Yipe. This was a free sample and I tried it out this morning. The primer went over The Ordinary 2.5% BHA and Olay day moisturizer with SPF. Right away I had misgivings–it didn’t have much slip at all. When I finished applying and applied foundation (GA Luminous Skin Finish, applied w/fingers) it just grabbed and dragged–had to add an extra 1/2 pump for coverage. Then I looked in my 8X mirror. Double yikes! Foundation was patchy and the pilling was incredible. And would not stop, no matter how I tried to blend, buff etc. Ended with me washing off everything and starting from scratch, this time with Smashbox Photo Finish Original (the clear one, also a Sephora sample) and was relieved to feel the nice slip, barely two pumps of foundation needed, no pilling.
63 year old skin doesn’t need any extra tugging and sure doesn’t need flaky pilling all over. And FWIW, I couldn’t tell it did any blurring of pores or fine wrinkles. The Smashbox was superior in that area as well. This went in the trash and I was very glad it wasn’t full size.

My sister gave me a tube of this in a lighter shade which I liked so I went and bought a darker shade and it’s really good, now I don’t and never have worn foundation, so what I do is I wear this primer, top it with Mac skin finish powder and a bit of bronzer, and it seems to work for me.
It gives me a nice colour, it lasts and easy to apply.

After finishing a deluxe sample of this primer, I must say that I don’t really care for it. It didn’t seem to work that well, and it smelled bad. Maybe I got a bad batch, but I didn’t like the product’s performance enough to bother buying a full size. There are less expensive primers I like better.

This is the first primer I’ve ever owned, and I never realised how terrible it was until I branched out to other products.
Does it prolong makeup wear? No. Does it create a smooth canvas? No. Does it at least HYDRATE? No.
Surely it must at least blur your pores! Haha. No.
This primer makes absolutely 0 difference to the application & wear of daily makeup. It’s just a gel that BARELY hydrates.
– If you’re looking for a superb hydrating primer that actually prolongs your makeup then check out the Too Faced Hangover Primer or Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base. BEST stuff!
– And for a pore-blurring primer the Maybelline Pore Eraser, Revlon Pore Reducing Primer & Benefit POREfessional are fantastic!
PROS:
– Doesn’t irritate the skin or cause acne
CONS:
– Does nothing
– Expensive, waste of money

I received a free tube with the purchase of the translucent powder which by the way is wonderful. This primer however was a disappointment. It does nothing for the skin and doesn’t make my foundation last any longer. Not worth buying at all.

I break out from this product. It does nothing for my foundation lasting what so ever.

I received this as a sample when I bought their transculent powder. It came in a small tube, I have other Laura Mercier primers that are great but I use this when travelling, I’ve come to realise it’s breaking me out, I thought it was a coincidence but on every occasion I use this I break out. My skin was so clear for so long and I use this and suddenly a huge breakout, very upsetting.
Water based and feels like a moisturiser then a primer but my makeup does last when using this.
Please do not buy this if you are acne prone!

This primer is excellent. It doesn’t feel thick on the skin and helps my makeup look flawless. I’ve tested out several different primers and this is the one that works the best to conceal my pores and it does not break me out. I wear Lancome foundation and powder on top of this and I have an airbrush type finish. Definitely recommend.

I have this in just the clear formulation, no color correctors. It works fine as a primer. I have used it under liquid foundation as well as mineral foundation and it works under both. I still had to blot after a while which I expect since I am normally very oily. It just doesn’t seem to work any better that a primer I can get at the drugstore so I will not be repurchasing.

An excellent, unique, lightweight primer. This review is for the one without spf- the spf primer is thicker and more silicony for those who prefer that style. I usually don’t use primers, as they usually break me out or feel thick. This primer is more like a light lotion that spreads easily and dries quickly. It hasn’t bothered my very sensitive, acne-prone skin yet, which is a big deal. Like many primers, it does seem more compatible with some foundations than others. I find it didn’t help with the already long-wearing MN lasting foundation, but did a great job with my other fave Lorac Natural Performance. Natural Performance lasts well, but tends to fade evenly at the end of a very long day. With the primer, it looks freshly applied from 6am to 11pm. It comes in a convenient squeeze tube and a little goes a long way. Although Merle Norman may seem for older ladies, many of their products are phenomenal and have better performance and ingredients than many high end brands. Another big plus- they have a strict no animal testing policy which isn’t advertised much for some reason. Great primer! Will update if I develop sensitivity. UPDATE: Sadly, it ended up breaking me out. But I started using the anti-blemish version and problem solved! It works beautifully with liquids or powders. Love it.

Best primer I have tried! I have the oil free one as I have oily skin but gives me foundation longer wear and hold. Recommend it!

Nothing special about this primer as far as I could tell, and the staying power isn’t great. But it didn’t break me out and plays well with the tinted moisturizer.

It did help smooth my skin and blur pores and imperfections but I have oily skin and it broke me out and made my skin really oily by the end of the day. My nose was shiny AF! I only used it cuz my mum had bought it for me after loving it herself and I’d run out of my usual primer. I never usually get spots anymore but after 3 days of using this I had 4.
