WOW. I have both this and the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light. I bought this one (when Priceline had 40% off for about $8) so I could use it on daily basis to mimic the Hourglass one, and save my Hourglass one for more occasional use due to the price.
This is SO similar to the hourglass one its not even funny. The only difference is the finish on the Models Prefer one is slightly more glowy with more of a silvery sheen to it. On the face you can’t notice the difference, only in swatches. This powder finishes my daily foundation really nicely, blurs my pores and leaves my skin looking glowy.
When you swatch the powder, it does look quite pink-toned, but on the face this is not very noticeable. My skin has yellow undertones and the colour of Soft Focus looks completely fine (I am about an NC20-NC25 for reference).
Overall a very impressive job by Models Prefer at duping a cult beauty product at such a ridiculously good price.

From the research I did online prior to buying this (I could not swatch it in person as I’m not Australian) I was so sure Soft Focus would be my sheer colour match. Instead, it turned out to be a very pink toned and surprisingly pigmented powder. I had intended to wear this as a face powder to minimise my pores appearance.
It blurs pores very well but the mismatching colour is unwearable as an all over face powder. It also has the most fall out of any powder I’ve used, including loose. Allllll over my clothes even if I’m only using a little.
The packaging is cheap and bland. The powder dips down a lot at the edge of the compact which leads to powder balls rolling in there, getting stuck and making the whole thing look a bit manky.
I was very disappointed at first because my hopes were as high as my pores were wide, but it looks nice as blush/highlight. I use a cheap matte bronzer (LA Girl) as a faint contour/blush, blend it out a lot, and then apply a thin line of Soft Focus on the top. I am not a fan of highlight as I think it either exacerbates skin texture or looks too obvious, but this looks great. It’s clearly make up, but not in a bad obvious way.
So, still sad I can’t use it on my pores, but it looks really nice as a blush/highlight and I’ll repurchase.

I own this in the colours Soft Focus, Photoready and Luminous Glow.
They are a fantastic and the only true dupe for the Ambient Lighting powders that I have come across, which I also own in the palette. The only noticeable difference between the two brands is that there is a slight chalky overlay to the Models Prefer which you can simply brush off the top before use, and that its SLIGHTLY not as creamy as the ambient powders. The MP is definitely a silky powder in comparison to the creamy texture of the ambient powder, but I care none at all as the finish is the same with a setting spray.
I tend to lean toward the MP powders due to them being slightly less pigmented so you don’t get a cast on your face which is a nice coloured glow from the Ambient Lighting powders but may not always match your skin tone, whereas MP is sheerer upon first application to avoid that cast but can of course be built up.
I of course prefer this over the Hourglass powders due to them being so affordable! They are incredible quality for $16 and I have never repurchased the Ambient Lighting powders because they’re way too damn expensive when I can achieve the same finish and have the same quality product for a quarter of the price.
So overall this is an incredible product and I recommend to absolutely everyone, the shades would be flattering on every skin tone from palest to the very deepest because they give the best glow! 5/5. 🙂

This is a very close dupe of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting powder in Luminous Light!!
The other shades are also very close dupes in their texture AND finish of some of the other shades from Hourglass too. Very impressed!
This one is slightly less pigmented than the Hourglass one but it still gives a beautiful glitter-free glow to the skin without chalkiness or settling into fine lines. On the skin, it is virtually the same as the Hourglass powder. The powder is quite finely milled (less “creamy” than the Hourglass but still fine) and isn’t chalky or cakey even when I layer it quite a bit.
I use it all over the face as a finishing powder (not setting powder) but it lasted quite well on my skin. Great as a subtle highlighter.
I purchased this for around $16-$17 AUD at Priceline in Australia which is a bargain compared to the Hourglass Ambient Lighting powder which is $59AUD.
Contains 10g. Sturdy and simple packaging which looks similar to the MAC MSF powders.
I think it’s a great product with beautiful finish and texture which very closely mimics the Hourglass counterpart without breaking the bank. Highly recommend it!
EDIT: I took one lippie off because the texture is slightly drier (not chalky, but a bit more so than hourglass). But I still love it, and my thoughts on it is still the same:)
