I have an oily scalp and wash my hair every other day (sometimes every day) and I really enjoyed Big. I have long, straight, uncoloured hair that can fall a little flat. Big gives me a super clean feeling but doesn’t dry out my hair. I always follow up with conditioner on my ends however and would recommend all do this (I use Lush’s American Cream). I simply take a small amount and lather it between my hands, then apply the lather to my hair. The salt chunks gives my scalp a mild scrub but does not get tangled in my hair. They wash out easily. A little goes a long way with this product, so the tub will last a very long time. As it gives the hair such a clean feeling, I feel like it may dry out dry hair and also know this product is not recommended for coloured hair. I found it gave me some additional volume, and my hair definitely wasn’t flat after use, but my hair was no way ‘Big’. I really enjoy the scent of this shampoo, to me it smells just like a Lush store! It has a fresh, floral-citrus scent and to me it smells like Neroli but the scent doesn’t linger in my hair. Overall, it leaves my hair feeling clean, looking shiny and healthy and with a little more volume than usual. I would definitely recommend this product and would repurchase.

I don’t know if I see any pros in this shampoo.
The fragrance is a personal preference (I hate it), it smells way too strong and unpleasant in my opinion.
It’s very harsh, like a deep cleansing shampoo, and very drying. I hate the grainy salt texture of it.
It gives me wire-like hair without adding any volume.
Terrible! But I think people with oily hair and scalp may actually love it.

One of LUSH’s best products, which I’ve purchased many times over the years. Although there are other clarifying shampoos on the market, this one is unique in the sensory experience that it offers: scooping and massaging salt into your hair while the gorgeous, unique fragrance surrounds you. It is quite stripping so I only use this once a week, and I would avoid if your hair is coloured. Other than that it’s one to try!

I have long straight hair that is fine and gets limp within a day of washing due to my oily scalp. I have tried BIG, Seanik, and Jersey Bounce. I will admit that BIG gives me the most volume out of all 3. Seanik was the worst of them all as it didn’t give me any volume at all. I really like BIG for this purpose and yes it gives alot of shine too which is awesome! I also love the smell as it smells of being on a beach! The only downside is I cannot use this as my sole shampoo because 1) it can potentially dry out my hair, and 2) whenever I use this shampoo I noticed more hair fallout whilst in the shower. For these 2 real important reasons I use this on special occasions or at least once a week. I prefer Jersey Bounce for frequent use even though I wish it provided more volume like BIG. Regardless I’d repurchase BIG!

I’m a bit disappointed in this shampoo, even though I do like it. It doesn’t give my hair any volume, and my hair is very flat, fine and long, but I did expect to see at least a bit because of the all great reviews. BUT it does make my roots very soft, which is quite weird as it feels drying when you rinse it out. I would give it a 4,5 lippies as a product, but I’m only giving it 3 because it does not do what it claimed to do. I love the smell.

Was gift shopping for daughter in law when i found this. Love it. I’m 63 with thinning hair, so you wouldn’t think it would work well, but the it does. I have near constant hot flashes, with drenched hair, and whew boy, summer is not even here yet. This both helps clean out scalp and it a mood lifter. Hair seems to stay cleaner, longer and it less limp.

nice to have around & made my fine hair look awesome but i just can’t tolerate the scent. its like washing your hair with Gain detergent.

My hair is quite fine but I have a lot of it. Sad to say that this conditioner doesn’t do anything for my hair. In fact, it makes it look very clumpy, thick and greasy… I’m a massive fan of Lush products and especially their shampoo bars, but they didn’t do a good job with this conditioner. The only positive point about it – it smells divine, so I started using it as deodorant and it works well for me 🙂
mereCheetah1
Nope. It smells OK and has promising ingredients but it’s too waxy to melt in to hair nicely even with really hot shower water and I have to use so much of it, like a solid palm sized chunk to distribute it over my shoulder blade length hair. Using too little leaves my hair stringy but entering more weighs it down. It’s moisturising to an extent and does not strip color rapidly, but doesn’t leave a healthy shine either. I’ve experimented with using it different ways with little success, but honestly for the price and the amount I go through its not worth it.

