I’ve used this product for years as a body scrub. I get air brush tans and it’s great to use this between tans because it really exfoliates your body. But it’s way too harsh to use on your face!

I feel that this is too abrasive for the face so I only use it on my body. I typically rubbed my legs with it in the shower right before shaving and my legs are super smooth now. It smells great and the squeezable container makes it easy to dispense without leaving a mess.

You shouldn’t use this very frequently on your face, but it’s great for your body. I have thick skin with high cell turnover on my face, so I will lightly and gently use it every few months or so on my face. It is an absolute amazing body exfoliating scrub, and helps reduce my body acne by quite a lot.

As I was reading the other reviews for this Product, I realized we all have this in common. We don’t use this for our face because it is too abrasive BUT we use it as a Body Exfoliator. PERFECT.
The Particles are very Harsh and Scrapy, the face is just too Sensitive for this Product but Great for the Body with Thicker Skin. I’ve been buying this product for years but won’t use it on my face. If you are looking for a fantastic face scrub, and Lord knows I’ve tried a ton of them, I highly recommend VASANTI. It is a bit pricey so I look for it on Ebay first, but it is the best face scrub I have ever used.

I love this scrub. Not the best scrub for exfoliation, but that’s not why I use this specific product. This scrub, is hands down, the best smelling scrub I have ever used. (I actually think of it more as an exfoliator than a scrub) Only a little is needed, in fact, less is more with this scrub. (too much and it will give you a burning sensation and dry skin out). I have always loved apricots and this doesn’t smell like that fake synthetic fruit scent almost every fruit flavoured beauty product in the supermarket has these days. It’s not the best performing scrub I’ve used, although it is certainly not a bad scrub, in fact, it’s very good considering the price. Sometimes I’ll use it just to smell the apricot scent on my face. But do not over exfoliate! Love the smell of apricots. And very good value.

A few months back,I read about how harsh this is for use on the skin as it’s extremely abrasive and the beads can cause micro tears on the skin which is bad.
I have bought this twice before though.
Once for my face a few years back and once again a few months ago, strictly for use on my body as I like to exfoliate my body.
All I remember(because it’s been a few years) from when I was using it on my face,is that I didn’t experience any issues with it and it worked ok for me,perhaps because I had really great skin at the time anyway.
Keep in mind,it IS a very exfoliating scrub.
A few months ago,I was looking for a good scrub for the body and I stumbled upon this at a store.I bought it even though I had read about the danger of micro tears a while back, mainly because the skin on our body is less sensitive than the one on our face.
As a body scrub it does a good job, especially if you use it twice a week after a warm shower.
I want to add it has a light fruity apricot scent. Also, because of the nature of the packaging,it’s hard to get the last bits of product out of the bottle.
I definitely wouldn’t use it on my face due to it being too abrasive for the skin on the face but I would use it on my body.

I think it’s easier to do a pro and con of this product.
Pros:
– cheap
– readily available
– does not irritate my skin
– exfoliates really well which helps with acne and scarring.
-brightens complexion
– exfoliation beads are from walnuts so it wont harm the environment
Cons:
– could be too harsh for some skin types
– the salicylic acid doesn’t do much in this since it’s just a scrub- it doesn’t remain on your face for very long
– there is some debate about skin damage (micro-tears) but I think that comes up with most scrubs.
– you have to make sure you rinse it off well because the little beads feel annoying if any get left behind or in hair lol (didnt irritate my skin the few times it has happened)
Overall I’ve had no I’ll effects from this. It does the job and helps my skin. Definitely if you’re not dealing with acne, acne scarring etc then use something more gentle- it’s not necessary for non- acne prone skin imo.
EDIT:
I never noticed Ill effects from this but stopped using it because of the microtear fear lol instead I’ve been using Pixi glow tonic in the morning and I have to say- it exfoliates better than this. After a few days I really noticed how perfectly smooth my skin was… So if you are looking for a chemical alternative, and have tried salicylic acid with meh results for exfoliation (like me), try Pixi glow tonic or a similar glycolic acid toner 🙂

I’m almost 40 and have been using this off and on since high school back in the 1990s. thru years how I use it has changed but I still do use it. i use to use it to wash my face then used it to exfoliate and now I use it as a body scrub. it’s too harsh for my face and prefer a more gentle but still effective exfoliating face wash and my skin appreciated it. I buy this in the larger container that has the screw top and large mouth opening cause I can stick my hand on to scoop enough product out to use on my body. I Exfoliate daily and then use a harsher exfoliant a few days a week and this is a few days a week scrub. it really gets my body rid of all my dry and dead skin to leave me with soft smooth skin that looks healthy and taken care of. plus it’s so inexpensive that even if I am currently using a different scrub I still keep this on hand in case I run out or just feel like using this. it makes me nostalgic too which is pretty priceless having this remind me of happy memories thru the years. the fact that this has been around for at least 22 years that I’ve used it speaks for the product itself. granted me and my face have grown up and moved on to other face products but I’m glad to have tried it and really like it as a body scrub. if you use this for your face and don’t Exfoliate your body, take this and try it out as a body scrub. you’ll love it and realize why you should scrub your body too

I really like Clinique 7 Day Scrub Cream – Rinse Off Formula, but at a fraction of the price, St. Ives Apricot Scrub is pretty remarkable. It contains ground up walnuts, which don’t harm the environment. However, ground walnuts can scrape the skin, so, I’m extra gentle rubbing it across my face. I use this once or twice a week. I like to use this in the morning before I shower.
that way I can shower off any particles that may have gotten in my hairline. It smells nice. It’s cheap and readily available. What more can you ask for? Highly recommend.

This product was all the rage when I was in high school and gained somewhat of a cult status among women in America, but this product is so, so, SO damaging to the skin. The scrub creates micro scratches and micro tears on skin that will eventually leave the skin vulnerable, inflamed and dull. The ingredients aren’t clean, the product is damaging– I remember this did nothing to help the flakes on my skin, but would rather irritate my skin and make it red from irritating abrasion.
If the skin is in desperate need of exfoliation, if budget allows, I find that my clarisonic mia does an amazing job once a week and leaves my skin with a nice sheen. Chemical exfoliators (skincare products for the needs of one’s skin type) are the better option for exfoliation. I do not use chemical exfoliators because I’m currently happy with my Clarisonic mia brush.
