I bought this because the counter girl said it fixes makeup and removes shine. [I was new to primers and makeup/skincare]
it’s my first primer buy, and I didn’t know I had a combination skin, I had planned to buy Rimmel matte primer but it wasn’t available [stupid international shipping laws]
well she was a bit wrong, it doesn’t remove shine but it does markedly reduce it. and makeup does sit nicely on it. actually blending foundation becomes soooo easy with this 😀
it balances my skin, smoothes it, nice natural unnoticed shimmer in it, spf 25 is a lovely touch. hydrates well, I now use it on non oily zones. away from tzone. sometimes I use it to hydrate dry or flaky areas [rare though]
lovely product for normal /dry skin I think but combo skin types won’t regret it either.
standard primers are priced here at 13$ , I got it for 12$. not bad at all. dunno if I will buy it again but in case I don’t buy sunscreen , I think it’s a nice substitute. even if it’s 5 spf less than I need 😛

This seems to work pretty well as a primer: whatever’s on top stays put. The SPF isn’t bad. It has a little sheen/sparkle to it, which doesn’t bother me, but looks a little funny if you only wear primer before you go out, like I do. I put a zinc moisturising sunscreen on top of this and the combination works pretty well. It does have a slight white cast.
If you wear this by itself, though, it sort of…separates? when you sweat. I wore it on a warm day by itself and when I looked in the mirror after a few hours, it had shifted around and there were white marks around the edges of where I’d rubbed it in. It looked REALLY bad, I hope no one noticed.
I’m just trying to use this one up so it stops taking up space.

I’ve tried this product a handful of times and would have to say i definitely do not like this. It smells, feels and looks like sunscreen. when i try and rub it in, my skin looks all shiny as your face would after applying sunscreen, it just sat on top of my skin and didn’t soak in and was really thick. it dried too quickly to even blend out.

I like to change products pretty often because I get borred easily of them.
So I bought Rimmel Fix&Protect for price reasons and for that SPF.
I like it and not.
I like it because as an eye primer it does the job.Eyeshadows tend to stay in place for a lot of hours.
I don’t like it because it leaves a white sheer on the face.It dries fast ,but it leaves a white residual like you put flour on the face.It brightenes the foundation a little(by a half of tone).

I am a stubborn cheapskate when it comes to eye primers as I have used the Boots No.7 Beautifully Matte foundation primer for over a decade as an eye primer, and was on the lookout for a replacement since it had been discontinued. In my books (and I am not pretending this is the right way to go about choosing this sort of product), all I want in an eye primer is something to get my eye shadow to adhere so that the colour applies vibrantly and stays put.
Going for Rimmel was a stab in the dark, but at drug store prices, I thought it was a worth a punt as I wouldn’t be breaking the bank with any mistakes. I had meant to get the Fix & Perfect Pro as it had “mattifying” on the label, but the shop I went to only had this Fix & Protect (005) in stock and I thought it was no bad thing to have a SPF25 to help stave off the ageing process against the Dubai sun.
The texture is very runny and leaves a bright sheen to my skin due to the SPF, so I can see that it would work quite well as a facial sunblock (and I probably should use it as one). Application is easy, although it would be a lot less messy if the packaging could come with a pump dispenser instead.
As an eye primer, this Fix & Protect product works excellently as it visibly brightens the skin upon application, and also provides a good finish for powder eyeshadow to stick onto. I also find that I have less fallout even with some of my chalkier powders. My eyeshadow colours come out true to pan colour, and the hold time can last up to 18+ hours (depending on the eyeshadow).
I still need to experiment at some point with using this all over my face (I don’t use foundation), as I do wonder how forgiving it would be with blending out blushers and contouring powders due to its “grab” quality on my skin. Overall, I have no quibbles at performance and quality, and this is a great product at a very reasonable price point.