Wow, so far all the LUSH products I have chosen has been excellent to me. From the shampoo bars and Retread to soap bar. After trying and being impressed by Retread, I thought I would try out their solid conditioners to go with my shampoo bar as I am going on a trip soon, and this would save me the space in the suitcase because I find most hotel shampoo and conditioners quite atrocious. So my sights fell on BIG and Jungle, and after sniffing both of them, I went for BIG. Application was a bit tricky, it looks like a block of butter but rubbing it along the length of my hair and then run a detangling brush through it to spread out the product. That worked quite well, and there is a noticeable slight slip to my hair after washing it out. It leaves my hair a little waxy and weird as it dries, because of the wax they needed to put in this to make it into a solid form. The feeling goes away after a while. It just leaves my hair feeling soft, look shiny, straighten easily, and smell fabulous! Most of all, my hair used to get frizzy when it’s humid and look like I never straightened at all, but not any more! It actually stays straight now, I am pleasantly surprised! Although it’s not a cheap for a block of this stuff, but despite having thick hair, I am going through it at a very slow rate, so I guess it’s totally worth it.Will definitely repurchase when I run out.
6/11/2014 Edit: Still love it! I thought I’ll come back and add that it is more effective if you towel dry your hair for a bit before you apply this conditioner. I used the Retread conditioner before this, leave it in for 20 mins, wash, towel dry, and then rub this solid conditioner over the end of my hair, leave in, and wash. I have found this way it completely covers the Retread scent for I am not particularly fond of it, and it doesn’t feel waxy afterwards, and my hair feel better than ever! I have also tried to melt it down into a paste, uses up a bit more of the product, but the scent lingers more than ever, and it makes my hair feel so soft, I tied it back for a few hours and let it down before bed, it left no kink! Just… wow!

I have only used this product once, but I already like it. Although application was quite difficult, it made my hair feel quite soft and healthy. But I have naturally oily hair and I made the mistake of applying this to my roots not realizing how moisturizing it would be in the end lol so it kind of made my hair look greasy. But next time I will just apply to the ends of my hair. When I used it I tried to break off pieces and lather them up but it doesn’t lather very well at all. So next time I will try to run the whole bar over my hair and see how that works. It was quite pricey because I don’t feel like the chunk that I got will last me that long, but i feel like it’s worth it. I might try some of their other conditioners before I come back to this one but overall I liked it a lot. It smells very fresh and creamy and the scent has lasted on my hair all day so far. I used it along with Lush’s juniper scented shampoo bar.

it’s a lovely conditioner. not like other silly conditioner that make ur hair limp and lifeless. my trick to use it that before I shower. I place it in some water. to melt away and later use it. smell. I’d terrible. but I’d prefer. a more liquid form. overall.greatest.

I’ll preface this by saying that I have fine hair, but a decent amount of it (my hair still isn’t thick, though!), with dry/processed ends. I bought this primarily because of the smell (it has the same scent as Lush’s Vanillary perfume) but also because I’ve had decent luck with Lush conditioners in the past, including the other solid conditioner, Jungle.
Honestly, I don’t know how Lush can label this as a “conditioner.” I prefer to use a lighter conditioner on my roots, so I only used this on my scalp, and not even on my very dry ends. Trying to swipe the bar over my wet hair did absolutely nothing, so I broke off a small piece and mashed it up in my hands. That didn’t work especially well either, but it worked well enough that I was able to spread the product through my hair. As soon as I rinsed it though, my normally soft hair felt very rough and stiff, and had about twice as many knots as it normally does. It was a struggle to get a comb through it.
I let my hair air dry (as I normally do) and at first my roots were very fluffy and frizzy, but within a few hours my hair was lank and flat, but still tangled very easily. And the next day I woke up with a greasy mess that not even dry shampoo could save. I usually wash my hair every two to three days, but I absolutely had to wash it the day after using this conditioner.
Not impressed, and I’m honestly too nervous to try it out a second time.

