I’m not one who looks for my products to serve multiple purposes. Heck, I love product! So, I used this as a shampoo, and have no plans to use it as a body wash, so my review is mostly going to cover shampoo. For a sulfate-free shampoo, this stuff lathers remarkably well. I was shocked by how much lather I got, and I didn’t need nearly as much product as I was anticipating. While the shampoo does lather up richly, it isn’t necessarily easy to work through the hair, and I found that my hair got quite tangly during shampooing. For reference, my hair is long, very thick and tends towards dry (though my scalp can get oily- so I’m working with that annoying combination). I also have color I want to preserve, and the packaging indicates that this is color-safe. I haven’t used it long enough to make a pronouncement on that. It took a little more effort than usual to rinse this out of my hair, but not enough to be annoying or to turn me away from the product. From what I can tell this shampoo is decently moisturizing. It’s creamy and opaque, rather than translucent. I was very disappointed in the scent. I was really excited about an apple and herb scent, but this stuff has hardly any scent at all. It doesn’t really smell like apples or herbs, and what scent is there isn’t very pleasant. Don’t buy this if scent in your hair products is very important to you (it is to me). On the other hand, if you’re sensitive to fragrance, this is probably a good product to try. I can’t imagine using this as a body wash due to the minimal scent. Overall, this performed better than a number of other sulfate-free shampoos I have tried, but I haven’t had the greatest luck with sulfate-free products, so that’s not a ringing endorsement. I’ll have no problem using up my tube, but I won’t likely repurchase.
