I always had very long and healthy hair. A year ago the condition of my hair became really bad. It was very dry. I tried different products (e.g. Moroccanoil) and regular hair cuts. Nothing helped. My hair stylist advised me to switch to Kerastase products. I don’t remember what was the first Kerastase shampoo I tried but it was pretty bad. It even worsen my hair!
Then I switched to this one (although I don’t have an itchy scalp). I use it with Kerastase Chronologiste mask. My hair has visibly improved (more shiny, more silky and healthy looking ends)! I am really happy with this product.

This is my favorite product from Kerastase. Even though my scalp isn’t itchy or dry I use it, leaves my hair feeling renewed and my scalp feels like it breathes. Hope they don’t discontinue this one. Love love love!!

As the two previous reviews have said, this is an excellent shampoo for a dry, itchy scalp. I purchased this shampoo this past winter when the itching became so severe that I couldn’t stop scratching my scalp – I have the kind of dry skin that wakes me up in the middle of the night to scratch. This shampoo is gentle and moisturizing, more so than any other formula I’ve tried, even those geared towards itchy scalps and dandruff. I’ve tried to go a few days between washings, but that makes the itching worse, so now I shampoo every night and I’m no longer tempted to scratch my scalp open. This shampoo was about $40 CDN, which is really pushing the upper limits of my budget (I cut back on other things), but if it keeps me from going crazy, I’ll gladly repurchase. I find myself needing it a little less in the summer, but will certainly keep it up once the humidity drops again.

I definetly recomend this product! During last winter, my scalp condition got really, really bad. My scalp is dry, itchy and flaky. This shampoo has really helped me. The itchyness is practically gone and the flaking has deminished. I’ve even been able to use another shampoo inbetween! Tip: It doesn’t say on the bottle, but wash hair once like you normally do, then rinse. Reapply and lather shampoo, and let it sit for 5 minutes rinse and follow with a deep-moisturising hairmasque. Your hair and scalpe will be like new!

Let me start with my recent hair condition in order to review this right. In September I experienced the worst flakes and itchiness than ever before. The reason for my scalp issues could’ve been some chemical in L’Oreal Professional hair range that I was using at the time, maybe frequent usage of Revlon hairspray, but I suspect that the reason was my body’s reaction to work-related stress and weather changes. Nothing was helping, not even olive oil treatments, and even the most sensitive shampoos did more bad than good after washing my hair. As I didn’t have the time to go see a derm (too much work at the time), I purchased Kerastase Biotic shampoo. It really changed my perspective on shampoos, as I usually refuse to spend too much on hair & skincare (make-up not included lol). Also, Kerastase SA recommended Biotic for dry hair, which was a shock for me, as I am a girl with loads of fine, wavy hair, and I always used shampoos for volume or color. I always wanted more volume. But as my scalp problems were unbearable I took her advice and got Biotic for dry hair. First couple of washes, the situation didn’t dramatically improve, but I was persistant, as my scalp felt comfortable and hair got shiny. By the time I finished the bottle, the flakes were gone and my hair felt hydrated and comfortable. The frizz and tangles were also gone, but not on the expense of volume and waviness of my hair.
So I went back for more to Kerastase, and they explained that one should only use Biotic every now and then, and then recommended Dermo-Calm shampoo for dry hair (amazing how I went from believeing my hair was normal/slightly greasy to dry). SA explained to me that depending on your hair or scalp needs, it is always better to use a right treatment for your scalp (esp. if you experience problems with it), and then treat your hair with serums, creams or sprays for the hair itself (meaning, use a scalp shampoo, and then spray a conditioner for colored hair). In any case, I would recommend this to everyone with similar scalp problem as mine, and strongly advise an expert opinion, as many people seem to use wrong products for their hair condition. If you had problems like me, this might be the answer. Thanks for reading.
