I love this shampoo! I used to use the Redken High Rise volume which is not a bad shampoo, but the smell is a little chemical. I find Beach Envy provides as much volume for my hair as High Rise, but smells delicious. It’s almost kind of a salty smell! The scent reminds me of Bumble and Bumble surf shampoo/spray. I can’t speak for the beachy waves as I usually blow dry and straighten my hair because it’s easy for me, but this gives it lots of volume and softness. The volume it provides is also very loose and flowy. One downside to the High Rise Volume is it felt almost like a hair gel or spray. After washing and styling and using no other products, I felt like had lots of product in my hair, and if I washed my hair at night and slept wrong, my hair would mold to this weird high-volume style and stay that way. This is definitely preferable — has a lot less “hold” but still gives my hair a lot of bounce and manageability.

i actually really like this product line. My hair was so soft after using it. It had s lot of body!! It also had some extra texture!! My hair is usually pretty fine and straight so this is a great set of products for me to have!

I used to use sulfate-free shampoo most of the time, but, frankly, it’s hard to resist fun shampoos like Beach Envy. Sulfate-free shampoos are nothing if not boring. Beach Envy smells amazing! Recently I had to travel to upstate New York (in November) and the sun didn’t peek out from behind the clouds the whole week. (And it was really freaking cold). Having lived most of my life in Orange County, and being with people from SoCal, my whole group suffered from sunshine withdrawl.
So I bought Beach Envy shampoo and conditioner and they truly helped me get through the week with hope. My hair was full of body, and it smelled marvelous. I didn’t like the Beach Envy Conditioner (it’s like rinse-out hair gel), so, upon return I’ve purchased Redken High Rise, which smells fantastic as well, and works nicely with Beach Envy shampoo.

I bough this shampoo, because I loved the light blue transparent packaging and the smell of the shampoo (which is really fresh and kinda summery). I notice that when I use this shampoo my hair isn’t static anymore, and isn’t squeaky clean like with other shampoos (it’s just clean). It also give my hair lots of shine, and brings out my highlights. I didn’t really notice any beachy waves, but I tend to blow dry may hair, so maybe that’s why. Don’t expect a lot of volume, but my hair is more manageable after using this shampoo. It feels like their is some sort of layer on my hair, but not the bad layer that some shampoos give you. It’s more like a beach layer, without the crunchy feeling. I feel that it really sort of protects my hair and makes it look nice. Overall I like this shampoo and would probably buy it again.
I’ve tried many Redken shampoos, and I always tend to buy the extreme and blonde idol shampoo, and now I have a third one I love.
I’ve also tried the high rise volume shampoo (which also has a bright blue colour), but didn’t really like it (way too rich for my hair).

Why did Redken have to go and change their formula? I LOVE their old voluminous BodyFull line. I tried the Redken High Rise Lifting shampoo and conditioner. I hated this new product. So I decided to try the beach envy shampoo and conditioner. It is barely better. The smell is better, but it does not lift my hair. It weighs it down and knots like crazy. I tried using the Redken All Soft conditioner to see if that would help with the knots. I am giving up and switching to Matrix.
UPDATE 1/22/2018: After 1 year of experimenting with Matrix and other brands, my husband wanted to go back to Redken. SO here I am trying this product again. Switching from Matrix to this Redken shampoo, my curls and bounce are back in my hair, but the conditioner makes my hair knot so bad! I will use this shampoo with the Matrix volumizing conditioner and this combo now works for me.
