This product is marketed as an anti-ageing, color-correcting glow booster and illuminating primer. Sounds exactly like what my tired-looking dull combination skin needs. However, I am not in love.
It’s a heavily scented lightweight primer with a pearlescent sheen (cool undertone). Upon application, it has that slightly silicony feeling (has silicons in it) and therefore applies very easily, absorbs fairly quickly, my skin immediately feels smooth and slightly more radiant. However, the effect is not huge. It definitely does not do anything color-correcting. As for the glow, my Mac Strobe Cream, even if mixed with a moisturizer, gives me more radiance than the Brightening Youth Glow. Not surprisingly, this primer is undetectable under my makeup. I normally use medium-coverage foundation on top of it and that is when the effect of CT’s primer completely disappears. It might work better together with a very light coverage foundation or a BB cream. I can also see it being appreciated by someone who already has a beautiful skin and does not wear foundation or BB creams, just some of this “glow booster” for a natural looking illumination with nothing on top of it.
As for the anti-aging benefits, I cannot say much since I have only been using this product for 2 weeks. It does have some nice ingredients like squalane, niacinamide, rose hip oil (among other oils), but then again… I use all of these already in my skincare regime and I’m not a big believer in skincare benefits from make-up products.
All in all, I don’t think it’s a bad product, but it does not work for me on the days when I wear a full-face of make-up. I personally do not think that it is worth the price (around 50 euros in Europe).
