I bought this when I needed something last minute to replace my broken MAC studiofix.
Overall I’m pleased. It’s hard to find drugstore foundations that have yellow/gold undertones but this was a good match to my NC35 skin
Nice coverage with a fluffy brush, a little too heavy when applied with a sponge. Lasts most of the day but needs a touch up by late afternoon.

I got this powder in the lightest shade, it’s not bad but I think I’ll just spend the extra couple dollars next time and go back to physicians formula. I was hoping for something with fuller coverage since I sometimes like to just use powder to tone down my uneven skin tone instead of using actual foundation. For a powder the coverage is decent but it certainly won’t replace a liquid or cream foundation. It almost seems more powderier than pigmented, not even in a too light for me way since I’m very pale, but especially in flash photos it can look unnatural if not applied carefully, even after setting spray. It’s a pretty powdery powder, not anything resembling a creamy or mineraly formula, but it works for setting and preventing oiliness. It’s not a very smooth powder though, I’ve been using the same brush and technique I use for every other powder but this one has some grittier and chunkier chunks visable in the pan. It doesn’t seem to affect the actual application but it does make it seem lower quality. The packaging is nice, stays shut, and it contains a mirror and a sponge. I’m not sure if i’d use the sponge for powder but it does feel like good quality and I might try it with liquid foundation.

DESCRIPTION OF ME ~ Light yellowy/olive complexion with a tendency to get redness on my cheeks and around my nose. Between MAC NC15 and NC20. I haven’t tried the new MAC shades so for now, I’ll continue to mix these two shades half and half. Large pores, oily and prone to blackheads and occasional acne. Mid-forties, some sun damage, and fine creases on my forehead which I get Botox for. I use Retin A once a week. I have dark red/brown hair and green eyes without any brown in them, almost blue. I feel like I have weird colouring which is why I sometimes struggle with finding a matching foundation shade.
CLAIMS~ “Super Stay Powder Foundation features a high-pigment formula that achieves a full-coverage finish that lasts all day.
BENEFITS
Packed with color-matching pigments, this long-lasting formula delivers our highest foundation coverage ever in a powder! This full-coverage powder makeup has a creamy texture that is easily blendable and glides onto the skin for a matte finish. From Classic Ivory and Fair Porcelain to Golden Caramel and Java, this high-coverage powder foundation is available in an extensive range of complexion-matching shades.”
GENERAL DESCRIPTION~ Full coverage foundation powder. Comes with a sponge in a separate compartment. It does smell like latex though, so unfortunately it does not appear to be latex-free.
PACKAGING~ White plastic with a clear window so you can see the product inside.
CONSISTENCY/TEXTURE~ Powder feels super silky between my fingers and quite thick. It has some substance to it, which is nice.
APPLICATION~ I won’t use the sponge provided as I have a latex sensitivity so I am using my Jane Iredale flocked sponge (so good). It applies smoothly, blending super easily with little swiping and patting motions over foundation and concealer or just moisturizer. I use it a bit to brighten my dark circles and fill in my nose pores with a little concealer brush and it looks so seamless.
FINISH~ Matte but not dead matte, more of a demi matte.
COVERAGE~ Definitely medium. The claim is full but none of them really are.
STAYING POWER~ It doesn’t last 16 hours, what does? But, it does last 4-6 hours before I need a oil touch up. If you aren’t oily, this might, indeed, last 16 hours!
SCENT~ None whatsoever!
SHADES ~ 16 shades. I found one that matches me! I rarely find a foundation that matches but powders are more easy. There are only two deep shades so, that doesn’t seem inclusive at all. I’m using 120 Classic Ivory which seems to be half way between NC20 and NC25 Studio Fix Powder which is perfect for me.
OVERALL~ The shades are nice and natural (nothing too orange or pink), the coverage is so natural and lovely. It’s not too dry and powdery, I never looks ghosty or cakey nor does it emphasize dry patches or texture. It lasts a good amount of time on my oily skin and has pretty solid medium coverage. It’s fine when used in a light layer, really packing it on does make it appear slightly textured. I mention this because my staple, Studio Fix powder looks less textured and more smooth but, this is only if I really pack it on. When used as a light dusting over foundation, this is really lovely.
For years I’ve been trying to replace MAC Studio Fix powder because of the cost. It’s worth every penny but why not try to find something less expensive? Thing is, this Maybelline is not much cheaper than MAC! It’s virtually the same cost when you factor in the ugly packaging, the useless sponge a bit more texture when layered. Which is so frustrating. MAC costs $2.33 CA a gram, this Super Stay is $2.17 CA a gram. I get more MAC at once, it has much nicer packaging, layers better and has a durable latex-free sponge. There’s just no way I’ll purchase this Maybelline product over the MAC unless I’m in a pinch. If you don’t want to buy MAC for w/e reason, though, this is comparable for coverage, good natural shades (if you can find one) and staying power. Try it, it’s good but you’re not getting a deal for this Maybelline drugstore product, which makes me argh.
