I bought this as a touch-up compact to carry in my purse; it was recommended to me by the MAC SA. I’m in my 40s, with medium-toned skin that requires a touch-up or two throughout the day on my nose and forehead. I didn’t want anything too drying because my skin is getting drier with age and makeup is starting to settle into my lines. I was previously using Bare Minerals READY Touch-up veil in Translucent, which makes me look a little ghostly right after application, so I wanted to try something new. The SA suggested the Medium color, which turned out to be a perfect match for me.
This compact doesn’t come with a powder puff, but I bought a package of MAC puffs with it and it fits nicely inside (I’m sure any other brand would also fit). That’s how I apply it, simply because it’s more convenient than a brush. With the puff, the formula doesn’t seem stiff to me and it applies flawlessly. It takes the shine away but doesn’t look caked on. It’s a very natural look and perfect for what I needed. It also hasn’t caused any breakouts or irritation.

I bought this powder when it initially released and at first glance I thought these were contouring powders, they are in fact not. These are sheer coverage face powders to set your foundation. They feel very soft and gel like at the touch but if you try to swatch some of the product the powder is very stiff and hard. This powder was very disappointing and didn’t do much coverage wise. This doesn’t compare to the MSFN or select sheer pressed powder. I’d much rather prefer those. For more of my review on this powder check out my Youtube Video

I bought this powder after running low on my MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Natural. It’s my favorite powder, but I hate the new packaging so the woman working at the counter convinced me of this.
I am the shade Light and find it very similar to the MSFN shade in Light. It has a very luminous finish. It doesn’t have shimmer or glitter, but it doesn’t leave a full matte finish on the skin. It leaves my skin with a nice glow without looking sweaty or oily.
I find that this is perfect over my medium and full coverage foundations. It doesn’t add any additional coverage, so it doesn’t make my face feel heavy. But over my BB cream and light coverage foundations, this doesn’t do anything. It doesn’t make my skin matte or add coverage. That would be fine, but I like to use a powder that has more coverage over BB creams and light coverage foundations. This would make a wonderful touching up powder throughout the day. It’s a light coverage that doesn’t look like powder on the face. I’ve touched up three times today to test this and never has my face looked cakey.
The only thing I HATE about this powder is that it is very, very stiff. I use a fluffy powder brush to set my makeup and I have to scrape the powder to get any powder on the brush! I get more coverage applying this with my finger than with a brush! I think a kabuki brush or a powder puff would be the best way to apply this. But since the packaging doesn’t have a spot for a powder puff, it makes touching up a little harder.
I think that this powder is wonderful over my higher coverage foundations, but over my lighter coverage foundations, this doesn’t cut it for me. I will use my MSFN (until I run out) for lighter coverage foundations, but this will be my go-to powder on higher coverage foundations. I just hope that they change the formulation; it is just too stiff!
