a few other products I came across this, and decided to give it a shot! I pair it with either the Kristin Ess scalp & hair mask, or whatever random conditioner I have in the shower. It didn’t make the itchiness worse, but it didn’t help much either. Then I started using a silicone scalp brush, and it really helped! I tried the brush with a different shampoo, and didn’t get as good of results, so it’s definitely the winning combo.

   I do not know why but I have an itchy scalp after using this. My situation is worse. It is annoying. Do not like the way it is packaged either.

   UPDATE – Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate is a coconut based foaming cleanser. As per skincarisma.com it is flagged as fungal trigger. Listed as second ingredient.

   I wanted to like this but the botanicals and coconut based cleansers caused more problems for my scalp. It does clean well and smells nice (menthol) plus it has 1.8% BHA. Someone did post on the hair board a while ago that this shampoo helped his hair grow. I am assuming because it leaves the scalp clean. If you are a heavy product user, this could be a good product.

   My scalp developed a sudden new dandruff problem. I stopped using. I cleared it up with Dermarest shampoo.

   According to the website, “this shampoo calms a dandruff-prone, itchy, irritated scalp and refreshes the hair, from root to tip”. It contains salicylic acid which works to rid you of flakes and surface buildup; tea tree and menthol to help calm and cool itch and helps maintain scalp purity over time. Since using this for about a month it has really reduced the itchy dry scalp, even though I alternate this (every other wash cycle) with Maui Moisture shampoo & conditioner. This shampoo does not strip the hair of moisture either. I use it with the conditioner to get the most benefit from these products as I can. If you are wondering if your hair will smell medicinal do not worry, the scent does not linger.
