This is a gorgeous hydrating primer which smooths out my skin, and really grips to my makeup, meaning that my face will last all day. It has a thick, sticky texture and you only need a very small amount of product to cover your whole face- which is great as it is very pricey. It definitely gives the appearance of smoother skin. It also hydrates the skin. It has played nicely with all foundations I have paired it with (e.g. Too Faced Peach Perfect, Beauty Blender Bounce and It CC+). It helps makeup last all day, and also helps makeup to have less transfer. It also gives the skin a healthy sheen, and glows through the makeup – making it perfect for those who don’t want an entirely matte look. I don’t find that it makes my skin look oily though, just healthy. (My skin type is combination for reference). Those with very oily skin types, or those who prefer very matte makeup may not enjoy this though, and would probably prefer the Mineral Veil primer. I really enjoyed this primer, and would repurchase.

I finished an entire bottle and enjoyed every minute. Its great under or over skincare and on occasions I used this as serum on bare skin, its very versatile. It makes foundation go on like a dream, however it is oil based so I used this mostly during colder months, this may be a little heavy for oily types but good for spot use anyhow. This is very expensive for what it is and I don’t like how the bottle/website contains no ingredients, its only on the box which I threw out. I’m now using the Ordinary high spreadability fluid primer which feels the same. It does not have the 28 precious oils and is fragrance free but I got this for $5 in the Black Friday sales and honestly, its just as good. I don’t think the hourglass version is worth the price and there is no discernible difference in performance. I would recommend you buy the smaller travel size to give it a test run, since the full size is $65, so perhaps buy with a code. I would give it 2 more lippies if this was significantly cheaper.

I am a fan of the mineral veil primer, but since my skin became so dry and flaky due to a cleansing product, I decided to try this, and I was not disappointed. It is expensive, but I was pretty desperate. This primer is full of silicones, however, it is smoothing and feels nice on my skin. It is definitely not for oily skin, and would probably cause breakouts. For me is made my foundation glide on, and set beautifully, and made my skin look poreless, and smooth. It covered my dry patches as well, and did not react with my already irritated skin. I think I will use this in the winter and the mineral veil in the summer. Outstanding!

Recently my skin decided it has been oily for too long and it was time to do a 180 degree turn as soon as possible to throw off my entire skincare and makeup routine. So naturally, I went to Sephora and asked a MUA for samples of very very moisturizing primers and this was one of them. I was really really nervous about this because it’s a serum and I’m so paranoid from my oily skin years about being a total greaseball. I was so so pleasantly surprised by this. First off, the smell is amazing and the consistency is very serum like. Second, it applies very smoothly and a little goes a long way. I usually let my primers settle into my skin for a few minutes after application before foundation. Seriously, this stuff eliminates pores. The first time I used it I was so poreless it was scary. But that’s the look I’m going for in the end so I love it. On oilier days, I still use this and let it settle in but then I’ll apply a matte primer very sparingly and gently in my T-zone and this combination has been working beautifully for me. The only downside to this primer is that it’s so expensive.

Love this product for when my skin is angry with me. Absolutely perfect for hydrating. Only downside is the price.

I love this primer. I wish I didn’t because it’s so pricey and the packaging is … frustrating, to say the least.
It goes on incredibly well and gives my skin a dewy glow that I love under liquid foundation that I haven’t been able to find with another primer. I find if you apply too much it’s a bit greasy so less is more and it lasts longer that way anyway. It definitely has a serum-consistency feel to it and the scent is beautiful. I have pretty dry skin and I find this very moisturising.
Unfortunately, something that is really erking me recently is the packaging. For the third time now of buying this incredible foundation, due to the fact that I travel quite a bit for work, I have found that the pump has broken and become loose which has caused a lot of this product to leak from the bottle. It is heartbreaking because it’s so expensive. I can no longer risk taking it with me just because it seems to break so easily and I’m buying it directly from the manufacturer so I know it’s not a tampered article. I now only crack it open on special occasions which is probably for the best anyway!