This is by far the very worst “conditioner” I ever used.
As I’m a big fan of the scent of BIG shampoo I thought the conditioner would be a good investment – the shampoo does my hair no good at all, unfortunately…
And as I’m one lucky girl who has a room mate working for LUSH – yes, I am actually boasting at the moment 😀 – I could try it without paying even one cent, cause every cent would have been too much.
The conditioner promises to be moisturizing but also giving body to the hair. Well, let’s see what really happened….
As it’s a solid conditioner I first stroked it over my hair (like I used to do with LUSH’s other solid conditioner, Jungle) and tried to comb it in. NO effing WAY! Instead of hair I had metted wisps dangling down my head. Okay, I thought I’d give it another try and broke off a bit of the solid bar, mixed it with enough water to get a creamy texture and gently worked it into that mess that used to be my hair. After a lot of swearing, hours of brushing and rinsing it out my hair still felt like straw.
Then I blow-dried the straw hoping that I won’t have to wash it again cause meanwhile I was exasperated. The effect was massy fluffy (but dull) hair that smelled great (that’s to it’s credits…), but ooooh, at what price?
If you have the brass neck to go through this unnerving procedure you can enjoy the great scent of freshly washed clothes (at least that’s how BIG smells to me…) and big hair. But I can’t recommend it with a clear conscience though.

I LOVE this mascara!! It really lives up to its claims. No need for falsies, just 2 coats of this beauty. It doesn’t clump and dries really quick. Also a breeze to remove. Didn’t have very high expectations of Avon but this definately surprised me.
wingedOryx1
oo i love this mascara. Packing, texture and everything is good. I have small lashes, and i cant find really good mascara. I never use false lashes, but when i discovered this i was so exticed about it. because when i put my mascara on it seems like i have false lashes..i think that i will buying this forever.

I love this mascara. I don’t buy Avon cosmetics as I prefer to see them rather than pick from a catalog. But I’m a mascara junkie and for 6.99 there’s nothing to lose. Delighted to find it’s everything I want: volumizing with no clumping and it’s a really black mascara, probably the blackest I own (of a few dozen). My biggest problem with finding a great one is that they virtually all smudge underneath. Remarkably this doesn’t! I sometimes put a top coat of the L’Oreal tubing mascara just in case, but it really isn’t necessary and the Beautytubes tend to clump. This is better than Chanel imho. Will absolutely repurchase. I get absurdly excited about applying this lol.

Love this mascara from Avon and was pleasantly surprised to say the least, as this mascara , in my experience does exactly what it claims to do in terms of lengthening, volumizing and imparting a thicker look to lashes ; goes on smoothly and stays on the whole day; does not flake or crust. I happen to like this better than Avon Winged Out mascara although also very good but Big & False is fabulous…Works better for me than Lancome and Maybelline. Best mascara ever, IME. Packaging is great ; price as well. Quality is outstanding. Will r/ p.

I have long straight hair that could use a little more volume and oompf, this can achieve that but because it’s a bit drying I use a conditioner or hairmask afterwards and that takes away the effect. I liked to use it as a clarifying shampoo once in a while and I love the scent, beachy and fresh with a hint of vanilla!

