Moved from a mountain region with mildly hard water to a big city with water so hard that my hair never looked clean unless I washed it twice a week max and used lots of dry shampoo. I could tell that even with washing leas frequently that my hair was so dirty yet dry underneath all of the dry shampoo to make it “appear clean”. My hair is salon colored to be a light brunette with strong red undertones. I was afraid this was going to strip the color but I was desperate to get my hair to stop building up and looking greasy and frizzy over time. This shampoo does the trick without leaving my red hue dull and faded. My conditioners and leave-ins work so much better now. My hair is softer than ever while still maintaining a truly fresh appearance. The frizz is virtually gone from my hair. The best shampoo for the price.

I don’t have hard water, but I use this as a clarifying shampoo every 1-2 weeks. It lathers well, despite being sulfate-free, and cleans deeply without that awful “squeaky clean” effect. It works wonderfully to remove buildup and minerals. My hair is left very shiny and bouncy after use… but the best part is that I can feel all the gunk is out of my hair/scalp. If you color your hair, no worries – this is completely color-safe. I’ve had zero fading from using this product.
I’ve repurchased this shampoo a few times already. I wish I’d known about it in the past when I lived in homes with well water! Definitely worth trying if you need a shampoo that is serious about removing buildup/minerals.

I will never use another shampoo unless I move back to a place with soft water.
This is better than Malibu, vinegar rinses, ANY clarifying shampoo, or even a water softener. If you are freaking out about your hair turning orange and being somehow both dry and dirty (like I have been for months) just go to Sally’s and get this and the conditioner. It may take a couple washes to get all the minerals out, but it will work. I thought I would have to just wear my hair up as long as I live in this area but it’s completely normal again.

If you even mildly suspect that you have hard water, then put down the toner, the color correcting shampoo, hold off on buying another $30 hair mask that doesn’t work, and grab this shampoo.
I moved to a house with a well and no filtration system. Our water was so bad that inside the toilets would be stained neon orange if the water sat overnight. In no time, my ash blonde highlights were bozo orange and my brown hair had an obnoxious rusty glow. And by ‘glow’, I just mean a fuzzy red cast, because my hair had zero shine and massive frizz. It looked and felt like straw to the point that it was completely unmanageable and I thought I was going to have to do a big chop. I had no idea the effects of hard water could be so extreme.
We did get a whole house filtration system, then I did a hard water treatment on my hair. My hair felt soft again right afterward. But even with the filtration system, the build up was still happening, just at a slower rate. I could tell not only by my hair, but looking at the shower curtain liner. I started experimenting with purple shampoos. But why deposit more stuff onto your hair when you have the right color hiding under there. It’s just the mineral deposits masking it. I thought removing deposits meant that I’d have to be constantly subjecting my hair to abrasive cleansers, but this shampoo proved me wrong.
I initially didn’t think this would work because I have not had any luck with sulfate free shampoos with the well water. But after using this shampoo just two times in a row, I got my ash brown color with ash blond highlights back. My hair is silky and reflects light again. It absorbs my conditioner much better, too. I had purchased a number of hair repair products that weren’t doing a thing alongside the hard water. Now they all work great, in conjunction with this.
I actually use this every single time I shampoo, which is 2x per week. My hair is thermally reconditioned and highlighted, and the shampoo has not proved to be too stripping for me to use every wash.
It is relatively inexpensive and readily available at Sally’s.

Use weekly to combat effects of well water. Makes my hair soft and shiny!

Ahhh finally a product that does what it claims! I recently moved and now am on well water which is leaving iron residue on everything including my blonde hair. This shampoo deep cleaned, got out all the dulling hard water residue and leaves my hair bright, soft and shiny. I follow with Ion smooth treatment and super soft clean shiny hair.

This stuff is magical. Since moving, my scalp always seemed to have a buildup, and the color was always dull and it felt heavy. I contributed it at first to the horrible water pressure and thought I just wasn’t rinsing well. After several months, I grabbed this at Sally’s and decided to use this before I colored my hair.
After I towel dried, I was worried it might have made my hair dry (I used my regular One N Only Argan conditioner), but after blow drying i was really surprised. My hair felt lighter, bouncier, the ends were not as dry or frizzy. I then straightened it, and my hair had a nice shine to it, AND my color looked brighter and my roots were not as brassy. I ended up holding off on the coloring because my hair looked so good! Highly recommend even just as a clarifying shampoo to use once a week.

This product is fantastic. I was really struggling with dry ends and tried every type of deep moisture product out there! I was doing an occasional clarifying wash but I had never thought about the hard water we have being a problem until I read about it on a hair care blog. I bought this shampoo in the small bottle and tried it out. I could instantly feel a huge difference! I am using it about once a week and my ends are really feeling much nicer now! I stocked up on this (big bottles) a few weeks ago when Sallys had all hair care products BOGO free! Make sure to follow up with a good conditioner like Generics Biolage Conditioning Balm.

I STRONGLY recommend this shampoo for anyone with a well/ hard water and mineral buildup on their hair. We have a well, and no matter how much I condition or moisturize, my hair has had a problem with feeling hard/crunchy/just yucky. My hands would “drag” over my hair instead of run over it, if that make sense.
So I read about this stuff on the hair board, and I got it free at Sally’s when I renewed my membership card. Can’t beat that, right? I was prepared for it to strip my color and mess up my hair, but it didn’t. I’ve used it twice—-once four days ago, and again today—and I am sitting here with a headful of cloudlike, soft, bouncy curls, and my color wasn’t harmed. All of that mineral buildup is gone.
I use shampoo about once every four or five days, and I co-wash the rest of the time. I wouldn’t use this particular shampoo that often—-it might be too stripping. Right now I’m thinking once every two weeks. If you use it, be sure to deep condition afterward.
Thank you, hair board, for making me aware of this product!

I love this shampoo and am so happy I found it. I used to use LUSH’s hard water puck but it got expensive and I wanted to see if there was any other Vegan shampoos. At Sally’s I come across this bad boy and I saw it was vegan and it removed the impurities and mineral deposits from hard and well water. I said why not and purchased it. I’m so happy my hair feels like hair heaven. My fiances too is so soft and shiny. I use this with The Body Shops Banana conditioner the 2 together are hair simpatico!
For me I have light ash blonde hair with highlights and hard water can do a number on my colour making it dull and lifeless. This is like a revival in a bottle! It also helps remove the rust which can give hair that tinge of red/orange. I notice my hair is blonder, softer, and way more manageable and not dry at all. Plus it’s super reasonable in price and Sally’s has an awesome return policy. So if it’s not for you no worries you can return it. It smells really good too light and fresh nothing overpowering. Just nice clean hair. I am also going to get the conditioner because for me natural products just seem to work better on my hair. Also my hair is waste long, very thick, and wavy and my hair now needs less products and it styles so much easier now. I can’t say enough good things I luv this shampoo and just as good as LUSH imo. Recommended!
