Like many of us, I write reviews of new products I buy when I’m really impressed or really disgusted. Sometimes I don’t pay enough attention to the daily workhorses. I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve repurchased this-20?
In the morning I use an HA serum on a wet face, then on alternating days a Vitamin C or a salicylic acid. This every day is then my moisturizer/sunscreen. It has an SPF 20 which has never broken out my reactive skin, mild scent and works for my dry/very dry skin. I use medium to tan, and in my winter NC 40, summer C3/C4 skin it doesn’t really show a ton, but does even things out and boost a glow. I never, ever tan my face, but am guilty of body tanning in the summer, so I need more self face tanner in the warmer months. It’s not the sunscreen you’re going to use with any serious outside time, but as a daily for someone who works indoors in a northern state it’s been terrific.

I have used this for several years during the summer to maintain tan legs in shorts (live in a hot climate!). I had a half a tube left over from last summer and used it until it ran out when it started to get warm this spring. I have always loved it except it seemed to take a long time to dry, but I live in a humid climate. I wouldn’t dare finish dressing until it was dry, for fear that it would rub off and I would be streaky. So I got a new tube, put some on, and it seemed thicker and it dried easier. I thought this was great, that they had improved it. But no, it was way different in more ways I discovered after a few days. The tan seems to rub off daily on my thighs where my clothes rub against it and on my feet where my shoes rub on it. So now you have to reapply more frequently and I have a very uneven tan. It used to last longer and only had to be reapplied every few days after you got the darkness you wanted. Either I got a bad batch, or they have reformulated and ruined it for me. I’m rating it for the new tube I got.

Ok, I consider myself a self-tanner snob. I never buy anything from a Drugstore, due to bad previous orange-tastic results.I usually buy online, or from Sephora (think St. Tropex, Faux Tan by BE etc.) I got this tube in a Glossybox, and decide one night to give it a try, thinking it was “gradual” and I just wanted to test it out. WHOA! I was completely tanned the next day, and got many comments and compliments. Also, it really seemed to last . I then re-applied today after my shower, and I just went to a Cardio Bootcamp. My trainer said “Wow, you look great! Awesome tan!” When I told him it was from a bottle, he couldnt believe it. Guess what? It stinks (literally). It has that distinct “self-tanner” smell. I have yet to find ANY brand that does not smell, no matter WHAT they claim. They ALL smell. Small price to pay for a healthy alternative to sun. I will keep using it. I even put it on my face….awesome, EVEN results.

I had to leave a review of this product because I’m shocked by all the really positive reviews I see for this. It’s one of the worst self tanners when it comes to smell… if you even want to call it a self tanner. I am ghostly pale and I found the light to medium formula to be useless so I thought I’d give this one a shot. On the plus side, gradual self tanners like this one are pretty much goof proof. I had no issue with streaks or unevenness and the color when it finally develops after days and days and days is natural looking, but not great if you actually want to look tan. You can’t miss a single day of application while the color is developing to the point that you want to be at and as soon as you exfoliate at any point after you start using this, you can kiss your tan goodbye. It’s washed down the drain forcing you to start the entire process all over again applying every single day. Miss more than a day of applying and you’re blotchy. The new formula still has that penny smell to it and I’ve noticed that the color reference on the back of the bottle gets lighter and lighter each year suggesting they’re using less dha forcing you to apply it for a longer period of time and more often 2x a day to get results yet the price keeps going up. I won’t be repurchasing. There are way better instant self tanners that smell better, cost less, and only need to be applied once or twice a week so they’re way less maintenance.

Love this stuff. I’m a paper-white girl, who likes to look tan in the summer, without the skin damage. I purchased this to use during the week to help keep the color between my weekend sunless tanning session. I have been very pleased with this product! Keeps me evenly dark, and it has no tanner smell! I tried this on it’s own (no other tanner), and I believe it works best as an in-between. But either way, give it a shot! And don’t waste your time with the light to medium, unless you aren’t looking to be noticeably darker.

I started using this product again during the winter. The promise of a new, odorless formula enticed me, because the smell is what turned me off from this product in the past. Anyway, in the winter, there’s no smell– but that’s because I’m not sweating. Spring has sprung, folks, and guess what? I’m spending more time outside with my son, I’m getting sweaty, and I SMELL TERRIBLE. It also streaks, something I don’t usually have an issue with. I still use it, because it seems to be the best drugstore every day product, but St Tropez mousse is so much better as a weekly product. I also go through a bottle of Jergens in three weeks. If I could find a cheaper, better drugstore self tanner, I’d break up with Jergens in a heartbeat.

Thumbs up to Jergens, they did get rid of the odor initially. As the day progresses, I’ve noticed a self tanner odor, but it is not as bad this year. I tried medium to tan formula. I’ve used it for over a week now, and I’m not seeing much of a tan. I love how there is hardly any odor, it hasn’t streaked, it is gradual but not enough for me. Still, a great product.

I finally gave into the hype and bought the new odor-free, firming version of this in the med-tan shade.
Initially it is indeed odor-free, but I do smell a very faint but distinctive self-tanner smell sometimes, usually 2 hours or less after I’ve used it. However, because it is pretty good for firming (at least for me) and the color development has been DIVINE, I will keep using it!
I am extremely fair and pale – I burn and then go straight back to pale, lol. With this product, I get a lovely, natural-looking tan that builds on the FIRST application. I’m past the point where I try being tan, since the sun is so damaging, but boy, my inner vain tan wannabe sure does LOVE the look of this stuff. I use it every other day, just to minimize the chance of looking unnatural, but it delivers.
I do think it takes awhile to absorb, so I always leave it on 15-20 minutes before getting dressed. No greasy afterfeel. And so far, no streaks or other weirdness I often see from self-tanner, even my beloved L’Oreal Sublime Sun, which I use in conjunction with this, after mid-April.
I do think the firming properties are pretty good, too. The texture of my skin looks improved.
Try it. I was super doubtful of it and I LOVE it!!

I bought this “new” formula that is supposed to have no odor. The formula is much thicker(i bought firming) and while it doesn’t smell right away it does later! It has the same effect on me as their older products….I don’t notice any less “smell” than their previous products!
I do like the color, however.

I love this tinted moisturizer. I use it year round (but especially in the winter months) to maintain a healthy glow and I get compliments on my nice tan all the time. The only problem that I have is that sometimes it comes off on the insides of my clothes which is annoying but it just rinses out when I wash it.
