This shampoo has the most amazing scent. It’s minty and fresh, and a bit fruity, like a spa. It produces lots of lather in the shower and rinses clean. Pretty much the whole sensory experience of using it is fantastic. As far as performance, my hair is too dry to use this every day, but this is a lovely interlude that leaves my hair feeling very clean. I use it a couple of times a week. It doesn’t give my hair crazy volume, just leaves it fresh and feeling good.

Something with my scalp changed over the past few years and all the suave/vo5 products I used to use weren’t really cutting it for me anymore. I bought many bottle of the herbal essence naked shampoo/conditioner thinking it was an easy smart buy for me since I used herbal essences in the past. I don’t know if it’s due to my scalp change, but this stuff did not work for me at all! It dried out my scalp causing it to itch and flake and my scalp made a ton of oil. I used the shampoo for many months (because I’m cheap) and because I blamed my body and thought it couldn’t be helped.
Recently I stopped using this brand and my scalp is just fine and my hair looks way better. This might work for some people, but for me it belongs in the bin.

Usually every shampoo out there makes my scalp very greasy and my hair gets dirty quicker. Not with this shampoo. My hair lasts a lot longer clean, and although it leaves my hair squeaky clean, anything I put on my hair after that will be absorbed quickly and efficiently… which is strange because with other shampoos the conditioner will just sit there and my hair will be dry in the end. The scent is awesome and I will never get tired of it.
For some reason this shampoo is labeled for shine (NOT VOLUME) in my country, and it is exactly what it does for me.. leaves my hair shiny not voluminous… so if you want volume I am not sure this is your option. I think that if you need a good clarifying shampoo this will be it, just make sure to form a good lather and you can use any conditioner you like, your hair will drink it up.
HERBAL ESSENCES DON’T DISCONTINUE THIS SHAMPOO! PLEASE! AT MOST JUST CHANGE THE LABEL! I will forever keep buying it.

I like how this is a “volumizing shampoo”, but it made my hair frizzy and course. It smells really really good and it sometimes makes my hair soft, but most of the time when I use this, my medium long hair is a puffy and frizzy mess that easily becomes kinky in humidity. I love the herbal essenses purple swirl hydralicious shampoo because it is moisturizing, so I may have to go back to that after this experience :/

This smells nothing like grapefruit and very little like mint. To me it smells like mango or something like that. (Where is the truth is advertising? I know I’m a dreamer) Cleans ok but I don’t get a lot of volume. To me it’s just ok and I won’t rebuy. It doesn’t hold a candle to my high end Pureology volume shampoo but it’s cheap! AND it stripped my color. To the trash it goes.

First of all, I’d like to say that I LOVE the smell of this shampoo. I bought it ’cause it was cheap, I got it for 2-3 bucks at Target. It cleans okay, I did not give more volume to my hair. The big downside to this products is that it broke me out like crazy. I have a pretty sensitive skin but I do not suffer from acne of any kind, my face is clear. Since I started using this shampoo, my forehead looks like a mess! It’s full of tiny bumps and I also broke out on my hairline.

EDIT: This ended up being far too drying for my scalp. The itching I’d get within hours, and for the 2 days until I washed my hair again was NOT worth it. I have found a much better, natural, unscented shampoo (Curelle Hydra) that does not exacerbate hair fall (which was the ONLY reason I was using this in the end any ways!) or make me itch.
This shampoo is definitely drying. HOWEVER it has made a HUGE difference in how much hair I lose in the shower! We’re talking handfuls down to maybe 10-15 hairs. I follow this up with a super nourishing natural conditioner (Andalou Naturals.), and often pre-oil my hair before washing. I am not a huge fan of the scent- citrusy mint while lathering, then dries down to an almost cloying sweet fragrance… So, if you’re having trouble with hair fall MAYBE this will help a bit? At $5CDN (mine was $2.50 on sale) why not? Will keep using unless something changes.

I tried this as it was only £2 for the shampoo and conditioner, I wasn’t expecting much because of the price but I was pleasantly surprised.
The packaging looks a bit plain compared to other herbal essences’ packaging but I was still willing to try it, I usually use herbal essences either the deeply nourishing or Moroccan shine.
I love the smell I hate it when you wash your hair and as soon as you dry it it looses the smell this doesn’t happen I can still smell it after drying.
When actually applying the shampoo it lathers really well.
It has left my hair smelling nice, my hair feels very clean and looks shining. My hair usually gets weighed down by conditioners but this hasn’t happened using this. My hair was also super easy to brush after (this is a rarity my boyfriend refers to my hair as the bird nest!!)
For the price I would defiantly buy again.

I’m surprised by all the poor reviews here. I style my hair a LOT from curly to straight so I try and keep washing it to a minimum and get maybe 3 – 4 days out of a wash to keep natural oils in etc. I can only compare this to bastiste as I haven’t used any others. Anyway my hair is dark brown and with bastiste I found a very white residue left over on my hair after the product, as in I looked grey haired! was extremely disappointed as the concept was great. So when I saw this Herbal Essences dry shampoo for the small sum of two euro about a year later I decided to give it another go. I would recommend this highly, its really cheap and lasts ages and whats more is it doesn’t leave that awful white residue on your hair! the smell isn’t wonderful but its at least a fresh smell and isn’t overpowering… really perks up the hair. well worth the money.

This is a great smelling shampoo, lathers well and feels nice! I have this, KMS and AG in my shower to alternate. Can we please be honest though – regardless of the shampoo or conditioner claims, it only does either one of two things, moisturize or cleanse. No ones ever bought a product that made their hair look like JLo. Volumize, damage repair, split end repair – it’s all marketing and none of it’s ever worked. What works is: cutting down on over processing by styling/dying, adding a good leave-in after the shower, and cutting off damaged hair when necessary.
