I’ve probably been through 50 of these (seriously), I’ve been wearing this since 1996 off & on & have 4 in my stash right now. I have to keep backups of this because it is so good! The only other powder I like is BareMinerals & there’s a country mile wide difference between all other powders & MAC. MAC is so far superior; I have very oily skin & this is only thing to sop up that mess & help preventing it. I use it w MAC oil control lotion/matte/pro long wear liquid fdtn. “Simply the best, better than all the rest!! Better than any one, any one I ever met…” #winning

So happy I purchased this, this mattifies my oily skin immediately upon application. I’m n18 in mac’s pro longwear and ecru/desert beige in Double Wear and this was a match.
UPDATE: I kept it in my purse and one day it completely shattered 🙁 I’ve since “fixed” it twice with alcohol but it won’t stay, it just cracks again and again.
UPDATE #2: I’ve purchased palladio blotting sheets and since then I don’t reach for this at all. If you’re thinking of purchasing this power, I suggest you try the blotting sheets before. They completely removed the need for the powder, and since the powder is not travel friendly, it now became quite useless to me.

This is my RIDE OR DIE powder. I’ve tried to let go and try other powders but I will always end up coming back to this one. I’m 21 and have been using this powder since I was 15, this powder was able to stay matte through out my oily teenage skin years. Life safer through my awkward years. I never used to the fluff that came inside the compact but use a power brush to keep my make up from looking cakey.

For all of the oily girls out there, this one is for you! I keep this with me at all times to touch up the shine I always accumulate on my face. The sleek, black MAC compact is wonderful to throw in your purse and pull out for a touch up. The product itself lasts a long time, and I am very pleased with this. I keep buying this product over and over.

I have been buying this over and over again since the 1990s. I always have it in my purse. I have tried other brands, and even other powders in the same brand. A MAC salesperson told me Careblend Powder was superior. No, it didn’t work out for me. It added a layer of color over my foundation and felt thick and heavy. I always go back to Blot Powder as my touch-up powder of choice.
Blot Powder is translucent and does not add coverage or pigment on top of your foundation. However; I find it necessary to use the Medium color even though I am fair. The Light color in this appears a bit chalky on me and the Medium shade is imperceptible.
Even if I have applied a great powder foundation, I sometimes find that the powder foundation itself (which is formulated for coverage and melding with the skin without being too drying) doesn’t control shine enough, so I’ve been known to use Blot Powder to touch up my powder foundation.
During the time it takes me to use up an entire Blot Powder, I do replace the Compact Powder Puff (applicator) a few times. I do this because I don’t like bacteria collecting on the puff, and if you wash these, they have a tendency to fall apart.
PROS:
Finely milled.
Holds back shine longer than other setting powders I have tried.
Doesn’t add a noticeable layer of texture. I can powder several times without feeling any build-up.
The powder comes in 5 translucent shades from Light to Deep Dark. That’s more than most brands offer.
Doesn’t alter the color of my foundation if I choose light or medium.
Although $26 per compact is pricier than drugstore brands, it is less expensive than some department store brands.
Fragrance free!
Non-irritating
CONS:
MAC premiered as a hip, independent cosmetics company in Canada that mega-corporation Estee Lauder swallowed in the late 1990s. While this improved U.S. distribution, making MAC products easier to find, Estee Lauder does not attempt to be eco-friendly, so MAC products are not cruelty free.
I have to replace the Compact Powder Puff that comes with it a few times. MAC’s puffs tend to fall apart when washed. (MAC offers replacements for sale, $10 for 2, on the website or in stores.)
There may be a cheaper setting powder out there or a better one, but I haven’t found one I like as much as this.

I’ve only been using this for a couple of days and I’m really impressed. I normally use Chanel’s loose powder in the morning when I finish my MU but wanted something to take with me in my handbag (which unfortunately I can’t with Chanel, it’s too heavy & bulky & messy). I read great reviews about this setting powder and finally gave in and bought it. Tha SA recommended Prep+Prime pressed powder but when she applied it it looked really cakey then. So a few days later I went back and without even trying it I bought Blot Powder. I immediately applied it in the bathroom of the mall, because it was mid afternoon and I was already quite shiny. It kept me matte, shine free the whole of the rest of the day. And natural looking matte, not powdery. Same experience the next day, although I was trying out a new fdn (Estee Lauder Double Wear Light) on my T-zone. But the combination of the two also worked fantastically. I’ve not been a ‘touch-up’ kind of gal but I hate the mid-day oiliness. I finally found the solution and now don’t mind the extra few seconds in the bathroom or wherever. As long as I remember. It’s great that it has a mirror. I’m perfectly happy with the little sponge it came with and glad I don’t need to spend more time on a retractable brush. I just press it into my skin for instant result. I wish the mirror was a bit bigger, but it’s fine.
I’m about NC15-20. Medium seems to suit me perfectly.
I might even try it sometime to use it in the morning and see how it performs during the day. That way I could maybe save a few $$ and not buy the Chanel when I run out.
My skin is normal apart from my oily T-zone, so I don’t retouch on the rest of my face with it.
Can’t think of anything else. Just that I’m a happy camper right now.

I have very oily skin and after reading reviews here on MUA bought a MAC Blot powder for $36AUD in Medium.
I love this powder – it goes on top of my foundation and it really truly keeps away my dreaded shine. The compact comes with a cheap sponge but i don’t use that, i put a little on a powder brush – a little goes a long way! The powder is translucent and doesn’t seem to give too much of a white cast in photos. I haven’t had any break outs or anything.. the only bad thing about this powder is the price 🙁
I am so happy with it, I will be buying again when i run out!

I love this product! I have just hit pan and I’m already thinking about buying a backup. I brought this in medium but not only do I use it as a blot powder but also to set my under eye concealer as well. I love the sleek compact also. A great product to throw in your purse when your out and about all day and I will definitely re-purchase this. 🙂

Absolute holy grail product. I will never be without this powder for the rest of my days. I’ve been using this powder just nearing 2 years and couldn’t be more pleased with it. After trying it, I haven’t used any other powder since.
Just to debrief and provide a little background information, I have terribly icky and annoying oily skin. Before this powder, I had just come to accept the fact that my face would just always be the shiny mess that it was. All foundations were terrible for me simply because I wasn’t setting them with the right powders. Enter Mac blot powder: holy shizz. Honestly, I never thought that I would ever be able to find a powder that controlled my oily face the way this powder does. It’s outstandingly light-weight and sheer, but it mattifies and sets foundation beautifully. I don’t actually “blot” with it, I just use it to set my foundation every morning because that’s all I need.
I’m not going to tell you that my face stays stark matte for the entire day, but it shine even close to that horrible way that makes me avoid mirrors. I just repurchased my thousandth compact today and felt compelled to write a review, seeing as it would be very difficult for me to live without this powder. Thank you, Mac!

I was surprised how light the medium tone was- it is too light for me in the summer, but okay for winter. (I can wear NC25, MUFE 40, DG 30, Clinique 9, Givenchy perfect praline, lancome 250 bisque W)
I like the pressed powder for its portability and it does work pretty well. I apply it as my last step before I walk out the door, and I always apply it over my liquid foundation because I dont like a shiny finish and have to set my makeup.
I do recommend getting a spray like beautysoclean and washing your brushes often to keep the powder from gunking up.
