Okay, in order to defend this product based off the other reviews: the most notable difference about this lotion compared to it’s other TanWise counterparts is that this color is WAY off. The original lotion has a green/red undertone and appears to be a very dark, cocoa color straight out of the bottle. This too, has that same dark look inside of the bottle, but applies to the skin like…barbecue sauce. The undertones in this are incredibly more orange/gold/red that the original – and this stuff is a bit more pigmented (in application) than the original. Even after a few hours, this stuff rinses off to leave a fairly light stain, so multiple applications may be necessary. I personally love this color, because with the original TanWise, I would always mix it with another more golden orange based self tanner to balance the green undertones (I am PPP and the original TanWise just kind of made my skin look either light light brown or semi sunburnt) This is around the same price as the original lotion – but please note before purchase that this color is FAR off from the original and won’t give you the same results. However, I do like the color of this and will repurchase.

Nope nope nope…if you want a good self tanner, this is not it!
First of all, the application is horrid. The product is kind of sticky, so there is no way it can be applied smoothly, never mind going out with it on. When I try to rub it in in circular motions, it pills up in teeny tiny flakes, and it looks caked up and gross. It just doesn’t spread easily, and it looks streaky right after application.
It stinks to high heaven, not at first when you apply it, but give it 15 minutes or so…omg!
As for the “one hour” claim… yeah, no. It took longer than that to develop a stain. An orange one, at that.
After washing….yikes, the patches! Far from even, and yellow. Or orange, who can tell anymore..not natural, that’s for sure!
It was cheapish, and it performed cheapish.
Not recommended.

This was my first purchase from this line and I loved it so much I ran out and bought a back up plus the face gel, creamy lotion, and body scrub! I look like I have a glow and it’s perfect for the summer. I like how it dries quickly and color develops in an hour. It smells delicious. I haven’t used self tanners in many years because the smell use to bother me. I’ve been rocking the pale milky look for too long and just wanted a change. And summer is the time to rock a golden glow. My husband loves my new look and keeps telling me how cute I look with a tan. I slept with the self tanner face gel the other night and when I picked up my husband from work the next day he kept staring at me. He said “You look so pretty” … and we have known each other for almost 14 years… So it is very sweet to hear that after all this time!! It definitely makes me look so glowy. I was shopping and caught myself in the mirror – a little tan just made me look radiant and healthy (not all pastey for once!) And it looks so natural. I wonder if a tan makes you look younger too. There was some wine tasting going on at the market and I asked for a sample. I got carded!! I’m closer to 40 (not yet!) so it was quite a compliment. I just love this whole line of self tanners. The price is really inexpensive at Sally Beauty too. They were having a sale on all the products in the Tanwise line and I also had an additional 20% off coupon so it came out dirt cheap! I just love how golden I look! I’m not too brown just this pretty glow! I do have very very fair Asian skin with warm undertones. With the self tanner I now have a medium warm honey tone to my skin (maybe like Mariah Carey color now – not brown just golden tan!) and I look and feel like a new person!

I have used the regular Tanwise Sunless Tanning Lotion and the Tanwise Dark Bronzing Tanning Mousse, both of which are very good and currently my favorites. This, however, does not have the olive undertones that the other two have. The One Hour version has a noticeably more orange tone to it. Having all 3 (from a B2G1F), I put them side by side and there is definitely a difference in shade. The resulting ‘tan’ seems to be ok but I prefer having the olive undertones as I find it looks more natural on my skin. It’s not BAD, just not my preference. I usually apply my self tanner in the evening before bed so I can wash off the colour guide in the morning. I guess if I really needed some FAST colour, this could come in handy but then I’d have to shower 1-2 hours after applying to remove the colour guide? Or if I couldn’t shower, would the colour guide transfer to my clothes? I haven’t been brave enough to try. I’m hoping to return this and get another mousse instead.
ALSO, do be sure to use a tanning mitt with any of these. They will stain your hand very quickly and it takes a rigorous scrubbing with an exfoliator or baking soda to get it all off. Sally used to carry a tanning mitt but mine hasn’t had any as of late so I picked up a St. Tropez tanning mitt at London Drugs (Canada) for $8. They even have tiny 2-finger mitts for the face (3 for $12).
Other advice would be to be sure to exfoliate and apply moisturizer to dry areas (elbows, knees, ankles, knuckles…) before applying self tanner.
