An impulse buy. I’ve tried it to cover melasma patches, but has no staying power and blends immediately into foundation. I have more success with using under my eyes – its very soft crayon and blends with concealer. Not one I would buy again

I bought this as a suggestion from a Sephora rep. I am very pale and pink, and I have in a light peach shade. I will admit this pencil does a good job of covering discoloration. However it has virtually no staying power. I can do my makeup and things are looking good, but by the time I get to work, etc. it’s completely gone. I would keep in my purse for touch-ups but it needs sharpening often. I don’t want to drag around a sharpener because my purse already weighs 96 pounds. Sadly, this was a waste of money for me.

I have med- dark complexion – NC45- I tired on this in the Dark, an orange corrector pencil in conjunction with a creamy concealer. I did not buy as I am comparing and contrasting different products before deciding. I have pronounced dark circles and it did offer some coverage of the circles when followed with the concealer. However the results were not long lasting. Within 2-3 hours, it started to crease, looked chalky and the coverage dissipated. I don’t know if it would work better with a more full coverage concealer, but overall I was not that impressed with this product. I will keep looking

Maybe if I was a teenager or 20 at most, this would blend? It’s so impossible to blend and always looks chalky. I bought this as I saw lisalisad1 get it (yes, like all yt and bloggers she did get it sent free, but I trust her to an extent as she’s pushing 50, and she suggested it was a good alternative to Giorgio Armani under eye corrector). Anyway, I guess I was hoping it’d be a cheap version of those good under eye correctors but alas it’s nothing like it. In fact as I’m pale this seems too dark. I used to use Benefit eye bright pencil (RIP) which was better than this. I saw reviewers say the silver writing comes off so I cleverly varnished it before hand. (Ok I copied a reviewer’s clever idea) Aside from that criticism, most reviews seemed to love it (Sephora reviews) so I was really excited.
The sharpener isn’t great either (each pencil comes w a sharpener) I use my (again, RIP) Sue Devitt sharpener which wastes way less product. Anyway this is truly lousy and even on the smashbox official yt videos, you can see how unblended and obvious they look. The green one makes the model look positively queasy. I don’t understand how anyone likes these pencils?? I can only assume that if you have plump juicy young skin they may blend with a pat, but on dry thin ageing undereye skin, this is worse than useless. I’ll stick with Bobbi brown correctors/ Laura Mercier and maybe splurge on Armani next time…
Edit – still wouldn’t buy it but I’ve upped my rating to 3* as I’ve found it works if I put it on, mix it with NYX milk pencil and then immediately blend my fdtn all around and into it, it also works nicely as a brightener around my face actually. The pencil needs sharpening after every use so it won’t last long. I’m glad I tried it and it’s not a total fail, but there are better things on the market.
