Warning: Longer story ahead, but it gives the Honeydew shampoo and conditioner effects some context:
I wanted to do something “different” with my hair for the summer and was undecided between ombre highlights, or getting a digital perm. I decided my hair was too fried for ombre highlights and would feel like trash after the bleaching process. So I decided to get the digital perm instead.
At the salon, the stylist was washing my hair and commented on how dry my hair was, and that I really needed to a weekly deep conditioning treatment on it. I definitely kept that in mind and realized if the stylist said it, my hair really must be a dried-out mess.
The digital perm looks great and since I spent so much money on it, I went looking for new shampoo and conditioner to keep it looking good. I found the Alba Honeydew shampoo and conditioner in the health food area and thought I would give them a shot.
WOW. What a difference. I was using a drugstore brand of shampoo and conditioner before. The Honeydew line really MOISTURIZES my hair; it does not “strip and then coat with slippery stuff” like the drugstore stuff I was using. I have a lot of fine hair and so finding a shampoo and conditioner that does not make my hair stick flat to my scalp is really challenging. With the Honeydew line, I don’t have a 2nd day itchy scalp, which is a huge bonus for me. My hair and scalp are loving this combo. The fragrance is great and the ingredients are mostly natural. The shampoo is slightly runnier than drugstore stuff, but I’m totally cool with that. I am so happy that Honeydew conditioner gives my hair added MOISTURE. With other conditioners, my wet hair would be slickly coated and if I were to make a wet ponytail, the ponytail would be so narrow in size. I don’t know what ingredient it is that makes hair “shrink up” like that. With the Honeydew conditioner, my thin hair retains all it’s mass and volume and the product acts as a humectant, causing water to be drawn into my hair.
Even after a few uses, my hair doesn’t feel parched and wrecked anymore. This may not be the deep conditioning treatment that the stylist was recommending, but my hair definitely needed higher quality ingredients that the Alba line uses. I will for sure continue using this combo and going to check out their other hair care products. No more drugstore stuff for this head!

Well, this is amazing. Maybe the most amazing shampoo and conditioner I have tried! I’m one of those people with lots of fine hair which tends to look dry and ‘poofy’ and I’m also one of those people who struggle to find hair products that don’t make my head itchy and my hair also get oily pretty quick too so it’s hard to find something that suits all these issues hence why I have probably tried every shampoo known to man! Before this I was using something that was okay, just basic, didn’t make me itchy, gave me a bit of volume but was more drying, after the hairdresser and my boyfriend both mentioned that my hair was looking dry I thought it was time to find something better that would make my hair shiny and hopefully not greasy which is usually tricky, so I was drawn to the Gloss Boss name of this shampoo and I’m so glad I did! I washed my hair last night and when I woke up this morning my hair was just so bouncy and thick and shiny and smooth! I am actually growing out a bad haircut where I had all this choppy horrible short layers and I might even say that this can cure a bad haircut because it just became so smooth and fell into place, I actually felt like I could wear my hair down for the first time in ages without it looking awful. It’s early days as I’ve only used it once, so fingers crossed it stays this amazing, but hair can get used to things so I might have to start alternating it with something else, but I just had to review it because the results were amazing!

I bought this because it smells nice and it’s not tested on animals. However, its cleaning power is lacking – my next-day hair looks like 4th-day hair. I even washed it twice yesterday! I will be switching back to Desert Essences Coconut shampoo.

I have tried out quite a few organic and SLS free shampoos and this one is the best I tried out so far and may possibly be HG for me! A little bit about my hair: Mostly straight, medium thickness its pretty normal but sometimes my ends can be a little dry. Anyways I have been in the process of growing my hair and my hair has been in much better condition after going sulfate free so I was in need of shampoo and read many good reviews so I purchased this one. It is a little pricier than your regular drugstore shampoo but the ingrediants are so much better and even with bra strap length hair shampoo tends to last me a good amount of time. The first thing I noticed was how good this smells, it serious smells like fruity paradise! I was pretty impressed the first few uses and after a little over a month of use im sold. My scalp tends to be very picky about what I use and if my scalp doesnt agree I will get an itchy scalp and some dandruff as well. With this shampoo I havent noticed any scalp sensitivity at all just clean shiny hair. My hair isnt left with that squeky clean drying feeling and right after using this my hair feels soft and properly cleansed. Second day hair use to be a challege for me and I would have to put my hair up to avoid it from looking like a greasy mess but ever since ive been using this shampoo second day hair isnt that bad at all and only occasionally I will have to put some baby powder in the roots but they still dont look that bad at all. The only con I can think of is it doesnt lather up as much as some other SLS free shampoos I have used but I just put some on my hands and lather it up before shampooing my hair and that seems to do the trick. I love this shampoo and it deserves two thumbs up!

I love everything about this shampoo. It’s SLS free, doesn’t strip my heavily processed hair (platinum blonde!) and smells fantastic. A very important key to shampoo is that it should be PH balanced which will close the hair shaft and keep color in better, that being said, if you use heat on your hair, you’ve ruined any effect the shampoo has. So if you like a natural shampoo and don’t blow dry/straighten your hair, this is for you.

This was $6 at vitacost so I thought I would give it a try since I like to try new products on the natural side. It’s a clear shampoo that smells strongly of peach schnapps, not so much honeydew. Contains some natural ingredients, but the scent is artificially derived (note ‘fragrance’ in the ingredient list), so be aware if you are sensitive to synthetic fragrances. It’s lathers well & rinses clean. It’s a bit drying and I need to use conditioner with it (my hair is fine, oilier at the roots & drier at the ends) or else I can’t comb my hair out. I tend to shed a bit too much hair with this shampoo, despite using conditioner. It gets a moderate hazard rating of 4 on cosmeticdatabase.com. Would probably not buy again.

This made my scalp itch and broke me out in red itchy welts all over my back & stomach :-(. I don’t know what is in it that did this. My scalp doesn’t like the sodium lauryl sulfoacetate but that only dries it out, never gave me an allergic reaction like this before…
anyway, I think this would be drying with continued use because it made my hair and scalp have that squeaky clean feeling. But it DID make my hair super shiny and bouncy the 2 days I used it! and it smells wonderful! But I wish Alba would use a different detergent like coco polyglucoside or whatever that one is, it is much more gentle!

this shampoo is pretty good.. nice for a change… smells really good, and makes hair shiny… i like to try out all different brands and types od things for my hair, and i really liked this one… doesnt let the hair feeling like a straw like some organic shampoo do…

This is a good shampoo. It lathers nicely and does rinse out clean. It left my hair soft and not to flat. I have baby fine hair so finding a shampoo that wont leave it limp is key. I would buy again but I think I want to try one that gives my hair more volume. I used this with the Alba Mango Conditioner.

This is one of the few shampoos I can use without breaking out or getting a rash on my cheeks. It doesn’t have an overpowering smell and it does its job. It is a bit pricier than most shampoos at the drugstore (about $10 where I live) so I took a star off.
