I have this in Medium/Deep for body. I HATE self tanning and generally avoid it, but I am pretty pasty under my clothes (I have what they call a farmer’s tan). Also, like anyone else, I don’t want to spend a ton of money on something like this.
I had a nice shower and exfoliated and then moisturized afterwards, and got to work with applying this product. First of all, the scent was pleasant, as self tanners are usually pretty unpleasant that way. It’s a cream gel, so it applied really evenly and felt nice. I have found gel’s in the past to be streaky and hard to apply. This felt somewhat fool proof. There was a hint of color, but I know it will develop within the next few hours.
Oh and it’s only $26, which is a steal compared to St. Tropez and other brands.

This was the most expensive (at $23 for 4.2oz) of the 3 options I considered for tanning my pale legs to match my tanned arms. The other 2 were Hawaiian Tropic Dark Tanning Oil for $10 for 8oz, and Victoria’s Secret Beach Sexy Self Tan Lotion for $15 for 5.5oz.
This dried the fastest of the 3 options at about 15 minutes after application. It has a smell, but it’s not as offensive as the two aforementioned products and I didn’t notice it after a while, maybe because it was on my legs only. This did not have an instant bronzing effect like the Victoria’s Secret Self Tan lotion, but the color significantly developed in about 3 hours to a natural-looking first-day tan. It was not dark enough to match my arms the first time around but a second application the next day took care of that. The look lasted 2 days without reapplication.
Overall I liked the performance of this self tanner but the Victoria’s Secret Self Tan lotion does almost the same thing but also acts as an instant bronzer, for $7 less and 1.3 oz more product in the tube. The issue I have with the Victoria’s Secret beauty products in general is that they’re almost never a permanent product offering, or the formula changes every year, which isn’t really a problem for me personally since I don’t plan on having a staple self-tanner for anything other than my legs for 3 months out of the year. But if VS decided to discontinue or change their formula, Clinique’s my runner up without question.

I just had my tan on. Only on legs and tummy to see the results .. I can hide them if it’s not so good.
I spent a lot reading reviews on self tanners in the market, and i decided either Geurlain or Clinique , and so i ended up with Clinique bc it’s my first time , so i should not spend A LOT when i’m not sure what i am looking for.
Anyhow. Ao far, i wore cloves and it was hard to know where i’ve applied, so i think i will be surprised tomorrow when i see some missing apots.. It wasnt easy to know but i did my best to apply it everywhere, and cloves didnt help me much to know which areas i covered, woth bare hands you can sense it and knows, but didnt want to risk having orange hands.
I did follow instructions and now i’m waiting to see good results. I still have 2 weeks more for my occasion so i’m in the safe side if this didnt work so well .
It smells fine, which is so weird.. I thought it would smell so bad but it smells just fine.
It never bothered me.
Now im almost 30 mins and it said only 15 mins should be fine for it to dry out.
I read somewhere here that u can know where u’ve applied it and i couldnt .
I got light-med cause that was the only one there..
And im olive so i hope i will see good results tomorrow..
I will build it up by applying everyday until i get the color i want. Hopefully it’s the product that can get me what i want.
If not, i will have to get sth else.

Lovely colour on my very pale legs, very natural looking (well if I could actually tan..). No smell, only negative is that I found it dried out my skin. I must admit to having very dry skin. Overall I may repurchase if I cannot find the same effect with a less dring effect.

Bad things: You can use it, if you just want a little color, because if you use more than a little bit, you will get VERY yellow, because it has yellow undertones :S So it is not natural.
Good things: It does not have any perfume, and they are careful with what they put in it.
It is okay good, if you just want one nuance darker skin color, and it las for 5 days so that okay.

When I started self-tanning about 5 years ago, I went through all sorts of embarrassing problems one would encounter when just starting out. I knew about being careful not to get anything on my palms and soles so I never had orange palms, but I did get streaks over my ankles (even though I was careful), and went through self-tanners that were too orange, comes off in blotches (urgh this is the worst because it looks like some skin disease), transfers onto clothes no matter how long I waited for it to dry etc.
Love this self-tanner – the only problem I have with it is its price. But I’m willing to pay and have been doing so for years. This has been my HG self-tanner for ages! It makes my skin glow without being too orange or that weird grey-slate brown some tanners seem to turn your skin into. I apply it (doesn’t take long – around 5-10 minutes) for my whole body with a plastic glove and let it dry for another 5-15 minutes before wearing my clothes and going to sleep (on a towel, just in case). I have oily skin and breakout problems (no cystic acne or anything like that) but the body lotion doesn’t aggravate it when I apply it on my face 🙂 I bought the face one but the colour is slightly lighter than the body lotion and looks funny, so I would recommend just using the body lotion. The SA at the counter also says that she does that lol.
After I shower in the morning, the tan is there but subtle. Later in the day, I’ll be positively glowing. I find that putting it on for at least 4 hours makes the tan appear. Repeat it 2 more times and it gives you a look only achievable with 10 times of hour-long sun-tanning 😀 But I usually just do this once a week to maintain a good tan since I wear dresses to work and tanned, toned legs just look better 🙂
Highly recommend this! Will use it till I get tired of a tanned look! Don’t go under the sun…it’s not worth the years of leathery skin and wrinkles and increased risk of skin cancer.

I was using a Clarins self tanner which I really liked. However I decided to save money and try this Clinique product. I’m not a fan of the shimmer and found it didn’t give much of a tan even with a few layers. I’m closer to medium toned skin. Looks like I’ll be going back to Clarins. Unless of course I come across a brand that is cheaper and gives the color like Clarins. I won’t repurchase this product

On my “older” skin this product is the worst! It turns the age spots on my arms a very unnatural bright orange. It streaks. It smells awful, to the extent that even my husband commented on it. I managed to scrub some of it off with a strong exfoliator and won’t go near it again. Don’t waste your money on this! There has got to be better out there.

I got a small size of this in a bonus. The color did not stay on but the smell was horrible and I could smell it all night!! Definitely would not have bought it.

I was really disappointed with this. I found it was very streaky and orange, and when I applied it, it wasnt very bold, which I’m glad since it was orangy, but if I had liked the colour, I would still have been disappointed. I also felt that when I applied it that I felt oily and it felt like it took hours and hours to dry.
