You have to be careful when using this product in order to make it work. I used it a couple of times and I absolutely hated it! It flaked like crazy and I had a hard time blending my foundation. This primer is very very mattifying and used with a mattifying moisturizer + mattifying foundation, it was a disaster. However, now I use a normalizing moisturizer and I can use the primer without any problem, it flakes a little bit but nothing like it did before. It does keep my face matte for a longer time but I still cannot see any pore minimizer effects. The packaging is something that really annoys me: it is a plastic tube but it is hard to squeeze.

And yet another very bad primer. This one dried my face out completely. So much, that it left white, dry patches where I applied it. When that first happened, I thought my skin was just too dry, so I applied more of it and watched it sink into my skin in the mirror. I felt my skin tightening up, and after moving my face muscles a bit, the product on my face was just turning white and leaving those white patches. I looked like I’d put my face into a bowl of flour. Wow seriously..?

I was absolutely gutted when my skin type changed from being dry to combination with an oily nose. I think it is due to my new birth control. Anyway, I have had to change a couple of things to accommodate this, such as my skin care routine and very good primer to combat the oil on my nose.
I was just browsing on the internet for a primer for oily skin. When I came across this. I have heard of Kiko before but I have never tried there products.
Packaging- Love the packaging, easy to use, doesn’t spill or get clogged, also to keep clean.
Application- The formula of this is very strange. I want to say its gel like. Rather than a silicone texture. When you apply this do it in sections. It sets VERY quickly and feels weird for a second or so until it has set properly. Once it has set it may feel dry in sections, or not quite right(you’ll get what I mean). I have managed to get over that bit, all you have to do it take your hand, lightly rub all over your face with your finger tips once it has set just to smooth it out, and make sure it has blended together. This is the reason it doesn’t have full marks, but honestly the outcome is wonderful, and I can look past this.
Wear- I LOVE THIS PRIMER. It stops oil in its tracks right from the get go. When its set my face is completely matte. I then apply my foundation as normal. I do my makeup at around 8am everyday, and wont take it off till about 7/8pm I checked at midday and my face was oil free. I checked again at 4pm still oil free. At around 6pm I could see some shine poking through but that is fine by me, it lasted my entire day at work (9:30am-4pm) which is exactly what I wanted, a primer to keep my shine at bay whilst I go about my daily business. I also do use a moisturizer before I apply any other product. I tend to go out at night partying and what not, I used to but this would be a great primer, for when you are dancing or in general nights out as it lasts along time. I wouldn’t recommend doing exercise in this. As I see this as a heavy duty primer and may cause break outs if you exercise in it or don’t remove it correctly.
Price/Overall- I think the price £11 and seriously you cant go wrong with that. Don’t be put off by the bad reviews, if you have combination skin, with an oily t-zone or extremely oily then you NEED this. I have ordered another along with some other things to try out from Kiko! Cannot wait 🙂

Worst primer I’ve ever tried. It’s stiff, it smells ugly and it is a complete waste of money ( it’s not pricey, but still a waste ). It makes your foundation look awful and it divides your face into sections of dry patches. Won’t buy this primer again, I’m actually gonna throw it away.

Worst Primer I have ever used. It has a very thick consistency almost like a silicone texture. When I applied it on my skin, it was very difficult because i couldn’t get it to move on other areas. Its too thick and it doesn’t disappear like a primer is supposed to. The worst part is yet to come. When it came to applying my foundation, it was a struggle. It made my foundation break down into patches and the primer was still showing through. By the end of the day my foundation had completely separated from my face. It was a complete and utter disaster. I have used this primer several times and I thought that maybe I was applying it the wrong way but no. Its just completely horrible. Reasonable price though. Besides that, I wont ever buy this primer again.

That primer really does what it claims. It feels like you’re putting on translucent powder and it doesn’t cause breakouts on my skin since that primer contains no silicones at all. The packaging is typically Kiko, it reminds me of expensive make-up products (MAC, Lancome etc.). I bought my first MBC about a year ago and there is still product inside but I don’t use it every day since your skin needs to breathe. Overall, a very good primer which fullfills its promises for a good price.

