This is a gentle, low-foaming sulfate-free and silicone-free shampoo with neem, tea tree, rosemary, and tumeric. When I shampoo every other day or every two days, I first put oil on the ends and gently massage the oil in my scalp, like pumpkin seed oil to pre-poo. I leave the oil on my ends for about an hour. Then, I wet my hair with a spray bottle. I take a quarter size amount of this very liquid shampoo (it’s not a thick creamy shampoo). I massage it into my scalp. Then I rinse with head bent over under the faucet. I let the remaining shampoo through the rest of my hair and rinse thoroughly. I don’t pour shampoo throughout my whole head. I do this routine so I don’t get in the shower and scrub the top of my head with shampoo. That was killing my curls on the canopy and causing a lot of frizz. I like the light fragrance (natural fragrance of green rice and mint, smells like mint). This shampoo doesn’t irritate or burn or cause itching to my scalp. I do feel it gently cleanses my scalp. There are so many shampoo options available. I like the ingredients in this. I try to narrow my shampoo to benefit my scalp with neem, tea tree, rosemary, etc. as the primary ingredients. And no sulfates or silicones. I bought this at Whole Foods for around $8. I also follow with a conditioner, the Alba Botanica Hawaiian Marula Miracle Moisture Conditioner.
