I bought this shampoo a couple of months ago and I was really excited to try it especially after reading all these glowing reviews. However, after using it my hair became a real disaster. It felt gluey, sticky and extremely dry. I had to stop using it immediately as hair shampoo and instead I started using it as body wash.

Lovely shampoo, cleans my hair well, I do not find that I need to wash daily in order for my hair to feel clean. Also does not irritate my sensitive scalp. I have short hair, bleached every couple of months, so I don’t like to wash too frequently as my hair has enough going on!
Would definitely repurchase.

Great shampoo, I have long dry wavy hair and live in high desert with hard water, I use this shampoo after any color process and is very gentle, cleans and detangles my hair, is the only Shea Moisture shampoo that my hair likes, usually they leave a film or my hair feels very brittle after using it, with this one I don’t even need conditioner after, I don’t get flaky or itchy scalp but I do have to wash my hair more frequently after using it, will continue to use after any hair treatment but not for an everyday shampoo since sulfate free formulas tend to make my hair fall.

This is a review for both the shampoo and conditioner in this line. I’ve been using these for about 2 months as I wanted to make sure my hair agreed with the formulas over time. I have been coloring my hair with henna for about the same time, and needed to find a shampoo and conditioner that was sulfate, silicone, and protein free. The henna acts likes a protein treatment so I didn’t want to overload my hair with protein and end up with dry brittle hair. It needed to be silicone free because it interacts poorly with henna coated hair. This shampoo and conditioner meets all those needs, and I’m loving it, especially the shampoo. My hair feels so soft before I even add the conditioner! It cleans well and truly moisturizes my hair. The conditioner took me a minute to get used to, as I’d become used to the slip that traditional conditioners give. I really have to work it into my hair, and my hair feels a bit weird after using it, but once my hair dries it feels silky smooth, so it does its job. I have also noticed that my hair dries quicker than when I was using silicone laced conditioners, so that’s a plus, because I almost never heat style my fine textured but thick af hair. It does not weigh down my hair, which almost everything does, so that’s a big plus. I will most certainly be using this exclusively until the day they discontinue it, which I hope never happens. Highly recommend for anyone with dry fine textured hair.
