The Lancer Method is a rather strange regimen devised by Dr. Lancer of Beverly Hills, Los Angeles. His famous Lancer Method consists of three precise steps, the first step is this one, Polish. If I may say so this is nothing more than an overpriced scrub, while it may indeed utilise the same magnesium oxide crystals used in professional microdermabrasion treatments administered by doctors and cosmetic nurses, dermal therapists and medical estheticians, it is far too scrubby, gritty and almost too harsh for my liking. Magnesium and aluminum oxide crystals are usually even in texture, but combined with the sodium bicarbonate (highly alkaline) in this formula this is simply too much for fine delicate facial skin.
I don’t hate scrubs, I don’t avoid them either, but if I’m going to use one I’d rather use one as an extra cleansing step for temporary smoothness, I’m afraid with a product such as this one it is very easy to over do it. I would reserve such a strong product as this one for a good back exfoliation, or on your rough spots like you gnarly knees, knuckles, elbows and feet. If you must use this skin polish, do NOT use it everyday as recommended! I would use something like this only once or twice a week. Everyday would be overkill. Yet having said all this, there are many who swear by it and there are intriguing before and afters’ online.
I as a skin care fanatic prefer to stay within the realm of gentle and effective leave on chemical exfoliants like gylcolic acid and lactic acid, left on in effective concentrations in a nice moisturising base. Far more gentle than scratching skin with this polish which feels like shards of broken glass to be honest.
I don’t agree with the directions to use this before cleansing, it just makes no sense, if you are going to exfoliate the skin, it is much more logical and scientifically sound to cleanse all debris, grime and stale makeup from the skin and pores, before heading in with this polish, then and only then can an exfoliant to its job.
I will follow this review with a review on the cleanser and the nourish moisturiser. This review is for the standard normal to combination Polish in the Lancer Method. Packaging is modern enough but nothing fancy, dispenses product out of tube easily. Easy to travel with.
Summary: OVERpriced scrub, not exactly gentle, if you must use it, use it once a week or so only!, consider a well formulated leave on chemical exfoliant at a fraction of the price of this scrub (might as well use ST.IVES). It is scented with lavender oil (Sensitive skins beware) and contains a high amount of alkaline sodium bicarbonate (that’s baking soda!). I would not repurchase or recommend this product.

I got this polish as a trial for the 3-step Method, and I have been able to use it a few times. I am not a fan of the so called Method, just becasue they tell you to first polish and then cleanse: to me this makes no sense and I use it the other way around: I cleanse my skin and then exfoliate (note: I don’t like the Method because of this order they command, and the nourish cream is just too rich and packed with silicones).
I really like this polish, using it on clean skin; you have to be careful not to rub it intensely otherwise it can irritate your skin, massage very gently the very fine microbeads will work their magic.
Kim Kardashian is said to use this….honestly my skin feels transformed straight after using.
It makes my skin feel super clean, non irritated and supple after use, It has a lovely lavender scent and really does scrub away all the dead skin. My skin instantly looks brighter and more even. I find this is the perfect way to kickstart a good skin pamper
I just feel that the price is a tad too hefty – I wish it came in a smaller packaging and lower price.
