This review is for the SHEA MOISTURE African Black Soap Clarifying Facial Wash & Scrub with Tamarind Exctract & Tea Tree Oil, Pheww that was long! Get to the Product Already!
This came in a Queeze Tube, although it says African Black Soap, the Actual Color was Beige with Black Scrub Particles. The first thing that catches you is the Scent. It Smells really Nice and Yummy. It was a little on the Soapy side so I think I just used too much Product for the first time. It did do a Complete Face Wash, Removing all of my Make-up leaving it Super Soft and Smooth. The Scrub Particles were not too coarse so it didn’t tear up my Skin. This also advertises as for Blemish Prone Skin.
I really enjoyed this Product, it was a Goodie for me and it just Smells so Yummy. I would buy it again for Sure!

Look, straight up… had to knock one star off because this is marketed as a scrub. If it hadn’t been, I’d give it five stars.
My skin is VERY combination- majorly clogged t-zone and chin, dry cheeks with expression lines, and just beginning to mature.
This, as a basic cleanser, is really nice! It doesn’t irritate my skin, dry it out too much, and leaves it clean. I started using it three weeks ago and haven’t had any breakouts since. I was using a salicylic/charcoal cleanser before that was making my problems worse. I have clogged pores causing redness all the time and the addition of clay and tea tree oil seems to really help with that. Tea tree oil is known to kill demodex, so if you have an overabundance of them, it can be useful. Every face with rosacea is different, so what may calm one individual’s skin, may irritate another’s. My skin no longer feels tight after I wash it but I’m able to run my hands over my pores and feel that they’re smooth and cleaned out pretty well.
That said, I DO go in twice a week with The Ordinary’s AHA peel, wash that off, and follow it with the Queen Helene clay mask, to really get in there and keep that gunk out. This routine seems to have cut down on my redness but there is residual scarring. I wish I had known about this years ago in order to prevent scarring. If you’re reading this, and this routine works out for you, these words won’t be in vain.
I friggin love clay, and this is a great cruelty-free addition to my skincare collection!

This is my BF’s but he got into Shea Moisture products because of me so I wasn’t about to pass up an opportunity to try more of the line I love so much.
I want to start by saying that I love African Black soap in general. It clears up my breakouts in a snap. BUT THIS IS NOT A SCRUB! Sorry. Ahem. Anyway, the first time I used this I was actually quite pissed off. There are hardly any scrubby bits in this. They were so few and far between that their presence were more of an annoyance than anything else. Now, not every scrub needs to be St Ives Apricot Scrub level, but come on now.
I don’t know if it helps with breakouts because I prefer to not be mad while washing my face. But I will say that African Black soap in general works great for that so just pick up a bar of that and call it a day.

I have been using this product for about two years now. I have acne prone, as well as oily skin. This product has been very good to the acne I have on my back. Scarring has been fading, though I have yet to use it on my face.

My skin is clean and it takes off makeup effectively but it never fails to sting my eyes–badly. I wanted to like this as it uses natural ingredients and jojoba beads instead of the plastic beads that are bad for the environment.
