I’ve been using this shampoo for the last few months.
NOTE: Below is my earlier review. I stopped using this after about three or so bottles and passed mine on. It is just too drying for the scalp. It promises no buildup but I could definitely feel it. I tried an unscented shampoo by Akin as well, but it was similarly drying. The only SLS-free shampoo I can rely on is by Nashi, but it’s expensive and must be followed by conditioner.
It is the best SLS free shampoo I’ve tried (barring a pure keratin one which was incredibly expensive. I get it for $10 at Mecca Cosmetica, for a large tube which lasts, even though I am an excessive squeezer and like lots of lather.
The packaging is cute, easy to use and the smell is fresh and fruity. Not too overpowering, I find that it lingers a little in the hair before gradually fading.
Most reviews have said that it’s drying. I agree. But this seems to be the case for shampoos without SLS, having used a few (ranging from the aforementioned expensive brand to Aldi’s), and whatever they put in it place of certain sulfates must have that effect.
But it’s worth the trade off: we’re used to loading our hair up with SLS which is literally a detergent product to fill up the bottle. It’s actually more drying to the hair than anything you’ll find in Glad Hair Day!
The bottle also has a no buildup promise and I know that’s true – I’ve been using it for months and my scalp feels cleaner.
Believe me: I have long, thick and curly hair – it’s difficult to tame at the best of times, and a few shampoos with Glad Hair Day leaves it feeling clean and smelling fresh. Conditioner after is essential when using this if you have long hair like mine, to add a bit of moisture.
But all in all, it’s an almost perfect product: cleans well, no buildup, cheap, lasts a while, funky packaging which leaves your hair smelling nice. It has a gel-like consistency which gives you a fair lather – I don’t know why people are so concerned with how well a shampoo lathers. You’re just used to the foam! You may as well wash your hair with dish detergent when you’re getting a sulfate lather with your usual shampoos.
I definitely feel the difference if I ever make the mistake of shampooing with a “normal” shampoo – it feels disgusting and drying and I have to go back to Glad Hair Day.
Not many cons here at all: it’s a little drying, but that’s what conditioner is for. I’m very very pleased to have found such a great product with great value. I won’t be changing shampoos any time soon.

Love this shampoo, I’m now on my third bottle. First of all, it smells absolutely amazing. I have pretty greasy hair and I find it does a really good job of moisture-balancing my hair – not too dry, not too oily. My hair is always shiny, soft, and voluminous after using this. Although it only comes in a 250ml bottle I get the impression that the shampoo is more concentrated than most as I can generally get away with using less than I do with other shampoos. I also really like the design in the standup squeezy bottle which makes it easy to get to the last bit of shampoo. It is a tad pricey for how much you get, especially since I have to get it online since I can’t find it anywhere here in Canada, even places that sell Soap and Glory products. But if you can get it at Boots in the UK it is quite reasonable.

This shampoo did well. I smells great, feels great while lathering and is easy to wash. It makes my showering that much more fun. It is a very light gel like consistency with a nice fruity/candy/citrus fragrance. It did not cause any build up at all on my hair and still after a couple of days, my hair feels very clean! Would recommend this to anyone with normal hair!

Whilst I would use the travel size of this again, for convenience, I found it made my blond hair slightly heavier and darker than my regular shampoo. It’s strange how some products have that effect, and my hair can range from being light to dark blond as a result.
My hair looks fine, using this – totally manageable – just lacks that spruce and brightness.

For me, this is the one of the best shampoo’s i tried. It makes my fine hair clean, bouncy , shiny and very soft. Besides that, the smell is simply amazing. I have highlighted hair and this brightens the colour without stripping it, and the quality of my hair has improved after one week use. Make sure you buy the conditioner too – you will not regret it. For course and thick hair, i am unsure if this would be a good product , but for me it works beautifully.I will repurchase.

This is the WORST shampoo I’ve ever used in my entire life.
I have normal straight hair and I live in an Asian country which is quite humid, hence I shampoo and condition my hair daily. I have never done any chemical treatment (including dyeing, perming, rebonding…) to my hair and I would say its quite healthy.
I read the few reviews here on MUA and decided it was worth a try. It comes in a gel form, smells great and looks oh so promising, until I actually used it. After the first wash, my hair felt extremely dry. I thought I’d give it another shot and used it for 2 more days, now my hair feels like straw 🙁 even after the conditioning! A total waste of money. I will stick to Asian brands which are considerably cheaper and so much more suited for Asian hair.

What first attracted me to this was the smell. It smells yummy – fruity and sweet which is what I love! I will admit it was an impulse buy and after coming home with the product and never hearing about Soap and Glory before i didnt have high expectations at all (other than it smelt good). After a week of using it, my hair looks great and smells fantastic! I have relatively healthy hair in general but i have noticed it has a bit more shine than normal.

It smells super, super nice and leaves my hair smelling nice for days afterwards. The product DOES detangle knots in your hair but you have to use a ridiculous amount of product (think about 1/5 of the entire bottle) which to be honest, isn’t worth it as its £5-£6 making it £1 a wash and you buy other conditioners for half the price and quadruple the uses. I’d give it a mess and spend your money on something else

Lovely packaging but that is where the pros end. Glad Hair Day is frankly a terrible product range. The shampoo strips hair and leaves it feeling very dry and tangled. The conditioner is not conditioning at all and after use I needed a leave in conditioner to detangle my hair and leave it soft. Considering I have fine hair and rarely need much conditioner that is saying something. I love Soap & Glory but this was a huge disappointment from them. I would rather get a cheaper drugstore brand that performs far better like Garnier or Tresseme.

Sad Hair Day.
I wouldn’t recommend this for long fine/flyaway hair,it really doesn’t detangle at all,it would need to be a lot richer for me as I still had tangled hair after using it,in fact worse. My hair was in matted in thick clumps at the back like sheeps wool, even my Mason Pearson couldn’t cope with it!
However it would be maybe be fine for someone with normal/short hair that just needed a basic conditioner to add softness and shine with no build up.
Cute pink retro packaging, scent is a bit like bubblegum!
Not tested on animals.

I love soap and glory but this conditioner is really, really horrible. I have super long thick hair and if you don’t use enough you get horrible knotty tangled hair. If you use too much it just coats my hair with a greasy layer leaving my ends a complete mess. I had to wash it out straight away. It may be okay for someone with less thick hair but for me I will never use it again

This shampoo smells great, like raspberry jam, and lathers up beautifully but I find it leaves my hair feeling drier than other shampoos. It works ok with my dry scalp and I like the squeezy tube but I won’t buy it again.

I got this shampoo from Soap & Glory’s Christmas 2010 Pink Big Set in the UK. To be honest, I had low expectations from this product because it looked frilly. I must say Glad Hair Day proved me wrong, and I have never been happier to be. This clear pinkish shampoo smells of raspberry and vinegar and is seriously addictive. It makes my hair genuinely shine when it dries. I believe its no-buildup formula claim because I do not feel any heaviness/stickiness on my sensitive, oily scalp after use. This did not break out my temples, as some shampoos with strong scents and chemicals do. I must say Soap & Glory may be one of those brands that actually deliver what they advertise on their bottles. It cleans my hair really well too. I think I am extremely appreciative of this product because it was able to combine fantastic packaging and amazing formula with an unbeatable price!