Made it look like I have dry patches everywhere when I applied foundation over it.

I’ve only bought this a few days ago and I’ve used it twice but felt I had to write a review! My skin is super oily – I wear double wear light foundation and find I usually need to use my Mac prep & prime powder once an hour. A professional TV make up artist once told me she’d never known skin that needed powdering as much as mine!
Anyway, I used this primer today and yesterday and each time I only topped up my powder ONCE. Today it was around 4 hours after initially applying my make up and another 4 hours after that I looked in the mirror when I got home and would have happily gone back out without powdering.
As well being amazing mattifying, it does a very good job of hiding my huge pores on my nose. Even my boyfriend (who doesn’t even notice when I’ve had a haircut) commented that my nose looked a lot smoother today.
I’ve tried a few other primers and I’ve always found that they feel like they move around my face and have quite a greasy texture on my skin but this primer seems to set and my make up really grips it. I’ll continue to use it and if there are any changes I’ll update my review but as it stands I will definitely repurchase!

**UPDATE** (November 2014) – After using this for about 2-3 months I’ve now completely changed my mind about this primer. Although it’s great when I first apply it and it does a really good job of mattifying my skin, I’ve found lately that as the day progresses my face looks far greasier and shinier than with other primers I’ve used. I find it to be a particular problem on my forehead, which can start to resemble an oil slick and requires the use of at least 2 blotting sheets come lunchtime. Although I still love how easy this is to apply, the consistency of it and its price, for the results I’m now seeing I won’t be repurchasing this as I first thought.
ORIGINAL REVIEW
WOW! If I could give this more than 5/5 lippies, believe me I would. This is seriously THE BEST primer I’ve tried and I’ve tried quite a few. Yet again the so-called ‘budget’ brand of Kiko have managed to produce a primer that in my opinion does EXACTLY what it claims to do with the best results by far. Which is something some of the high-end brands have definitely struggled to achieve.
First off, this is specifically aimed at people with combination to oily/very oily skin, who find that their skin becomes shiny during the day. This has a gel formula which is made up of 97% natural ingredients and is enriched with sebum-absorbing vegetable active ingredients which instantly matify the skin and minimise the appearance of pores too. So no horrible, pore clogging silicones to be found here then.
This is very easy to apply. It starts off as a firm gel, but once applied and smoothed into the skin it becomes more liquefied, making it easy to work into the more difficult areas like the sides of the nose. I’ve found the most effective way to apply this is in downward strokes, concentrating on a section at a time – forehead, cheeks, nose – finishing application on each area before moving onto the next section. Once applied you leave it to dry for about 30-40 seconds before applying your makeup in the usual way.
During the 3 weeks I’ve been using this it hasn’t broken me out or irritated my skin in any way. But the most amazing part for me is just how matt my skin stays throughout the day. With other primers (BeneFits Porefessional being one that springs to mind) I’ve had to use a minimum of 4 blotting sheets come lunchtime to remove the excess oil which has built up during the morning. But with this I’ve had days where I haven’t had to use blotting sheets at all. And on the days when I have (usually when it’s hotter) I’ve only had to use 2 or 3. This is a truly amazing result from a primer that costs just £8.90.
The other plus point about this is how long it’s going to last me. I only need a piece the size of a grain of rice to do each section of my face (forehead, nose, chin) so this 25ml tube will last me an absolute age even if I use it every day. That to me is value for money and something I’ve never got from other primers I’ve used. I truly cannot praise this enough and if you get the opportunity to try it, don’t hesitate. It really is THAT GOOD‼

My favourite primer! I use this on my t-zone on a daily basis, keeps me matte for noticeably longer than other primers, also increases the staying power I everything on top. I use a fairly small amount and pat into my pores and this seems to work the best, make sure to wait for it to dry before foundation (doesn’t take long). Love it and the price makes it 100x better, €9 for a decent amount of product.
