I tried this product in my 30’s and stopped using because it seemed to ball up on my skin. Now in my late 40’s and searching for a primer because my go to brand is constantly sold out. The Clinque rep. tried this on me and said it wasn’t working correctly because my face was properly exfoliated. I purchased, along with more skin care products, tried for a week and the little balls of primer made me look like a had a peeling face. I returned the product and was told that this happens with many people.

So I used this then went out for dinner and drinks with my SIL. While my neck and collarbone had great red blotches (my normal reaction to alcohol) my face had a pinkish flush. Next time I’ll coat my neck as well. I didn’t notice any obvious smell. It seems thicker and tackier than other primers I’ve used. I seems to apply fairly smoothly. I normally apply this over moisturizer before going to work. When I use this with foundation, my makeup lasts longer than normal before disappearing.

I wanted to love this as a primer but I just can’t. It does have some light colour correcting abilities, it definitely reduces redness a bit, but ashes a primer, it is really lack lustre. For a better idea of what I’m working with, my skin is combination, and pores are on the larger side so I do tend to steer towards silicone based primers mostly.
I do like the texture, very smooth and silky, but it doesn’t make it any easier to get a smooth foundation base, it takes forever for me to blend a foundation out to the same level as when I’m not wearing it, and does not make a difference to how long a foundation will wear for. I’d be more inclined to use this alone on days where I don’t want any foundation on to dull out redness that to use as a primer.
I wouldn’t repurchase this, and I’d recommend getting a sample if possible to see how it wears on your skin before committing to buy 🙂

This is a fine primer for normal to oily, red skin. It really does even out redness due to its yellow pigmentation, but is a little drying for my combo skin. Doesn’t really affect the wear of makeup, so it’s more of a skin equalizer than a primer.

Altough clinique is a brand that I trust and like, this primer makes my dry skin even drier. I didn’t notice any big difference with my makeup and it doesn’t feel lightweight on the skin. I strongly dislike its texture. However, my sister has the normal one (without colour correcting) and she likes it. It has a great texture, very different from the colour correcting one. I would recommend that one.

Personally, I would purchase this product again and I really like it. However, I do not have any experience with other primers as this is the only face primer I have used. I got a sample of this product from Sephora for 100 points and I liked it so much that I have purchased two full size bottles since receiving that sample. In the past I only used Make Up Forever foundation without any primer so I noticed a huge difference when I used this primer before my foundation. I find that it makes my foundation look much better and makes it last all day long; even in the summer. Also, this product does not claim to improve one’s skin but for some reason my acne has reduced and my skin itself has improved since using this product and others have noticed. I have no clue why my skin has improved since using this product especially because clinique does not claim that it will reduce acne but for some reason it did, which will make me keep purchasing this product for the foreseeable future. I gave packaging a 4/5 because it could benefit from a safety seal.

I don’t think it does any good for my makeup. I have combination, oily in summer/dryish in winter skin with not so severe acne, acne scars, wide pores and dry patches.
This product didn’t cause me extra breakouts or anything, but it FEELS like it clogs up pores completely, not allowing the skin to breathe normally; the face felt extremely greasy though when you touch it, it seems powdery. It made dry patches stand out and the oilier areas were shining like crazy after less than an hour (they normally start to in about 2-3 hours after applying makeup and I have to blot and use powder then).
I tried using it before my beloved Revlon Colorstay liquid foundation and it applied way worse than usual, the lines were horribly visible and such, the foundation didn’t cover anything and just glid off very promptly. I thought that maybe it’d be better with the Clinique foundation (I have the even better foundation in the lightest shade that I don’t like very much, it has pretty much zero coverage and doesn’t suit my skin type or tone. Revlon buff/chamois is the only foundation at the market that matches my skin color/tone) so I tried applying that but the outcome was even worse than with Revlon. Horribly cakey, immediately shiny buildup on my face.
I guess I’m just not a primer person, to be fair, I’m not very comfortable with the feeling of anything at all on my face: even moisturizer seems heavy to me (any of them) so I try and use as little full face products as possible. However, there might be people like me who think they can do with some of the primers. This primer is not for you, fellow naked-face-sensation-lovers. Do not recommend.

This was my first primer, so I was very excited to try it. Like most Clinique products, this one did not irritate my very sensitive skin, in fact it feels great on my skin. It went on smooth and easy, not oily at all. This product did not do a whole lot to reduce redness, but it did help. Not to mention I used half the foundation I usually would. Overall it’s a good product.

It is nothing amazing, but it helps my foundation go and stay on. It doesn’t really so much for redness, just a little. A little goes a long way. It is not shiny like some that I feel greasy, but cover pores well. It looks bright yellow but a dab spreads far. Sets powdery. I wouldn’t say it has super shine or oil control, but it dampens those thing. I don’t want to look too matte or too shiny. My spf moisturizers make me shiny and my makes my make up slide. So it helps with that. I wish it had some spf, so I did not feel I was tampering with my sunscreen. Nothing amazing but did minimize pores. Make up glide so and looks better and lasts longer.

I got this as a free gift from Sephora. There was almost no difference than if I didn’t use any primer. It did absolutely nothing to cover redness, and in fact it was harder to blend foundation over the dry spots with this primer. Don’t bother, I bet you drug store brands are even better.