Background:
I have naturally medium hair, but a lot of it! My hair is superthick, and long. It’s also wavy and frizzes like crazy; the only way I can wear it is blow-dried: I have tried to pull off the wavy look, but it doesn’t work with me, and ends up frizzing like crazy. Because of the thickness, I have what you call: combination hair (scalp gets oily after a day or two, but ends remain dry). For the record: I wash my hair every 4 days because of my dry ends, and I use dry shampoo in between washes.
I usually use drugstore shampoos, such as Pantene, Dove, etc. I’ve tried everything, and the problem is that after washing my hair twice, I always feel my hair isn’t clean enough.
Because my hair is so thick and heavy, I feel like it falls flat quickly, and frizzes at the ends.
Enter this shampoo:
This shampoo cleans. When I say cleans, I mean SQUEAKY CLEAN. I love that. The smell is phenomenal, and it lathers very nicely. I really like that it has salt in it, because in a way, I feel like I’m sorta getting a good scrub, if that makes any sense! I was hoping this shampoo would give me volume, but sadly it didn’t do much. It did give me insane shine, though.
The way you use this is like any shampoo, except instead of a squeeze bottle, you have to scoop the shampoo out of the tub it comes in. The texture is quite gritty, because of the salt, and it is a hassle to distribute, but once it’s on your hair you just add water and it foams up. I find that sometimes I don’t have to double wash my hair with this.
Pros:
-Smells incredible
-Lathers nicely, and quickly
-Leaves your hair squeaky clean
-Natural ingredients
-Leaves hair super shiny
Cons:
-Expensive (as are most of Lush products, but a little bit goes a long way!)
-Can be drying; I don’t advise that anyone use this on a daily basis. I use it twice a week and it worked out fine for me.
-Didn’t really add any volume to my hair
-Packaging can be annoying. It comes in a tub packaging, and you have to scoop it out with your hands, which means some water can get in. It’s also a bit of a hassle to distribute on hair.
Would I repurchase? I don’t know. For now, I’m experimenting with Kerastase. After that, maybe Aveda? I like to switch around my shampoos. Maybe in the future, for a change, I may pick up some Big.

A very nice clarifying shampoo. Leaves my hair squeaky clean and refresh. I like the idea of using natural salt. I used it only twice a week and I make sure to use a deep conditioner for my ends because I have oily scalp and dry ends. The smell is nice but I would prefer it more florally or citrusy. The packaging is unhygienic so you need a plastic or a wooden spoon to scoop out the product out of the container.

Another LUSH product that I do not enjoy which is really rare for me…
The smell isn’t awful, but it certainly is not what I typically like for my hair to smell like. Also, it make my hair a dry, tangled mess. I could not seem to brush it for the life of me! I could not seem to mash this up all the way nor get it through my hair evenly. I just kind of had chunks of it scattered throughout my hair because it just was not as easy as I imagined to get it into a nice lather. My last complaint is that I bought this for the volume that supposedly it was going to give my hair, but I didn’t see any volume!
I will not buy this again. I gave this a fair shot, but this product just is not for me. Especially for the 16 USD I spent on it, I could have went out and got a decent conditioner that would actually give me volume and not make my hair into an impossible to comb mess.

i denfinitly love suuuper love this product. its totally different from anything i have ever tried before. i got a 10 dlls bar and what i did its cut like 5 pieces and kept the other 4 in its original paper. i only have one piece in my bath and i rub it trough my hair put my hair in a knot and wait till i have finished wasing my body. then i rinse it and im soooo happy with the results, my hair is super shiny and healthy!! i used to use kerastase conditioner but.. not anymoreeeee!

I bought a $6 piece of this conditioner as my first solid hair product, and when the SA showed me in store how it lathered it seemed like it would be ok. When I got into the shower and tried to lather it in my hands, it lathered, however when I tried to run it through the ends of my hair it was just a disastrous tangled mess that I couldn’t do anything about. I gave it so many tries with different shampoos – BIG, Daddy-o, I Love Juicy – because I thought maybe one was just too drying, and I didn’t use enough of the conditioner that day… but I got the same result each time! I put a wide tooth comb in the shower so I could try gently combing through it and that didn’t help either.
I just don’t think this spreads well enough no matter what you do. I use American Cream and Veganese and they are much better.
