   This is my 4th shampoo I’d tried from the Briogeo range for my very fine wavy/curly long hair. Yes it is volumizing but it isn’t worth it for the condition it leaves my hair in. Overdries and irritates my scalp. Makes my hair feel dry and rough with tangly ends. Makes the scalp oilier and dirtier. I have to wash my hair every 2 days versus my usual 3 – 4 days. Scent is a mix of artificial sweet orange soda, oven cleaner, and a weird waxy smell. I’d rather use any one of their other shampoos and just use volume-creating styling products.

   I received a sample and was prepared for my hair to become matted, dry and tangled so imagine my surprise when the opposite occurred. My hair become moisturized, silky and shiny. I’ve purchased the full size version now and have used it only a few times and I see hair growth in the areas of my hair where I got cortisone injections which ended up making my hair fall out from the root in those areas and never growing back in those areas. Well I looked in the mirror last night and sure enough I have hair growth coming back in those areas. I am sold and have found my new love. Now I do feel a little itchy in my scalp but it’s totally worth it and it shows me it’s working. I shampoo with it every 3 days. Once summer comes I will use it every two days.

   The Briogeo Volumizing Shampoo with an absurdly long title is your standard volumizing shampoo with a few quirks. I’ve been using it for about a month and some change at this point and that’s what this review will be based on.

   The Sephora website describes the product as, “A volumizing shampoo fortified with follicle stimulating ginger, ginseng, and biotin to provide immediate visible fullness and long-term hair growth benefits.”

   This is how it works based on my experience:

   The shampoo smells nice. If you’re sensitive to scent, it doesn’t linger all day or anything like that, but it’s a very pleasant smell at first that dissipates quickly. It’s your typical shampoo in terms of texture; it’s gel-like with a clear-to-yellow appearance.

   In the short-term, I don’t find that it weighs my hair down and immediately, it does look really great and gives it a healthy shine. It does add some nice volume, but I find that it doesn’t last on its own. About halfway through the day, I notice the volume in my hair has deflated (though, it still looks shiny and well groomed.) I don’t feel like it made my hair drier as some volumizing shampoos tend to do.

   If you are someone who does not like to wash your hair every day, beware. About 3/4 of the day being through, it starts to look slightly greasy and the next day, you’ll either need to wash it again or hit it with some dry shampoo. I was able to go three days between washing or using dry shampoo with the Bumble and Bumble Thickening Shampoo–this one, not so much. I will also say that as someone who prefers dry shampoos, this also does a really nice job of getting build-up out of your hair too.

   In the long-term, I don’t know that I really saw the “benefits” this shampoo is talking about. If it means that it helps my hair to grow–I don’t know that I saw that much growth differently than normal (at least, in the span of a little over a month and a few weeks). Maybe it’s something you have to use over a longer period of time for that benefit. Because of my time of using it, I don’t really hold that against this because it was my decision.

   If you’re OK with washing your hair every day, I think this would be a great, safe option. However, for someone who prefers to do it every few days, this is something I would be wary about or at least, be prepared to go through several bottles of dry shampoo more regularly.

   Pros:

   – Hair does feel volumized after washing
   – Vegan, cruelty-free, and gluten-free (per Sephora website)
   – Safe for coloring, keratin-treated, and relaxed hair (per Sephora website)
   – Sulfate-free
   – Makes hair shiny
   – Smells nice (and smell does not linger)
   – Allegedly helps to stimulate follicle growth
   – Good at removing build-up

   Cons:

   – Volumizing does not last throughout day
   – Hair becomes greasy 3/4 through day
   – Better used for people who wash hair daily