This is by far the best primer I’ve tried. And I have tried MANY, I’m a real primer junkie. Perfect for us with dry skin. I let it sink in for like 1-2 minutes every morning and then apply my foundation (Clarins Skin Illusion) over. The makeup stays on for hours and hours. I’m very dry, so I use hyaluronic acid, a serum and day creme (all from Paula’s Choice) under it, and everything works fine with this. Haven’t noticed any product that does not go with this primer. Its also wonderful with the Hourglass Hyaluronic Skin Tint foundation – actually it’s good with any foundation – and the ambient lightning powder from the same brand. Thats my holy trinity for special occasions.
The bad thing is oc the price tag and the fact that no website or beauty store in Sweden have Hourglass in their range of brands.
I know that it’s not recommended to order from eBay, but I must admit I have done it with this product some times. It’s pricey there as well, but it saves me at least 10-15$ (which usually is like the shipping cost). And I have always gotten the real deal, no fake products.

One word. Yassssss, but only for dry skin.
Smells and feels amazing upon application, keeps make up lasting all day. I would recommend this for my dry skin sisters, the Mineral Veil would be better for those with oily or combo skin.

This is a very hydrating primer.
First, a bit about my skin. Just finished accutane and now on a ‘maintenence dose’ (40mg /week) to keep the oiliness away. SO, my skin is ‘normal’ to slightly dry but, above all else, sensitive. Large pores, some wrinkles, no blemishes.
This primer is perfect for my dry skin- adds an extra layer of hydration on top of my morning moisturiser. As for the texture, this is thick, clear, syrup-y stuff. Doesn’t feel super silicone-y or as slippy as most other ‘cone’ based primers (a la smashbox et al). I haven’t really encountered other primers quite like it, and I’ve certainly tried a few. This spreads on pretty easy, with one pump enough for my face, though sometimes I use a tiny bit extra if my skin is feeling dry. The small bottle has lasted me approx 4 months so far and I still have a quarter of a bottle left to go.This is ever so slightly irritating to my skin when I first spread it on my face- I notice my skin turns a little red when I smooth it on, but it settles quickly.
The fragrance is quite strong. Clearly from the essential oils in it, not synthetic scent. To my nose, it smells a bit like ylang ylang. Not unpleasant, but strong. Scent does fade, though.
I find this provides a very moist, slightly sticky and even surface for my foundation to spread over. Makes my armani luminous skil (LS) even more luminous! Gives me the perfect dewy finish.
However, doesn’t help mimimise pores or wrinkles. After approx 4 months of use I haven’t noticed any skin care benefits at all.
In terms of helping my foundation stay put throughout the day and extending the wear… well, honestly I’m not sure. I think it does, but not amazingly so. Because it’s so moist, it does make my foundation transfer to clothes, phone etc, a lot.
Overall, this is a great primer to knock your hydration up a notch (bam!), but that’s it’s number one claim to fame. Didn’t extend the wear of my foundation by a whole heck of a lot and didn’t mimimise pores etc. Did make a smooth facial canvas, though, and really gives my skin that dewy look- for about an hour or two.
I would say this primer is ideally suited to those with very dry skin who are not at all sensitive. Oily and acne skins- avoid this like the plague! I tried it before I took accutane and wow- what a hot mess it made of my face.
Very expensive, too, so definitely sample it before committing to a full bottle. That said, it does last a loooong time.
Although I did say I’d repurchase, I’ll probably continue to try out other primers. Because, yeah, beauty junky.
This is great, but not outstanding.

Initially I was not amazed by this primer, it basically just felt like putting oil on my face. This was when i was pairing it with nars sheer glow. Because the foundation just was not good for me I guess it didnt enhance the effects of the primer. Over the weekend I tried it with my mac foundation and was pleasantly surprised how nice it looked. It provides a nice hydrating barrier between your skin and foundation so the foundation sits on it nicely.
The packaging for this is terrible, it is a nice glass bottle but there is no pump so everytime i have to open it, I get it everywhere. i’m not sure if this is everywhere though or just Australia. Price wise ($95 in Aus), crazy! you’d expect it to give you a mini face lift as well for that price.
It is good, but not worth the price. I would suggest trying to find a sample and to only buy it if you LOVE it.
